Chevron Philippines Inc. and AmCham Foundation — in partnership with Northern Star Energy Corporation, branded marketer of Caltex in North Luzon, announced the launch Caltex Fuel Your School (CFYS) 2019 in March 22, 2019. The program aims to give the 30 highest-need public high schools in the area equipment to improve teaching in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) strand. During the campaign, all fuel ups in 23 Caltex stations managed by Northern Star in Cagayan Valley and portions of the Cordillera Administrative Region were matched by Caltex and Northern Star with a P1 for every liter donation to raise the P3 million-target from June 1 until August 15. The collected fund was divided among the 30 public high schools selected based on criteria set by Department of Education. The first turned over of worth three million pesos (P3 million) of 21st century teaching tools for STEM students happened on August 27-28 in Isabela and Cagayan. The awarding ceremonies were held on October 16, 2019 at 3k Hotel, Santiago City, Isabela. This years CFYS directly affected almost 2,000 teachers and over 40,000 public high school students in Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Kalinga and Ifugao. CFYS showed the capability of private and public sector to move forward education in the Philippines. We will use the learnings we obtained from Caltex Fuel your school as we plan our own Sikap, Tulong, Sulong corporate social responsibility program for the years ahead, said Northern Star COO Juan Miguel Delgado. CPI and Northern Stars CFYS partnership over the last two years has generated a total of six million pesos (P6M), four million pesos (P4M) of which were contributed by Northern Star with the help of its Retailer-Partners in Northern Luzon. POST Genuine smiles and grateful hearts welcomed Northern Star employees who played Santa and delivered Christmas gifts for child patients of the Philippine Cerebral Palsy, Inc. (PCPI) on December 17 at the PCPI Center in San Antonio, Makati City. As requested by PCPI representatives, Northern Star donated toiletry items like toothbrushes, toothpaste and bath soap – essentials that PCPI beneficiaries sorely need. “This is the second year that we have given similar items to PCPI,” said Juan Miguel T. Delgado, Northern Star COO. “Some might take these things for granted but they surely mean a lot for disadvantaged children afflicted with cerebral palsy and other motor disabilities. We are happy to help in any way we can.”

SIMPLE THINGS MEAN

A LOT

Northern Star Energy Corporation’s area of operations now cover the entire Philippines. From the second half of 2019, Northern Star’s Commercial & Industrial team started serving container terminal operation and logging industry customers in Cagayan de Oro and Zamboanga. This expansion is part of Northern Star’s commitment to be a partner in national development by delivering fuel to critical industries.

The activity is part of Northern Star’s Sikap, Tulong, Sulong!, a Corporate Social Responsibility program that covers education, health, environment and values formation. Under STS, Northern Star also supports the Caltex Fuel Your School program and other targeted CSR activities in communities where the company operates.

Northern Star completely migrated from Google Suite to Microsoft Office 365 (O365) on August 8, 2019. The year 2019 marked a milestone in the transformation of Northern Star Caltex service stations from being just fuel retailers to convenience retailers.

During the year, Northern Star established partnerships with global convenience store brand 7-Eleven; famous grab and go international and local food outlets Jollibee, McDonald's, Red Ribbon, Dunkin Donuts, Chowking, Krispy Kreme, Yellow Cab, LC Big Mak, Binalot Express, Julie’s Bakeshop, Varda Burger and Lugaw Queen; trusted bank BDO; auto services provider Motech and car key specialist Keynamics. The synergies with these brands stepped up the development of Northern Star’s Convenience Hub concept of turning service stations into destinations by providing most, if not all, of the following: convenience stores, auto service centers, cafes, quick service restaurants, pharmacies, quick payment or financial services and clean restrooms – in addition to the core fuel offer.

There are currently two branded Convenience Hubs in the Northern Star network - Caltex Baguio and Caltex Pasig 2, with more lined up in the coming years.
