JOB DESCRIPTION Position: Accountant Department: Accounting Position Purpose: The accountant is responsible for recording, analyzing and reporting accounting and financial transactions. Principal Responsibilities: Maintain general and subsidiary ledgers and accounting records. Compile and analyze financial information to prepare and assist with general accounting functions. Maintain financial records including journal entries, and transactions associated with accounts payable, payroll, accounts receivable, receipts, inventory, fixed asset property records and bank reconciliations. Prepare balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports for management, regulatory agencies and other external parties. Review and analyze financial statements and transactions to ensure completeness, accuracy and conformity with generally accepted accounting practices and in conformity with regulatory agencies. Prepare and file timely sales, excise, payroll, and other tax reports. Maintain work papers and analyze financial information supporting financial records. Analyze and audit originating documents to substantiate accounting transactions. Maintain account reconciliation and analysis in accordance with established guidelines and procedures. Provide backup support of all accounting functions including Accounts Payable, Payroll, Inventory, Receipts, Sales, Billing, Fixed Assets, etc. Ensure timely completion of accounting responsibilities with proficiency on all computer and non-computer accounting functions Research and review appropriate guidelines to ensure that accounting procedures and recorded transactions are in accordance with GAAP, regulatory agencies, and company policies. 1

Provide leadership, support and recommendations for process improvement initiatives as well as investigating and recommending process changes.

Modify and document accounting systems and accounting procedures.Perform all other related duties as assigned by management.

Personnel Specifications

Education/ExperienceAssociate degree in Accounting required. One to three years accounting experience and experience with accounting software preferred. Must display proficiency with

personal computers and electronic spreadsheets, word processing and accounting software including Microsoft Office.

Job Knowledge:Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.

Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.Ability to create, read and interpret statistical and financial data.

Ability to pay close attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing the results of financial analysis and other reporting.

Physical Job Requirements and Working Conditions:Must be able to use a personal computer and associated software. Must have good financial analysis skills and communication skills. This individual has access to many confidential company records and must maintain the highest confidentiality. Some travel is required for training and meetings.

Excellent time management skills, including ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.Ability to learn new software programs.

Skilled in oral and written communication.Ability to communicate with employees and business contacts in a professional manner.

Position Relationships:

Reports to Controller.

Internal: Establishes and maintains a close working relationship with Controller, General Manager, President. Coordinates with other departments to obtain accounting or reporting data.

External: Serves as liaison with agencies; customers and vendors as needed.
