After spending your adult life knowing what suits you, suddenly you find yourself having to re-learn what works best for your new figure. Whether you have had a single or double mastectomy there are several styles which will flatter your new chest, it will just take a little trial and error. See it as an opportunity to try clothes you would have previously walked past; if you like it, try it! Here are some tips to help you get started... Fabric Look for fabrics which add texture, or which are light and move freely. Floaty fabrics such as crepe, chiffon, silk and light cotton create movement, especially if they are pleated to create volume, this will balance your flatness. Jersey fabric drapes beautifully; look for gathering which creates shape and can also be used to blend in your flat side. Lace and embroidered layers add pattern and interest, and textured knits add depth to your chest. Layer contrasting textures and colours to add depth and shape. Try: V-Neck or wrap-over tops with a vest underneath; a waterfall jacket or boyfriend blazer over a blouse, or a sleeveless jacket or waistcoat over a T-shirt. Having a mastectomy without reconstruction will have altered your body shape

overnight. After spending your adult life knowing what suits you, suddenly you find

yourself having to re-learn what works best for your new figure.

Whether you have had a single or double mastectomy there are several styles which

will flatter your new chest, it will just take a little trial and error.

See it as an opportunity to try clothes you would have previously walked past; if you like

it, try it! Here are some tips to help you get started...

Fabric Look for fabrics which add texture, or which are light and move freely.

Floaty fabrics such as crepe, chiffon, silk and light cotton create movement, especially if they are

pleated to create volume, this will balance your flatness. Jersey fabric drapes beautifully; look for

gathering which creates shape and can also be used to blend in your flat side. Lace and

embroidered layers add pattern and interest, and textured knits add depth to your chest.

Layer contrasting textures and colours to add depth and shape. Try: V-Neck or wrap-over tops

with a vest underneath; a waterfall jacket or boyfriend blazer over a blouse, or a sleeveless

jacket or waistcoat over a T-shirt.

Shape Because your bodyshape has changed you may want to look for items

which make the most of your new outline, or items which create the illusion of your

old shape.

A-Line tops and swing dresses flare gently from the chest, so will add movement over your

tummy and hips.

Bubble hem tops, or dresses with elasticated waistbands create volume around the chest.

Off-the-shoulder, halter-neck and boat-necks can all add the illusion of width across the chest.
