Just as Umberto Boccione’s futuristic man, an interior needs to express movement. Even when not driving. That’s why this BMW interior has a forward movement feeling; you can find it back in the seats and middle console. Besides that I was inspired by hammerhead sharks, the movement is clearly visible, but with the contradicting head shape it connects different. I used that metaphor for the connection between the middle console and dashboard.

For this 3 week project I made a hand made foam 3D model. I took a hands-on approach by just sanding the raw material, which was high density foam. Then I spray painted it for a nice and equal surface. After that I went on sketching and detailing.

THE HONDA.AN ATHLETE IN DAILY LIFE.

2 MONTHS

The idea is based on a soft inner part with hard outer shells. Like a pearl in a shell. This is where the idea came from. If you go further with this idea you can create some sort of sandwich, with a soft and precious inner layer, and two hard outer panels which are protecting the precious parts from the outer world. To visually connect the sides I added a panel in the front, the hood, and a panel in the rear, which connects both cantrails.

During this 2 month project at Coventry University I designed a B-segment city car for Honda. We had to stick to the hardpoints of the previous B-segment Honda, the Jazz.

For one year I was part of the designteam of FORZE Hydrogen racing team Delft. Together with 3 other Industrial Design students and 38 engineers. Together we designed and produced the bodywork for the Forze IV. I learned a lot that year. It was like everything that you had ever learned suddenly was needed.

Since the team was already working on its 4th car, we already had the knowledge from the 3 previous cars. The difference was that untill then, the team only made karts. This was the first formula student car for the team and first ever propelled by hydrogen.

This also ment a lot for the bodywork. Bigger car, more bodypanels, more freedom in that way. But also a lot more surfaces to draw, model and finally produce from glass fiber by hand lay-up.

An active two seater for adventourous people, that’s what this car is about. When you get older you grow up, but that doesn’t mean that you should stop playing. The Peugeot Silent Explorer is an electric luxury hatchback high on its feet, so you’ll never have to stop playing. If you want to go off-road, just do it!

Having the ultimate capabilities if you need it. That is what Range Rover is about. You might never need it, but it is about the feeling that you can if you want or have to. You are in control no matter what. But how can you still keep it elegant? In this project I researched how sleek can a Range Rover be?

As you might see this project is under construction. I am currenlty still working on the clay model in my spare time. I used my experience from the clay model made in Coventry on this one.
