Description: A duplex folding brochure for an animal shelter called “Furry Friends”

Process and Programs: I used Illustrator to create the logo, then I chose the newsletter layout to create a brochure in InDesign. I used the font Euphorigenic for the titles and subtitles. I created curved shapes with the pen tool and filled them with color. I chose colors green and yellow, and overlapped them so they looked like different-colored lines. I created paws with the pen tool and filled them with color brown and gray. For the circle on the inside, I downloaded the picture of a dog and removed the background in Photoshop, then I placed it on the circle, and wrapped the text around it. I also wrapped the text in the body copy around the pictures of a dog and a cat. I added contact information at the back of my brochure and made circles for each info.

MontageDescription: A Montage made in Photoshop

Process and Programs:I opened a new blank document in Photoshop. I inserted the image of the Salt Lake City temple. I chose the filter “Soft Focus Lens Effect” to make it look more like a real background. Then I opened the image of clouds with the same color scheme. With the lasso tool I selected the part that I wanted with an opacity of 80 px. I inserted to my design. I inserted the image of two hands reaching to each other. I deleted the background with both the magic tool and the background eraser tool. I added a mask of the same image and reduced the fill to 39%, then I erased the hand below with the brush at 100% opacity. I used the font Precious Regular for the quote. I chose to make the words “Love” and “everlastingly” bigger than the rest, and the name of the author smaller. I flattened the layers and adjusted the shadow in the “Levels” option. I also increased the intensity +35. I inserted a lens flare filter.

PhotodesignDescription: A design made in Photoshop

Process and Programs:First, I thought of what I wanted to design in Photoshop. I decided that I wanted to make a design for a quote I liked. I browsed my favorite quotes in a Pinterest board, and found this one. The first thing I thought was : Winnie the Pooh is red and yellow. I had to decide what other color I should use to have a great color scheme and I came up with a Big Split Complementary color scheme. It was easy to choose green and blue as additional colors because I immediately thought of placing my Winnie the Pooh stuffed animal on green grass, with the blue sky in the background.. I used Photoshop CC to adjust the colors to make the picture brighter and the colors more vibrant. I fixed the cyan sky to make it a true blue sky. I drew different circles in the colors of my color scheme, that resemble bubbles, I changed portions of the typography to a childlike font, and put more space between each speech.

LogosDescription: A logo for a company

Process and Programs:I drew some sketches before I started with Illustrator. I downloaded and installed “Walkway Bold”. I drew cirles and rectangles to resemble eyes, lashes and lips. With the pen tool, I filled the spaces in the e’s from the word “eyes” and made them blue to make them look like eyeshadow. I aligned the three words equally to the left, but resized the word “lips”, so the “S” with the lips would be aligned with the eyes on the e’s from the word “eyes”, and it would look like a face. I made the word “and” small, because that one is the less important, and I didn’t want it to take much space. I made two other versions in Grayscale and white on a fucsia background.

Web PageDescription: A website to explain the process behind my logo

Process and Programs:I used Notepad++ to edit two documents: one HTML document, and one pre-made CSS document. My HTML contains the logo I created in previous weeks, and a brief description of the process I followed to create it. I used Photoshop to find out my HEX color codes, and used them as the colors for the background color and the headings. I edited colors, typography, font-size and links with the CSS document.

Event AdDescription: An ad for a Breast Cancer Awareness Event

Process and Programs:I used Microsoft Word to create this ad. I scanned the image of the face of a woman and cropped it in half. I deleted the background. I have both a sans serif and a decorative typeface. I chose the decorative one for the words "Breast Cancer". I aligned the image to the left and the text to the right. I added rectangles as the background of different portions of text to group similar information together. I inserted the image of a pink ribbon, and made an abstract woman sillhouette with pink shapes.

Business CardDescription: A business card for a construction company

Process and Programs:First, I designed the logo in Illustrator. I asked my brother for the name and the type of company we would like to have, as well as an idea for a logo and color scheme. He chose the name “Beehive” for his company, and wanted a simple beehive as the logo. He didn’t want a fancy typography, and I agreed since it all was meant to look professional. He chose a monochromatic color scheme in blue and black. I created the logo with ovals and curves with the pen tool. Then I designed the letterhead and business cards in In Design.I chose a blue wave as the decorative element of both the letterhead and the business cards, a big beehive with 19% of opacity in both and professional looking typography.

I copied the Contact info. and made it bigger.
