POST CAMP REPORT, DIR (LOWER)
SAMAR BAGH, MAIDAN
Al-Shifa Center For Community Ophthalmology established free Eye camps and
School screening at two different venues (SAMAR BAGH & MAIDAN) of Dir
(Lower) on 3rd and 4th January, 2017 respectively, Sponsored by Al-Shifa
Foundation Of North America (AFNA) in collaboration with Pakistan Army and
Frontier Constabulary (FC, Dir Scouts).
The Camps were given high media coverage in all Newspapers and Electronic media channels of
National Level and KPK i.e. Geo News, Jang Urdu, Express Newspaper and Express TV, The
News, Mashriq Newspaper and Mashriq TV, Ausaaf NewsPaper, Frontier Post, Akhbar-e-Khyber,
and many other newspapers at Local level.
Live telecast, Radio program of 85 minutes was organized for the awareness of Local
Community at FM 100 (Rokhaan). Huge numbers of live listeners have asked for their queries
regarding Eye diseases through live calls and Messages. This effort of Al-Shifa Center For
Community Ophthalmology (ACCO) was highly appreciated by the local community.
Awareness sessions were held by Eye Specialist Doctors for the local community at camp sites
and in Schools as well for the children, School staff and Parents regarding Eye care.
Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital and ACCO took initiative to reach the unreached, because the
presence of health care services in these hard and inaccessible areas is very meager. ACCO
department do these screening and eye camps in such remote areas on regular basis.
The Provincial health authorities/Local government and elders of area praised the eye care
services rendered by Al-Shifa trust eye hospital.

Zia Ullah 14 Years Old, Albeno
Zia Ullah is an Orphan boy came to the camp site, Mr Tahir Zafar, President Al-Shifa Foundation of North
America, AFNA met him with Love and affection. Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital's Staff checked him in detail.
Zia Ullah was very thankful to all the stakeholders for arranging the camp.

Zia Ullah had no source of income, he used to spend his nights open-air but now
he is having all the facilities of life and having free of cost treatment from Al-Shifa
Trust Eye Hospital as well.
Abul Kareem (56 Years)
Abdul Kareem Came to (Samar Bagh Camp) established by Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital
Sponsored by Al-Shifa Foundation Of North America, AFNA in collaboration with Pak Army, first
day with mature cataract in his left eye. He was referred to the base hospital for free of cost
cataract surgery.
