CORE BANKING SYSTEMS

Agricultural Bank of Greece – Total Restructuring & Automation Project

Agricultural Bank of Greece (ABG), the second largest Bank in the country, with 450+ branches and over 5,000 personnel, issued in 1997 an international tender looking for a total solution aimed at defining and integrating the Bank’s new strategic directions in the following four key areas:

Development of a new Market Strategy, Re-organization and Business Process Reengineering, Hum an Resources Policies / Systems and Information Technology Strategy & Implementation of the new Integrated IT

System The Project was awarded to a consortium of companies headed by INTRASOFT INTERNATIONAL and constitutes one of the largest Projects ever awarded in the Balkans and the Mediterranean area. During the evaluation stage, INTRASOFT INTERNATIONAL’ banking technology and expertise competed successfully and prevailed over the largest IT and consulting companies. INTRASOFT International implemented the Project leading a consortium formed with the companies Monitor, Planet, Ernst & Young. In addition, other companies like Reuters, KPMG and Hay Consultants participated in the Project as INTRASOFT International’ sub-contractors providing specialized products and services to the Project, the integration of which was managed by INTRASOFT International. A significant characteristic of the Project was the active participation of the Bank in many areas, thus ensuring the transfer of know-how to the personnel of the Bank, as well as the proper exploitation and utilization of the Project results. This Project, aiming at the full restructuring and modernization of the whole Bank (central departments and branches), included four sub-Projects: Project I: Market Strategy During Project I, the external environment of the banking sector, the banking market in Greece, the competition and the internal environment of ABG were analyzed and evaluated. Subsequently and in close co-operation with the Bank's executives, the new strategy of ABG was defined containing competitive positioning in the market, targeting of new market segments, generation of new products and services, definition of medium-term goals, 5-year master business plan, annual action plans and results monitoring plans. Further steps included implementation monitoring on a yearly basis and adjustments of the plans based on actual results, always working closely together with the Bank. Project II: Organization and Business Process Reengineering Based on the strategic goals and directions defined in Project I, as well as on a detailed study of the existing situation inside the Bank, the complete reengineering and reorganization of organizational structures, processes and management techniques were carried out at the tactical level. The scope of the work included the central, regional and branch levels. Implementation planning in detail was also provided.

Project III: Human Resources Management Policies & Systems Based on the results of Projects I and II, the new human resources management processes, techniques and systems were defined and put in place. Personnel roles and processes were also defined and a detailed implementation plan was established. Project IV: Information Technology Strategy Planning & New IT System Implementation An overall Information Strategy Planning (ISP) project was carried out, based on the results of Projects I and II, taking into account the assessment of the current application infrastructure and the new technology trends and opportunities. Subsequently, INTRASOFT International carried out, with the participation of the Bank, the implementation of the Bank’s new Integrated Banking System based on software templates of multiple PROFITS® Subsystems selected by the Bank according to its needs, fully covering its core banking operations through a customer-centric, real-time and multi-currency environment. The multi-platform Integrated Application Development Environment AllFusion Gen (CASE tool) of Computer Associates has been used throughout the project implementation life cycle. In addition, the overall Project included a fifth sub-Project aiming at providing quick results in particular banking and operational areas, as follows. Project V: Urgent Interventions Due to their high significance for the Bank’s success and coverage of current critical needs, specific areas were identified for urgent interventions and actions, therefore resuting to the implementation of the following sub-projects: Risk Management: Organizational structure, processes and techniques were proposed for the purpose of establishing the overall risk management function of the Bank according to international standards and practices. Dealing Room Information System (Kondor+): Reuters software package Kondor+ for front and middle office dealing operations was installed and put in operation. This system fully supports the functioning of an integrated Dealing Room with the goal of sophisticated trading risk management. Also, the interfacing middleware PATH of CATHOX was installed, in order to support the connectivity of Kondor+ with other systems of the Bank. Capital Adequacy Directives (CAD) Monitoring System: An dedicated information system was installed and put in operation for the calculation of capital adequacy regulatory requirements and the submission of CAD data to the Central Bank of Greece. Interfaces are provided between this system and the new banking applications, for the automatic transfer of operational data to the CAD system. Loan Portfolio Restructuring: A study was carried out for the restructuring of the existing loan portfolio, as well as for the definition of new credit assessment procedures. Payroll System: A payroll & pensions application package that covers the specialized needs of the Bank was implemented and put in operation. Existing application improvements: Services were provided by INTRASOFT International to the ABG IT division for short-term improvements in existing applications of the Bank.

