In the North Harbor (Seattle), trucks in compliance must equip a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag and be registered in the Port of Seattle Drayage Truck Registry. Trucks without RFID tags will be denied terminal access. Purchase of the RFID tag automatically registers you with the Truck Registry.
For a step-by-step guide for purchasing an RFID, see: www.portseattle.org/Cargo/SeaCargo/Pages/RFID.aspx
For program info, call the Clean Truck Hotline at (206) 787-6888 or visit: www.portseattle.org/r/cleantrucks
Heavy Haul NetworkThe Heavy Haul Network (HHN) in the North Harbor allows qualified loads in excess of legal weight limits to be transported on city streets between intermodal facilities and marine terminals.
Use of the HHN requires a special permit. Permits can be obtained from the City of Seattle Department of Transportation, Traffic Permits/Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division.
Call (206) 684-5086 or visit www.seattle.gov/transportation/heavyhaulpermits.htm for details including a Heavy Haul Network map and list of Seattle city streets designated as part of the HHN.NOTE: Trucks hauling overweight cargo in the South Harbor (Tacoma) require a
separate set of permits.
For heavy haul cargoes on Tacoma streets, contact the City of Tacoma Commercial Vehicle Division at (253) 591-5479 or online at: www.cityoftacoma.org/hhic.
For heavy haul cargoes on SR-509, contact the State of Washington Dept. of Transportation at (360) 704-6340 or online at: http://wsdot.wa.gov/CommercialVehicle/permits.htm.
SafetyVehicle Safety Inspections The NWSA, Port of Seattle Police, Seattle Police Dept. and the Washington Patrol have partnered to offer voluntary Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) inspections. Contact the Seattle Department of Transportation, Traffic Permits/Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Phone: (206) 684-5086 or email: [email protected] for more information.
