Q How do you feel about securing position

in your class?

A Yes; surely it feels great because it is an honor for the position holder that he/she

is more intelligent and has outclassed others in

the class as well. There is also a thinking of not

to lose hopes at any cost. In fact the efforts

and hard work also get doubled along with

passage of each semester; in order to keep

oneself always on the top. There is also fear of

being tough contest and being fallen by any

other’s. Shortly is it a combination of fear and

happiness , before and after the

announcement of the results, respectively.

Also it is a motivation for others to work

harder in order to keep you on top in coming

examinations.

Q Tell us about your school and college education?

A I did my schooling from Karachi’s one of

the top ranking school of private sector

namely “Happy Home High School”. Where I

was topper of my class from the Montessori

and pre-primary classes and I was the only

child who covered the studies of Montessori in

4 months instead of studying the whole year

and took 1st position in my class.

I was used to be called as God gifted and

highly talented in my school. Not only was I

intelligent in my studies but was extra-circular

as well won spelling contest 4 times and made

my school proud by winning the whole stages

of Roshni Quranic Competition, was also a

good painting artist, participated and win

painting, acting, speech, debate, projects and

so many other competitions as well. I passed

my matriculation with A-one Grade.

But unfortunately I was not a good student in

college because with heavy influence of my

friends, taking admission in a government

college of Karachi and unable to study in that

environment due to which I lost my Grade and

secured Grade “B”. I was very ashamed when I

couldn’t get admission in NED University but I

didn’t lose hope n tried for admission in MUET

Jamshoro and get admission in MUET but on

special scheme it was another embarrassment

for me and I thought like I am a good student

but not an intelligent.

Getting admission in Industrial Department

was my desire because I was quite inspired by

the application of industrial engineering and

their functions as I’ve heard about those from

Ms. Anum Arshia Iqbal, 08 IN 115, from

the Department of Industrial

Engineering has secured First Position in

the Final Year.

We got an opportunity to talk and

know about her and about her hard

work and Mehran University in general.

my father as he is a purchase manager in an

Industry at Karachi. Afterwards in order to

bring all my respect in my family back I

worked really hard because I used to think that

engineering is very tough and I would not be

able to pass it even.

First term result announcement made me so

happy and urged me to continue hard

working to convert myself into some valuable

part of the society.

Q What things helped/inspired you to

secure position in the class?

A My first position was totally unexpected

for me because I worked really hard but

my thinking was to get pass in exams only but

afterwards in all other terms my previous

position and

maintenance

of my respect

in c lass

inspired me to

do efforts in

order not to

lose position.

Q How do you expect from your

graduation for getting job?

A During my under-graduation there were

very little expectation and I was also not

so much interested to work after graduation

but in my final term I got to know the scope as

when many companies advertised jobs in our

department and job vacancies were also there

in newspapers.

Some HR people came to hire fresh graduates

in our department and only two out of 65

students in our class were selected for the job,

where I am working right now. It was also a

big achievement for me to get job before

passing out and even before my final

presentation.

Q How was the atmosphere and level of

studies at Mehran University?

A Atmosphere was not that good when I

came as a new batch but with the

passage of

time it

excellent. In

short I can

say it as

much better

because it takes time to understand new place

new people and adjusting with people of

different areas.

Q Are you satisfied with the quality of

education at Mehran University?

A Very frankly, I am not satisfied because

practical work is lesser and dictating

In short I can say that atmosphere at Mehran is

much better because it takes some time to

understand new place new people and

adjusting with people of different areas.

theories is not an appropriate method of

engineering study and also there should be no

political influence is such educational institutes.

Many other lacking are there as well and as I

am a graduate of MUET want them to be

eliminated so that I feel proud even after 10

years when I tell anyone about my university.

There should be opportunities of internship

and more educational trips regarding the

topics we study by university and also job fair

should be introduced so that many students

get employed there at the moment. These all

efforts will boost the image of the university

and bring it up in ranking as well.

Q What thing you will miss the most at

Mehran University?

A There are several things about university that I miss; my class, my department, my

teachers, summers, winters, the cool breeze of

Jamshoro and the events and many more.

Q What would you suggest to juniors at the

University?

A I would suggest don’t go after position

but make yourself expert in any domain

of your interest and explore the scope of your

field of engineering so that it will be easier for

you to find job and do further education as

well.

Q What would you suggest the

administration of the University regarding

difficulties being faced by the students?

A I would suggest the administration that it

should become strong and make efforts

to at least reduce the political activities in

universities. As you can see due to boycotts

and certain corrupt activities we have lost our

position in ranking. I want my university in TOP

10 so it is university administration which can

bring it to that level.

Q What are you future plans?

A My future plans are to become expert in

ERP Software, Oracle and do masters in

Supply Chain and Finance as well since these

two fields are in scope these days.