Societe Generale GENIKI Bank - Integrated Banking Information System

Societe Generale Geniki Bank is one of the medium size retail and commercial banks in Greece, recently acquired by the SoGen Group and operating about 120 branches throughout the country. The Bank had commissioned INTRASOFT International to implement an Integrated Banking Information based on the Universal Banking System PROFITS®. Part of the overall Project was an Information Strategy Planning (ISP) short-term project for the implementation of the new solution. At the initial stage, PROFITS® primarily aimed to cover the needs of servicing and monitoring the Bank’s lending operations both at branch and central levels, offering full-blown real-time credit operations, multi-currency processing and Euro compliance. Initally installed PROFITS® Subsystems included Customer Management, Product Management, Loans, Overdrafts, Collaterals Management, Credit Agreements, Security & Authorizations, Teller/Branch Support and Parameters. In addition, the Bank awarded to INTRASOFT International the automation of its financial management and control operations (i.e. Accounting, General Ledger, Budgeting, Cost Allocation both at branch and central operations levels) through the implementation of corresponding PROFITS® Subsystems. Following the aforementioned PROFITS® implementation, the Bank subsequently awarded to INTRASOFT International the implementation of additional PROFITS® Subsystems (Deposits, Funds Transfer Foreign Exchange, etc) which were adapted to the needs of the Bank and were put in live operation along with the new version of previously installed PROFITS® Subsystems , thus forming an overall uniform and integrated environment of real-time banking operations that fully covers the business and IT needs of the Bank. INTRASOFT International was also awarded contract extensions for the implementation of the Bank’s Balance of Payments operations according to the local regulatory requirements, as well as the supply and installation of additional PROFITS® Subsystems to cover new banking products and services (i.e. Underwriting, Securities, Third-Party Payments, Letters of Guarantee, various interfaces to the National ATM Switching and Clearing Centre DIAS, connection to the ΑΤΜ Management System, ΑΤΜ Operation Monitoring System, etc). Throughout the PROFITS® implementation cycle (requirement analysis, technical design and implementation) INTRASOFT International used the Information Engineering Methodology and implemented the Project according to the International Quality Standards (ISO 9001) under the control and monitoring of INTRASOFT International’ Quality Assurance Department. INTRASOFT International implemented PROFITS® Subsystems with the use of the modern CASE tool AllFusion Gen (a product of Computer Associates distributed by INTRASOFT International in Greece and other countries). All PROFITS® Subsystems operate at the Bank’s preferred technical platform that includes an IBM Host (OS/390, DB2, CICS), and Windows NT for the branch (branch server and workstations with graphical user interface). As a result PROFITS® has offered to the Bank an Integrated, multi-currency, 24x7 Real-Time processing environment, fully enriched with customer-oriented design features, servicing central departments, branches and electronic delivery channels. Through PROFITS®

implementation, the Bank achieved quick launching of new products and services, as well as improved management of customer relationships enabled via tailored pricing policies according to individual customer needs. The complete modernization of its IT infrastructure was part of the Bank’s overall modernization plan that has dramatically facilitated its productivity maximization and led to the Bank’s successful repositioning in the Greek market.

