Organization Overview

Tampa General Hospital (TGH) is one of the largest hospitals in Florida and the region’s first and largest teaching hospital.

Tampa General Hospital is a private not-for-profit hospital and one of the most comprehensive medical facilities in Florida, serving a dozen counties with a population in excess of four million. TGH is the area’s only level I trauma center and one of just three burn centers in Florida.

The hospital is home to one of the leading organ transplant centers in the country, having performed more than 10,000 adult solid organ transplants, including the state’s first successful heart transplant in 1985. TGH is also a nationally certified comprehensive stroke center.

Other outstanding centers include internal medicine, cardiovascular, orthopedics, high risk and normal obstetrics, urology, ENT, endocrinology, neurosurgery, gastroenterology, the Thyroid Cancer & Parathyroid Institute, and the Children’s Medical Center, including the Jennifer Leigh Muma Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Education

Tampa General is affiliated with the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine and serves as the primary teaching hospital for the university. Over 300 residents/fellows are assigned to Tampa General Hospital for specialty training in areas ranging from general internal medicine to neurosurgery. In addition, USFmedical students, nurses and physical therapy students receive part of their training at Tampa General. Faculty from the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine admit and care for patients at Tampa General Hospital as do private practice physicians, many of whom also serve as adjunct clinical faculty. Tampa General also serves as a teaching hospital to students in many disciplines fromseveral area schools.

Off-Campus Hospital Outpatient Services

• The Specialty Care Center at Healthpark is a multi-disciplinary outpatient clinic serving Hillsborough County.

• The Genesis Women’s Center at Healthpark offers care for women including routine checkups, high-risk or normal pregnancy care, and treatment of endometriosis, chronic pelvic pain and painful or irregular menstruation.

• The Pediatric Center at Healthpark offers a full range of care for all the developmental stages of a child’s life from birth, to well-baby care, and childhood illnesses through 17 years.

• TGH Outpatient Rehabilitation at Armenia offers a range of outpatient rehabilitation services including burn, orthopedic, TMJ and vestibular rehabilitation, as well as hand therapy.

• Treating patients 12 years of age and older, the TGH Family Care Centers at Healthpark and Kennedy offer a range of health care services, from immunizations and treatment of childhood illnesses to well woman exams and management of chronic health conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure.

• Serving adults and children, the TGH Brandon Healthplex features comprehensive medical services including 24/7 emergency center, outpatient rehabilitation, outpatient surgery center, pharmacy, lab services, and primary and specialty care physician offices.

• Treating patients 18 years of age and older, TGH Medical Village offers primary care services and outpatient rehabilitation for chronic pain management, including pelvic floor, biofeedback and physical therapy.

• Treating patients age 2 and older, TGH Urgent Care provides medical treatment for non-emergency conditions including bone fractures, sinus infections, minor lacerations, earaches, and more.

Tampa General Medical Group (TGMG) is a multispecialty physician group with practice locations in Hillsborough and Pasco counties. TGMG physicians specialize in family practice, internal medicine, pediatrics, transplant cardiology,endocrinology, hepatology, nephrology, and surgery.

Overview

Tampa General has the vision of being the most innovative and the safest healthcare facility in the country. To meet that goal, the CEO is investing in people and technology, and in his year and a half with the organization has visited every department and every shift to build relationships and share his vision. The organization is excited about embarking on this journey, and this key position will be the face of the analytics team for TGH.

The Director of Analytics is responsible for the enterprise-wide data and information governance, data strategy and operations of the analytics team. This is a key leadership position responsible for developing the strategic vision and overseeing organizational analytic services, analytics resources, and data warehouse infrastructure. The analytics team is composed of a highly skilled team of 14 which includes one data scientist.

Key Priorities

The Director of Analytics will serve as the corporate leader of data insights that help drive strategic and tactical business opportunity, while serving as a champion for a data-driven, decision-making culture.

One of the top priorities for the Director of Analytics will be continuing to mature the governance model. This will include helping the organization define service lines consistently.

The Director of Analytics will work collaboratively with clinical and operational leadership to develop enterprise strategies and multi-year analytics roadmaps. This individual not only needs to be technical but also a strategist. With an organizational desire for increased access to quality measures, this individual needs to implement innovative analytics solutions, looking forward to technologies like machine learning and AI.
