First, I would like to dedicate this portfolio first to my fiance, Peter, for his unending, constant support in my pursuit of being able to say, “I love what I do.”

Second, I would like to dedicate this portfolio to my AiCA-SD instructors, Jack Beduhn, FAIA and Jessica Newman, who taught me how to hand sketch and render with accuracy and ease. Without you, I would not be

the designer I am today. Thank you.

SOLUTION:

• Since the cuisine was fresh, seasonal coastal California cuisine, the idea of a changing menu inspired the idea of different experiences in different dining areas.

• A small show kitchen is incorporated into the Spring Room, but also adjacent to the boutique, which sells organic products made in the kitchen such as jams and jellies.

• A bar height dining area is also available in front of the main kitchen for diners who want to watch how their food is being prepared.

Spring Dining Room

• The concept for the Spring Room was inspired by elements from a garden.

• The tall column-like pillars are custom designed to fuse plants and water.

• A large ceramic bowl with foliage sits at the top and spirals off the sides as water flows down the pillar.

• In the center of the room is a pool of octagon shaped pool that reflect the architecture of the Spring Room.

Google An existing 2nd floor space at 1170 Market Street,San Francisco, CA To create a Golden Gate Park inspired corporate office that follows the whimsical and unique nature of existing Google offices

Google Green Headquarters Lobby Sketch

Page 21: Portfolio

SOLUTION:

• As this was Google Corporate Green Headquarters, one very essential questions emerged - What is the greenest part of San Francisco? Golden Gate Park.

• Therefore, my solutions were inspired by the park itself, which included natural materials in conjunction with the smell of grass, especially as you enter the lobby.

• The visual and sensual connection with grass would intentionally remind Google employees of their responsibility to be green.

• This lobby rendering was essential to the idea of branding Google.

• From the first moment someone steps into the lobby of Google Green, they will see boxes of fresh grass under punctured acrylic, square panels.

• Since these grass boxes are recessed into the floor, they are not in the way.

• Everyone who enters the lobby, however, will be able to smell the grass because the acrylic panels allows the smell of grass to pass through.

• Clients and employees alike are also welcomed by natural materials such as reclaimed wood and grass ottomans.

• The conference room needed to seat 30 people, which was a challenge in itself during the space planning phase.

• Center pivot doors were incorporated into the design so that the space could be private as well as public.

• It was important that such a large space be accessible in the event of a social large gathering or for a similar type of event.

• For the design of this long wall, 3 Form resin panels are placed at both ends of the corridor.

• Custom wrapped panels featuring natural motifs enhance the connection to the outdoors.

• Lounge spaces were also incorporated into the space to encourage people to move around in the space for the purposes of well being as well as collaboration.

• A mezzanine that penetrated through the seventh floor also attributed to the open feeling, but can also be used as a casual meeting space.

• This encourages residents and guests to mingle in a space that is open and welcoming.

• The kitchen is also designed to have clerestory skylights, allowing more light into the center of the space.