GENIKI Bank -Upgrade to new version PROFITS® v. 7.0 with simultaneous technological platform change

INTRASOFT International, successfully completed the upgrade of the Core Banking System of GENIKI Bank, member of the Société Générale Group to the new version of PROFITS® v. 7.5, as well as the change of its operating platform. The project is of great importance to INTRASOFT International, demonstrating once more the company’s strong know-how in the implementation of large banking projects.

The new version of PROFITS® v. 7.5 was successfully powered on the new, latest generation platform ΙΒΜ Power7/ AIX/ORACLE/TUXEDO. Version 7.5 is the newest version of the PROFITS® Core Banking System with a significant number of installations in Banks in Europe & globally. International Consulting companies have ranked PROFITS® v. 7.5 as one of the Core Banking Platforms of the Future, having evaluated as “impressive” its new and improved capabilities, esp. its new “rule-based” system architecture. PROFITS® v. 7.5 Core Banking System can work on a number of new architecture and open standards operating platforms.

This new platform adopts modern clustering, partitioning and virtualization techniques and guarantees the availability of critical applications, while offering flexibility to the Bank to respond rapidly to new market needs or emerging opportunities, with reduced operational and maintenance costs.

With the new version PROFITS® v. 7.5, GENIKI Bank can enhance its capability of instant response to emerging opportunities, by designing and offering rapidly new and innovative products and services to its customers, thus reducing significantly the cost and the time to market. This is achieved through the new “rule-based” system architecture that provides the Bank with the capability to define new functionalities, reporting, payments and interfacing. These rules can

dynamically change, according to Bank policy, without programming and changes to the source code of the system.

In addition, INTRASOFT International provided training to the Bank’s technical staff on the use of the new platform, as well as on-site support services.

Mr. Dimitris Papadakis – CIO, GENIKI Bank, stated: “These two projects are of strategic importance to us, as they relate to the Bank’s operation. Our goal is to constantly upgrade the services we offer to our clients, optimize our internal procedures and reduce costs. Our long-standing cooperation with INTRASOFT International is reinforced by another successful completion of a large and important project.”

In addition, its customer-centered architecture and modular design have enabled the Bank to easily create new banking products, tailored to specific customer segments, according to the dynamically changing market needs. BOV Awards & Executive Testimonials PROFITS® implementation contributed to the Bank’s improved performance in the market and the generation of new business growth. As a result, the Bank received in 2001 a prestigious award by Financial Times’ Edition “THE BANKER” which nominated Bank of Valletta as “The Best Bank in Malta”. In addition, Bank of Valletta has also been awarded the “2003 Financial Innovation Award” organized by the UK Organization “Institute of Financial Services” and sponsored by British Telecom, for its Customer Relationship Management Strategy. Both abovementioned distinctions achieved by BOV, are representative of the Bank’s efficient operational organization and of its modern, state-of-the-art IT infrastructure, the implementation of which was entrusted to INTRASOFT International as stated in the Bank’s Top Management testimonials: “Our lasting relationship with INTRASOFT International has enabled the Bank to exploit the latest technologies and employ the very best work practices in the world of retail banking. It is largely to INTRASOFT International’ credit and a direct result of implementing PROFITS® that today, within BOV IT is considered a key strength enabling the implementation of future strategies”, stressed Victor Denaro, Executive Head IT of BOV. “PROFITS® ultimately enabled the Bank to replace its Retail Banking System with a modern client-server environment which led to the implementation of a Data Warehouse project through which strategic analysts were able to model and analyze functions pertaining to activity-based costing, customer contribution, data mining and CRM®”, quoted Joseph Zahra, Chairman of BOV. Since the beginning of PROFITS® operation at Bank of Valletta, INTRASOFT International provides the Bank with remote technical support and maintenance services via its 24x7 Help Desk in Athens (and with on-site technical services in Malta as needed). The IT Head of the Bank has commented on the quality of support and maintenance services received: “We, at Bank of Valletta, would like to express our appreciation that over the past years we have received good and reliable support for our real-time (24x7) operation from INTRASOFT International whenever we requested so”, mentioned Joseph M. The Project started in 1998 and involved the implementation of the Integrated customer-centric & multi-currency Core Banking System PROFITS® of INTRASOFT International for the needs of the Bank, across the entire spectrum of its banking operations. PROFITS® implementation has offered APS Bank a competitive advantage in the market by combining a technically advanced banking system with powerful and flexible business functionality in a scalable architecture. The Bank has achieved the introduction of new complex products in a short “time-to-market” through the System’s open adjustable functional platform. At the same time, the Bank’s delivery channels are handled through PROFITS®

