Dear Parishioners and Friends in Christ,

Lino Figueroa has been named the 2019 recipient of the St. Agnes Medal of Service from our parish. He will receive this honor at St. Agnes Cathedral this afternoon from Bishop Barres. Lino works tirelessly for the Spanish speaking community, here at St. Peter’s, doing many little things behind the scenes with much devotion and love. Congratulations Lino, we are all very proud of you!

Many churches, including St. Peter’s, are receiving fake text messages from “the pastor” requesting money or gift cards. It is a scam! I will never ask for donations by text. Please be careful.

This coming Friday is the Festival of All Saints and it is a Holy Day of Obligation. Please consult the schedule below. Saturday we will remember All Souls at 8:30 am and during a series of Masses throughout the following week. A list a parishioner funerals at St. Peter’s is listed on page 5 of this bulletin. † May they Rest in the Peace of the Risen Christ!

Have a great week and God bless you!

Our Family Mass pancake breakfast last week was a big hit, thanks to all who planned such an extraordinary event!

Going forward we are hoping to have a Family Mass Breakfast each month. They will be slightly more modest affairs but still great opportunities to build the bonds of community.

Our next breakfast will be Sunday November 17, following the 9:30 Family Mass. We’ll have coffee, bagels, and other treats. Bring something to share (muffins, coffee cake, fruit), and tell your friends. All are welcome. If you would like to help with this effort, please contact Joe DeMerit, [email protected].

All Saints' Day is a solemn holy day of the Catholic Church celebrated annually on November 1. The day is dedicated to the saints of the Church, that is, all those who have attained heaven. It should not be confused with All Souls' Day, which is observed on November 2, and is dedicated to those who have died and not yet reached heaven. All Saints' Day was formally started by Pope Boniface IV, who consecrated the Pantheon at Rome to the Virgin Mary and all the Martyrs on May 13 in 609 AD. Boniface IV also established All Souls' Day, which follows All Saints. Source: Catholic.org

For I am already being poured out like a libation, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have competed well; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith. From now on the crown of righteousness awaits me, which the Lord, the just judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me, but to all who have longed for his appearance.
