CHARACTER COUNTS

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Jacob Lippe

I am proud to announce that Jacob Lippe is our Port Pride athlete of the week! Jacob is a senior wide receiver, defensive safety and

NDSU commit. Jacob is a two time First Team All-Conference player as an offensive wide receiver and defensive back.

Jacob is the best offensive wide receiver that I have ever coached. Jacob plays the game with passion, toughness and a competitive grit. Jacob is a true student of the game that is constantly trying to make himself and his teammates better daily. Jacob has shown to have a

high impact in games, on offense, defense and special teams.

Jacob consistently pushes himself and his teammates in practice and in the weight room to continually improve. He does this by leading by example. He works hard and encourages those around

him to do the same. In addition to Jacob’s impressive accomplishment on the field, he has established himself as a true

leader, role model, and example of outstanding character.

During Jacob’s time in high school he has volunteered for many different groups, such as elementary reading programs and

school service projects. He is an excellent student, who is respectful, responsible, and loves his school. We are fortunate to have such a great person represent our community in such a positive way. He

truly embodies what it means to have Port Pride.

Congratulations Jake!

PIRATES: 1

CEDAR GROVE-BELGIUM: 0

The pirates entered the Cedar Grove Belgium Tournament on a two game winning streak, beating Slinger 1-0 earlier in the week on an Abdallah Khaled goal. The Pirates, despite dominating possession, were not able to find the back of the net until the 73 minute.

The Pirates opened up the Cedar Grove Tournament against Living Word Lutheran. Advancing to the next game on a 5-0 victory, the Pirates got goals from Abdallah Khaled, Ben Hughes (2). Wyatt Roller (assist credited to Carson Roller), and Evan Huber.

In the second game the Pirates faced a tough Tenor/Veritas team. The boys got behind early but were able to salvage a tie and send the game into penalty kicks. It took 7 shooters before Patrick Zamora stepped up and calmly slotted the game winner in the back of the net.

The Pirates came out on top against the hosts, 1-0 on a Skylar Shafer game winning goal.

The Pirates take on West Bend East on Tuesday.

Come out and support our seniors as we recognize them on Senior Night. Good Luck Pirates.

GIRLS SWIMMING & DIVE by Dani Peiffer

Meet Highlights: The girls did well for their third meet in 6 days. It’s been a long stretch but most girls had times close to their season bests and some PR’d at this meet. Top Varsity scorers were Freshman Kamryn Lapaceck (7 points), Sophomore Sydney Hannert (6 points), and Senior Eliana Wichmann (4 points). Top JV scorers were Senior Olyvia Marinez (6 points), Sophomore Julia Burke (6 points) and Senior Allana Setzer (4 points).

Individual Highlights: Most of the girls held close to their season bests and we had a few PR’s. PR’s for this meet included Freshman Caroline Hadacek in the 200 Free (2:28.84), Sophomore Sydney Hannert in the 200 IM (2:39.66), Junior Ellie Meyer in the 50 Free (43.27), Sophomore Erin Grisar in the 100 Fly (1:17.92), Sophomore Olivia Heinecke in the 500 Free (7:24.44), Senior Eliana Wichman in the 100 Back (1:14.63). We also had several girls swim a new event for the first time: Junior Ellie Meyer 100 Free, Avery Phillips 100 Free and 100 Back, Nolari Hingiss 100 Free. Nice job, girls!

Girls Varsity Tennis by Melonie Zielinski

Last week the varsity tennis team competed in the conference tournament. Chloe and Tess Schueller at #1 doubles and Zaara Rehman #4 singles were able to advance into day two of the conference tournament. Zaara used footwork, placement and determination to dig deep to win in a third set tie breaker. While Chloe and Tess Schueller played a competitive match against Slinger by using consistency and the wind to their advantage.

Yesterday the varsity team competed in subsectionals at North Shore Elite Tennis Club. Every girl competed with a tremendous amount of effort and skill. Kaylee Doll at #1 doubles played a competitive match against Pius XI Catholic by using short angles and lobs. Morgan Stone and Hope Christensen at #3 doubles had a great match against Cedarburg. They used low baseline shots and net shots to frustrate their opponents.

Congratulations on a great season ladies!