technical engine ensuring the processing of continuously expanding types of services on a 24x7 real time basis. In addition, APS Bank was enabled through PROFITS® implementation to obtain an immediate, real time and complete view of the customer at all times. Further to the streamlined management of customer information, centralized customer management allowed product-wide views of customer activity, holdings and exposures. PROFITS® implementation for APS Bank included the following sub-systems:

Customer Management

Product Management

Deposits

SYSTEMS FOR CENTRAL BANKS

European Central Bank: H1 & H2 APPLICATIONS

INTRASOFT International was awarded a contract by the European Monetary Institute, the forerunner of the European Central Bank (ECB), to develop software applications for the European System of Central Banks - ESCB. The applications, referred to as the H1&H2 applications, facilitated the ECB to conduct monetary policy and in particular Open Market Operations (TOP application), Bilateral Interventions (BI application) as well as Exchange of Financial Data between the ECB and the National central banks (ENSD application):

Open Market Operations play a significant role in the conduct of monetary policy by the ESCB since it is one of the key instruments at ESCB's disposal for the steering of interest rates, managing the liquidity in the financial markets as well as signaling the stance of monetary policy. The TOP application enabled the ECB and the National Central Banks (NCB's) to perform the intra-ESCB part of the latter operations.

The BI application is concerned with the Foreign Exchange and Money Market Operations. Both operations are characterized by a short timeframe, a limited number of counter-parties, and the need to have a near real-time application behavior.

The ENSD application is utilized for the exchange of a wide range of financial data between the NCB's and the ECB.

All three applications (TOP, BI, ENSD) are used exclusively by the ECB and the NCB's based on the ESCB's communication network. The H1&H2 applications were designed, implemented and tested by two teams; the first team was permanently stationed at the EMI premises in Frankfurt and the second team was operating at INTRASOFT International’ Head offices in Athens. The applications have a client/server architecture with a two-node server cluster to ensure high availability and run on Microsoft technology. The design of the H1&H2 applications was performed with the Unified Modeling Language – UML and Rational Rose as the CASE tool. The H1&H2 applications follow a logical three-tier model consisting of data services, business services and presentation services. With respect to the TOP and ENSD applications, the three-tier model is implemented physically in a two-tier model. The data services and business services are deployed in the SQL Server. The business logic is implemented as stored procedures and triggers within the database. The TOP/ENSD applications have stringent features with respect to the security and the message delivery within predefined time constraints (secure interfaces, high-availability messaging, extensive mail delivery notification, error reporting, message integrity checking, etc).

Agricultural Bank of Greece– Information Strategy Planning

The Information Strategy Planning (ISP) was part of the overall restructuring Project of Agricultural Bank of Greece. During the entire implementation process, special emphasis was given to the participation of the bank’s IT personnel to ensure the required know-how transfer. The Information Strategic Planning covered the following areas:

ISP as a part of ABG’s Overall Restructuring Project: The analysis examined how Information Technology serves the market strategy and the Bank’s functional model, as well as the role of IT as a decisive factor for the Bank’s Business Process Reengineering and Risk Management.

Existing Information Systems: INTRASOFT International studied and assessed in detail the existing state of Information Systems utilized in the bank (application software, technical platforms, telecommunications networks, development environments, etc.).

