Design is where science and art breakeven

It's little details that are vital. Little things make big things happen

- John Woden

03Design DrawingMixed Media

Colour does not add a pleasant qualityto design - it reinforces it.

- Pierre Bonnard

Insipration exists but it has to find youworking.

- Pablo Picasso

“”

05Form Abstraction AbstractionTo study the elements of a natural object and its environment to understandthe principles and functionalities resulting thereof

- Salvador Dali

Have no fear of perfection, you will never achieve it

“”

06Display And ControlProject BriefTo design an interactive display system for the Automated ticket vending machines for Mumbai locals.

AnalysisTo change the form of the ATVM.To create a user friendly interface

InterventionCreation of a wall mounted kiosk to save space at the railway station.Making the display system more interactive. To make refilling the smart card using money and credit cards possible

- Hans hger

Designers have a dual duty; contractually to their clients and morally to the later users and recipients of their work.

07Display And ControlKey LearningPlacements and grouping of buttons in order to make it more ergonomically friendly for the UserUnderstanding how a good GUI’s can help speed up processesStudying anthropometry to understand the right position of forms. right position of forms.

- Albert Einstein

If you do what you always did, you will get what you always got.

08Technical Product DesignProject BriefTo study the internal mechanisms as well as electromagnetic components of the Hand DrillTo Understand the manufacturing processes as well as materials.

Key LearningTo study the internal mechanisms as well as electromagnetic components of the Hand DrillTo Understand the manufacturing processes as well as materials.

- Tim Brown

Where you innovate, how you innovate, and what you innovate are design problems.

09Techno Aesthetic DetailingProject BriefTo apply ergonomic principles and visual semantics to design a complex product

AnalysisThe Spray Gun lacks a stand, an auto lock mechanism as well as a measuring device for air release

InterventionDesigned a cam system on the handle of the gun which acts as a trigger to lock or unlock the spraying at a set level. An add on stand which helps the spray gunstay vertical when not in use.Measuring device for the air flow.

- Human Factors International

If the user cant find it, the function's not there.

“”

10Techno Aesthetic DetailingKey LearningTo study basic mechanisms as well as their assembliesTo design for manufacturing. To bring about subtle changes in a product in order to increase its aesthetic as well as functional value.

- Yasin Japardi

There's no shortcut for greatness“ ”

11Product PackagingProject BriefTo redesign the packaging of Carlsberg Beer.

- David A. Stuebe

Don't try and reinvent the wheel - just work on making it better than anyone else

12Concrete Saw RedesignProject BriefTechnically complex product design projectto redesign a concrete cutting road saw.

AnalysisCutting depth of the blade is only 30-35%of its diameter. There is also no guide rail to ensure cuttingin a straight line. This greatly reduces blade life.

- Henry Hord

If I would have asked people what they wanted, they would have saidfaster horses.

13Concrete Saw RedesignInterventionIntroduction of a new blade mechanismThe new mechanism consists of a sun gearsystem with planetary gears around itrotating on the involute gear. Also there is the introduction of the guiderail to help perform the function of cutting in a stin a straight line. The wheels are also bent inward to help motion along a straight line.

- Mieke Gerritzen

Good design goes to Heaven; bad design goes everywhere.

“”

14Concrete Saw RedesignKey LearningTo look at products in a new light.Mechanisms and their limitations.Paradigm shifts are sometimes necessary.Products should be useful, usable as well as aesthetic. To study a products complexity and designsolutions with respect to them.solutions with respect to them.

- David Jury

Rules can be broken - but never ignored.

15Design for Special NeedsProject BriefTo design a means or product to help the patient perform daily physiotherapy from the comfort of his home or from a physiotherapy center.

AnalysisThis is the stage of physiotherapy where the patient has to strengthen his muscles so that he is able to do his day to day activities. In paraplegic patients this is where the patient is taught to strengthen his muscles so that they can maso that they can make up for the loss of limbs.Equipment that is used in these types of physiotherapy include free weights, pulleys, slings, slide boards, straps, belts, theraband, etc.

- Chris Pullman

Design is not the narrow application of formal skills, it is a way of thinking.

16Design for Special NeedsInterventionTheraband to be used as a physiotherapic exercise equipment. The theraband gives resistance to the patient in order to help strengthen his muscles.Providing an easy way to make the thetheraband adjustable and clampable.

Key LearningLearning to design for people with specialneeds.Desiging for this set user group posesses various chalanges and dificulties.Taking care of all this was the core of the given design project

- William Allin

Education is not the answer to the question. Education is the means to answer all questions.

17Interaction DesignProject BriefTo design an intranet portal for the collegestudents and staff

- Plato

We should pursue and practice moderation.

“”

18Interaction DesignProject BriefTo design an intranet portal for the collegestudents and staff

- Louis Sullivan

Form follows function.“ ”

19MiscellaneousPhotographyExperimentation with long exposure photography.

- Jacob Cass

Remember it takes alot of shit, to create a beautiful flower.
