Message from the DC
Hi Everyone, Welcome to the August Rally, lets hope that the sun shines for us today J
A few housekeeping messages:
• A big thank you to Sheryl for running the July Rally by herself in my absence, she did a great job, we couldn’t have held the rally without her.
• Another thank you to Paula who has been working very hard on Council Grant applications, hopefully all her hard work will pay off and we will have some much needed funds to improve our club.
• Can all riders be presented for gear check no later than 9:45am so lessons can start at 10:00am, we have wonderful instructors and they should not be left waiting for us!
• Helen has been sending out sponsorship letters, we have already had some positive responses, which is fantastic! If anyone knows of any business that they think might sponsor us please let Helen know and she will send them a sponsorship letter.
• We welcome a new instructor this month, Billy Hinz. Most of you will know Billy from Pony Club events and Wallington Park. We hope you have a great day Billy, please make him welcome
• Just a reminder - It is a requirement that all pony club members under the age of 18 must have an adult supporter with them at all times.
• A big thank-you to Robert Grant who has kindly offered to step in to Frank’s shoes
and man the BBQ for us. Robert has offered to cook for the July and August rallies.
• Please ask Tracy at the start of the rally day if you need any grading done. Forms for re grading are on the desk and need to be filled out before the rally starts. Please don’t come to us half way through the day requesting to be graded, as it just won’t happen.
• If you did not attend the last rally, we have the new 2012/13 attendance cards. Your details will be transferred onto the new cards when you sign in on rally day. Please have you current card for us to transfer the details onto your new card, thank you!
• Roster for the Geelong Show-jumping Event is on the table. I encourage all Families to put their name down to help out at this event. This event is one of the major fundraisers for the Club and without the money we receive from this, the club could not run. Thank you to those families who have already volunteered.
Dates for the Diary
Our Four fundraisers for the year are:
11th & 12th August 2012
Geelong Show-jumping Event Weekend at the Geelong Showgrounds We require all members to assist with entry fee, gate marshals and people to pick up poles. It is not hard work and you don’t need to have any special skills. If all families can put there names down on the roster on the table, that would be fab! We require help on Friday afternoon (10th) for set up of the jumps, Saturday and Sunday between 8:30am and 3:00pm.
15th September 2012
Working Bee at our grounds Again we require all families to help out with a working bee/set up before our Combined Training Event. If everyone does a little, it wont be such a huge job for a few.
16th September 2012
Combined Training Event We will need helpers on the day for Marshall, gates, pole picking up, canteen etc.
December 2012/January 2013
Portarlington Carnival Duty (2 nights per family)
Without these events the Pony Club would not keep running as our fees barely cover running costs let alone instructors and new equipment. Your continued support of these fundraising events is appreciated.
We would really like someone to help with the co-ordination of the working bees. If anyone is interested, can they please come and see
Tracy on rally day?
You might have a talent for gardening, cleaning, or be extremely handy with a power tool; your help would be greatly appreciated.
We have had a few requests for Club Woollen Jumpers. If you are interested in purchasing a jumper can you please speak to Cathy Bell - if we get enough interest, we will look at placing an order. I have only had 3 people interested at this stage. The polar fleece jackets and polo shirt are official uniform, and can be worn at any pony club competition, as can the woollen jumper. The woollen jumper must be worn with a white shirt and pony club tie, not a polo shirt.
We have noticed now that the club has grown, that we are a few chairs and tables short at lunch times. We do have extra chairs available and thought if someone could take this job under their wing, and place the chairs out before the start of the rally and be responsible for organizing them to be packed away in the shed after each rally. If you think this job is for you, can you please come and see one of the Committee on rally day. Thanks!
We would also like to clean up under/around the trees next to the clubrooms to make it look tidy and when the weather improves, to be comfortable for people to sit down and enjoy their lunch. If any of our families have some spare time and would like to help out with this, come and chat to us and we can work out a plan of attack!
