Prince Henry the Navigator- started first navigation school

Bartolomeo Dias-

Sent out voyages along Africa’s coastline to find a route to Asia,

make maps of coastline and spread religion to defeat Muslims.

Later set up at least 50 trading outposts along African and Asian Coastline

Vasco Da GamaDa Gama sailed from Lisbon, Portugal, around Africa's Cape of Good Hope, to India (and back) in 1497-1499.

many people thought that this was impossible because the Indian Ocean was not connected to any other seas.

Trade with Asia was not welcomed by Muslim merchants. Portugal has to fight to defend its trade route and eventually gains control.
