PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
This position is responsible for : The identification and translation of research evidence into knowledge resources as a means of facilitating collaboration to identify issues, solve problems , and promote evidence-informed decision making (EIDM) The incumbent will:-
engage in activities related to finding, appraising, and synthesising knowledge into usable formats, adapting it for local context and disseminating relevant knowledge that contributes to evidence informed decision making
conduct needs assessments to identify the knowledge resources needed to solve compelling frontline and systemic challenges and facilitate the creation of new knowledge to fill gaps
create and support the creation of quality content, resources or publications that satisfy and balance the needs of target audiences and/or specific client groups.
develop Counties Manukau Health staff capacity to work together to find, create, use and share relevant knowledge to spread the awareness and adoption of innovations and improvements

NATURE AND SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Evidence & Knowledge Translation
Find, appraise, and disseminate relevant evidence based research that contributes to evidence informed decision making [EIDM]
Facilitate the creation of new knowledge to fill gaps - identifying knowledge sources, assessing the usefulness of knowledge, adapting it for local contexts, and synthesizing knowledge into usable formats for a range of audiences and stakeholders. Via full integration into project teams in Ko Awatea/CMH communicate and translate research evidence and Facilitate knowledge transfer between the research evidence base and decision-makers
Promote the spread and uptake of innovations and improvements by synthesising research, lessons learned , programmatic outcomes and publishing research summaries , articles and reports for a range of audiences. ‘Develop relationships with members of the Ko Awatea Senior Leadership Team, Portfolio Managers and other key team members to understand and agree priority areas based on supporting organisational strategic initiatives'
Building capacity
Foster the development of positive attitudes toward EIDM.
Enhance organizational capacity for EIDM by targeting individual or organization barriers to change including promoting positive attitudes toward evidence and developing structures and supports for both teams and individuals within the organization.

Situations may often call for tact, diplomacy and will require information to be handled in a discreet and sensitive manner. In situations of conflict, the incumbent will be required to exercise sound judgement, negotiation and persuasiveness skills, toward facilitating a workable outcome, referring to Library and Knowledge Services Lead where required.
PROBLEM COMPLEXITY
The position holder will be regularly challenged by a wide range of research and other issues that require innovative approaches. The focus will be on providing timely and quality information to sponsors and stakeholders. There will be a requirement to be able to prioritise issues and negotiate time frames, while still providing a quality customer service and meeting revenue requirements . The range of problems will be diverse and require solutions customised to meet the circumstances of Ko Awatea and Counties Manukau Health. Therefore opportunities will arise to provide innovative options based on proven outcomes. There will be demands to meet deadlines, maintain accuracy and quality of information. Failure to do so could impact on the organisation in terms of it’s effectiveness in implementing improvement initiatives and programmes. Will refer to the Library and Knowledge services Lead, Ko Awatea for advice or second opinion.

HEALTH AND SAFETY ACCOUNTABILITIES (Management roles) Health and Safety (H&S) is a key accountability of all Counties Manukau Health (CM Health) staff. All CM Health Managers are responsible to:
Zero harm Engage in safe workplace practices and manage the health and safety of your employees and other people in the workplace
Engage in safe work practices
Ensure all Incidents involving staff are reported, investigated and any corrective actions are completed and closed off when completed in the Incident reporting system in line with CM Health Policies and Procedures
Ensure all corrective activities are completed and controls are reviewed after incidents
Ensure all staff are Inducted/Oriented to the division/service/work area and recorded in the OneStaff database and participate in Occupational Health and Safety matters
Risk management Manage all hazards, risks and incidents in the workplace by identifying, evaluating, reporting and controlling them effectively by maintaining a Hazard and Risk Register that is reviewed and kept up to date on an ongoing basis
Stop work where there is an immediate risk of serious harm and escalate to the appropriate manager
