LETTER FROM CO-FOUNDER AND BOARD CHAIR DAVID CAMPBELL

With both the frequency and intensity of disasters up around the globe, All Hands and Hearts provides a much needed and thoughtful approach to help affected communities recover. We’ve built a reputation of arriving early and staying late to address the immediate and long-term needs of those directly affected by earthquakes, floods, fires, and hurricanes.

I’m very proud of the contributions All Hands and Hearts has made since our humble beginnings when I personally traveled to Thailand to organize a small, but much needed response to the Boxing Day Tsunami. Consider that since that initial disaster response, All Hands and Hearts can claim:

4Chief Executive Officer, All Hands and Hearts

Resilience: By laying out and constructing disaster-resilient structures to US code, we ensure that the facilities are stronger and more sustainable to weather future disasters.

Renewal: We immerse ourselves into the communities where we serve. This allows volunteers to uncover new ways to help, which invariably brings fresh ideas and creative solutions.

At AHAH, we believe direct experiences are vital to achieving understanding between people and cultures. By collaborating with local and global organizations, we mobilize the people and resources needed to provide resilient relief to communities impacted by natural disasters.

ABOUT ALL HANDS AND HEARTS

All Hands and Hearts (AHAH) endeavors to address the immediate and long-term needs of communities impacted by natural disasters. We communicate directly with local leaders and community members and then deploy our unique Smart Response model of engaging staff and volunteers to help build safer and more resilient schools, homes, and critical infrastructure, such as hospitals.

Since December 2004, we have launched 123 relief programs and rebuilt 309 schools, benefiting over 1.2M people in 20 countries through the mobilization of over 61,000 volunteers worldwide.

Smart Response Model:

Response: Immediately after a disaster, we dispatch an experienced DART (Disaster, Assessment, and Review Team) to be on site, then carefully listen to the impacted community to identify their greatest needs, effectively begin response work, and create a long-term action plan.

Recovery: Where needed, we make a long-term commitment to build, in response to the most urgent community needs, disaster resilient homes, schools, daycare facilities, or community centers – the hubs of every community.
