Location: Afogados, ex-industrial area in Recife (PE-Brazil), in which nowadays there are only old small factories and warehouses with little or none historical and architectural interest. This few existing architecture ignores the environment, which includes a great mangrove area, a native vegetation of the city, next to the rivers. Work Group: Aline Marques, Débora Machado, Frederica Dias and Marília Farias Project developed during RxA Workshop (http://recifeamsterdam.blogspot.com.br/) between UFPE and ARCAM (Amsterdam, Netherlands)

TRAIN OF THOUGHT Creating na Intermodal Axis
1 Create an access to the area through the river basin 2 With de creation of a boat station, we need to connect it with the existing metro station.
5° Connecting these 3 kinds of transport, we create an intermodal axis
3° It’s very important the access to the area through de metro station, across the metro line.

4° There’s an important space to consider: Largo da Paz Square, where there is a huge circulation of people. It’s a commercial area and it works like a bus terminal.

With seven floors and pilotis structure, the building incorporates constructive references from the local modern archictecture and suits to the local climate (warm and wet) and to the landscape. It
was designed integrated to the proposed urban plan, dialoguing with the streets and with the parks that surround it.

so the wind can circle through the flat. 18