Proposed Applications Architecture: As a result of the previous analysis INTRASOFT International formed a detailed blueprint for the applications architecture. This was based on templates of INTRASOFT International’ integrated banking system PROFITS®, by means of which and with the use of the AllFusion Gen CASE tool, the required applications of the bank will be configured. The new applications architecture ensures the customer oriented and multi-currency concept, flexibility for the definition of new banking products and Euro compliance. Special emphasis was given to the required security infrastructure and 24-hour continuous operation, as well as ensuring the independence of the proposed systems from the bank’s organizational structure and the adoption of modern servicing roles at the branch (e.g. uni-teller). For the definition of the applications architecture, the priorities of the overall business strategy of the Bank were considered. The corresponding specifications were incorporated in a structured way into a unified ISP model using AllFusion Gen (business areas, functions, processes, entities, goals, critical success factors, etc.).

Proposed Technology Architecture: In the context of the proposed technical architecture, special emphasis was placed to the harmonization with modern trends, the adoption of international standards, the open systems philosophy and the high availability of the systems. This stage defined the specifications for central host systems, branch platform, relational databases, telecommunications networks, disaster recovery center, enterprise systems management and ATM network.

Methodological and Organizational Framework for IT: The proposed methodological framework was based on the principles of the Information Engineering Methodology for the implementation of IT Projects and was supported by the integrated CASE environment AllFusion Gen for the applications development in multiple platforms. Also, at this stage the strategy for migration to the new architecture was studied, and the functions and responsibilities of new roles of the proposed IT division of the bank were defined.

IT Project Master Plan: For the implementation of what were proposed in the above stages, an overall master plan of IT Projects was produced, which defined the gradual implementation of applications in a specified time horizon, taking into consideration the priorities deriving from strategic and technical factors. During the entire implementation process, special emphasis was given to the participation of IT personnel of the bank, so as to ensure the required know-how transfer.

Strategic Effect on the Bank: Finally, the strategic benefits to the bank, as well as the main critical success factors for the implementation of this major IT Project were identified.

The network aims at providing a reliable and efficient communications infrastructure for the operation of ABG information systems. Furthermore, the network provides an Intranet that spans across all ABG premises and supports business applications. AGB’s network is a nation-wide hierarchical network of mesh topology (dual homed) at the backbone layer and star topology at the regional and access layers. At the backbone layer of the network is the IT Headquarters where the main information system applications are hosted. Moreover:

Backbone Layer: 7 Nodes dual homed with connection speed of (2 Μbps)

Regional Layer: 47 Nodes with connection speed of (128 Kbps)

Access Layer: 529 Nodes with connection speed of (64 kpbs)

The network operation is monitored and managed with the use of Central Network Management Center.

OMEGA Bank – Multiservice Network

INTRASOFT International designed, implemented and supports the multiservice communications network of Omega Bank, a modern commercial bank in Greece. The communications network is based on Cisco IP Telephony solutions and supports voice and data services. The network consists of 10 nodes interconnected with leased lines on a nation wide scale. Each node provides WAN and LAN services as well as, voice gateway services for the public ISDN Telephony network. The availability of the network rises with the use of ISDN backup connections between the main and the branch node. The topology of the network is hub and spoke with the main node being the IT node at the headquarters. Furthermore, at the main node, the network provides remote access services for the users as well as, connection to the Internet and other Value Added networks. Over the IP telephony infrastructure unified messaging is supported. Omega Insurance and Omega Finance sites, a total of 5 nodes, are communicating securely and efficiently over Omega Bank’s IP network. The network is operated and managed by sophisticated NMS software tools, located in the Network Operation Center.

Greek Post Savings Bank – Data Networking

INTRASOFT International, in collaboration with the Hellenic PTT OTE, undertook the design, supply, staging and installation of the Greek Post Savings Bank data network, using Cisco Systems technology. The network comprises of about 120 branch offices spreading throughout the country that are interconnected to the main computing system in Athens through leased lines. The network is hierarchical and consists of core, distribution and access networks (to which all branch offices belong). The network provides necessary interconnection to the main computing system, but also VoIP services in an integrated data and voice network.
