There will be a choice between only three questions on the actual examination sheet.

1. Discuss the theme of self-sacrifice in A Year of the Quiet Sun and The Interrogation.
2. Elucidate the representation of women in Polish cinema (analyze at least two films).
3. Compare the depictions of state justice in The Interrogation and Decalogue 5.
4. Discuss the meaning of intertextual connections between a Polish film and another work(s) of art (any relevant movies, books, paintings, etc.)

5. Analyze the symbolism of colour and chiaroscuro in Decalogue 6.
6. Examine character transformations in any two films from the course list.
7. Explain the role of history in Polish cinema using at least two films as specific examples.
8. Elaborate on the topic of moral choices and their consequences in the “cinema of moral concern.”
