Position Profile Date: August 5, 2020 Job Title: Assistant Deputy Minister, Climate and Green Plan Implementation Office Department: Manitoba Conservation and Climate Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba Classification: Executive Officer 2 (EX2) Employment Type: Regular Full Time Position Overview Reporting to the Clerk of the Executive Council, the Assistant Deputy Minister role is responsible to provide leadership to the Climate and Green Plan Implementation Office, and provide advice and support to Deputy Ministers, and contribute to achieving the full range of corporate goals of government. The role is accountable to effectively and efficiently implement the Made-in-Manitoba Climate and Green Plan. This includes establishing, delivering and ensuring a whole- of-government approach to its implementation as well as establishing and supporting collaborative relationships with numerous external stakeholders to mobilize complementary actions, considering the Plan’s economy-wide transformation objectives. The Office is responsible for public reporting of progress to plan goals and supporting evidence-based, fiscally accountable decision- making. The role works with other ministries to adhere to policy, program and administrative objectives related to the Plan, supported with risk management frameworks, tracking and reporting performance metrics of programs and portfolios, and implementing change management. The role provides strategic direction, developing and implementing legislation, regulations, policies and procedures, and evaluating and reporting progress to ensure achievement of the Plan’s and government’s corporate objectives. The work must reflect a holistic, integrated approach of environmental and socio-economic factors, allow for transition in the immediate and over the long-term, and alignment across departments, other levels of government and sectors of the economy. The role works as a key member of the Departments executive management team. All Assistant Deputy Ministers are accountable to lead employees using a performance management and development process to provide an overall context and framework to facilitate employee contribution. Assistant Deputy Ministers are responsible to create a workplace culture that is consistent with and emphasizes the identified mandate, vision, guiding principles and values of the Manitoba Government.

The Assistant Deputy Minister will:

• Provide leadership to the Office includingmanagement of human resources, coachingand performance review to create strong,effective high-performance teams.

• Provide timely, accurate and complete briefingmaterial and advice on emerging issues,including advisory notes, ad hoc reports, andcorrespondence related to the responsibility ofthe Office.
