bioAfter living and working as a freelance graphic designer in Toyko, Japan for the last 8 years, I am

now located in Melbourne, Australia. I specialised in advertising and promotional design, packaging,

corporate identity and web design, I strive to create designs that are attractive, clean, and edgy,

and that will set the client apart from the rest. I believe strongly that ‘less is more’, and my designs

reflect this. My strengths in layout and composition, as well as use of color are also reflected in my

photography. I believe that the beauty in photography is having that innate nature of noticing the

small things in life, and being able to capture that in a unique and creative way is something I strive

to achieve. Creativity is my outlet and I have great passion for what I do.

“The creative is the place where no one else has ever been. You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you’ll discover will be wonderful. What you’ll discover is yourself”. Alan Alda

Scuba virgins from all over fl ock to Koh Tao to learn how to dive. Not only is this lush, pistachio-coloured island blessed with crystal clear water and trippy coral reefs shallow enough for beginners to explore; it’s also is one of the world’s cheapest and most popular places to get your open-water dive certifi cation – only Cairns in Australia issues more PADI diving certifi cates each year. Diving is defi nitely the island’s mainstay, and on its busiest areas you can’t walk 100m without tripping over a shop. Once you choose an outfi tter, there are dozens of spectacular reefs with plentiful marine life to swim through.

Once considered exclusively a dive destination, these days Koh Tao is nearly as popular with non-divers as it is with scuba enthusiasts. Small (it measures just 21 sq km) and laid-back, it’s become a haven for those seeking the beauty found on big sisters Koh Samui and Koh Pha-Ngan without the chaos. Fast and frequent ferries make travel to Koh Tao easy, and once you arrive there’s plenty of entertainment – from lounging on pristine beaches to mountain biking through the lush and rugged interior. All in all Koh Tao is a romantic place, where nights are casual affairs, usually involving a quiet drink by candlelight on a cushion near the edge of the sea.

From Bangkok (via Chumporn)By Train - From Bangkok to Chumporn (For travellers not in a hurry) The Express- (Bangkok - Chumporn) depart Bangkok 19:15 daily and arrives in Chumporn between 03:30 and 05:00am. Ask the conductor to wake you up at Chumporn Station.

where to stay

experience the magic under the surface

Although the island of Koh Tao is a beauty in itself, the most spectacular scenery can be found in the underwater world. This is the primary reason why the island has become a mecca for scuba divers across the world. Coral reefs, deep off-shore pinnacles and rock formations can be reached within ten minutes by boat. Here you can fi nd rocks that come alive through sponges, anemones, and soft and hard corals around Koh Tao island . Lucky divers and snorkellers can even spot the massive, harmless whale sharks in season, or manta rays and turtles while swimming among schools of exotic fi sh. For those unwilling to scuba dive but dying to see the underwater world, snorkeling gear is available all over the island. With a water temperature between 27 and 30 degrees Celsius everyone falls in love with the sea!!!!

rustic beach huts to 5-star resorts

Koh Tao now offers everything from super cheap beach huts to luxurious 5-star resorts and private pool villas.Accommodation on Koh Tao has improved considerably over the last few years with air-conditioned resorts supplementing the basic bungalows and rustic huts located along the island's beaches and bays. Most accommodation can be found on Sairee, the longest beach (2 kilometres) on the island; Mae Haad, the main pier and Chalok Baan Kao bay, southeast of Mae Haad. Prices range from 100 baht (bamboo hut, shared shower and toilets) to 1,900 baht ++ comfortable rooms in resort, pool, etc.. Unlike many of the other islands, demand is usually higher than supply, so booking is recommended at busy times..

For a small island, Koh Tao has a remarkably buzzy nightlife. As the sun dips after a hard day it's time for sundowner on the beach, followed by a good meal on the beach followed by some good music and dancing on the beach. The main villages, Mae Haad and Sairee, have the widest choice of bars and clubs. Many bars/pubs show movies and sports nightly and often have pool tables as well. Find out about what's happening from local ads in shops, taxis or word or mouth. Normally, there is something going on every night. The Full, Half and Black Moon parties also take place in Ko Tao - often impromptu, and apparently as good, if not better, than the ones in Samui and Phangan.

LAYOUT >Book cover design : The Geometry of Nitsche’s Corporate Mission

The Geometry of NITSCHE'S CORPORATE MISSION

Swiss-born Erik Nitsche was a pioneer in the design of books, annual reports, and other printed material that relied on meticulous atten-tion to the details of page composition, the elegance of simple type presentation, and the juxtaposition of elements on a page. His hallmarks were impeccably clear design, brilliant colors, smart typography, and an adherence to particular geometric foundations.

.

Nitsche is best known for his historic relationship with the engineering company General Dynamics. He designed a breakthrough series of posters, in addition to designing their corporate image, annual reports, and advertising. He was hired as art director for General Dynamics and savored designing technical data for such things as hydraulic systems and cross-sections of airplanes. One of the greatest compliments ever paid to Nitsche was from former Bauhaus master Lazlo Moholy Nagy, who saw some of his work and asked a mutual acquaintance: "Who was that doing the Bauhaus in America?"

General Dynamics products ranged from atomic-powered submarines to electric motors for destroyers to the B-58 supersonic jet bomber and the commercial 880 jet transport. In the early 1950s, the spin on nuclear power was that it heralded peace and progress. Among other things, he introduced his abstract drawing style to give a futuristic aura that at once suggested General Dynamics' products as well as its progressive aspirations.

Nitsche's work for General Dynamics used a mostly symbolic expression of the company's corporate mission, since GD was prevented by the government from showcasing any products or inventions that were classied as top-secret commissions.

Nitsche's rst job for General Dynamics was to develop a graphic means for presenting peaceful uses for the atom. In addition to his artistic inspirations, Nitsche derived much of his imagery from science itself, as evidenced in the abstracted symbols for isotopes used in his posters.

The Geom

etry of Nitsche's Corporate M

ission

Nitsche's style might be seen today as representa-tive of the so-called "Atomic-Style" that emerged in the mid-1950s. Superuous images were rejected in favor of dynamic silhouettes and vignettes of bold and striking geometric forms. Nitsche was one of the most famous "corporate" graphic designers whose style of simplicity of form translated into a melodi-ous visual language.
