• The Ofoten Railway represents 1% of the norwegian railway network but carry more than 60% of the cargo (tons), - mainly iron ore.
• 22 trains per direction/day. Containers: 100.000 TEU/yr
• 95% of groceries purchased by consum-ers living north of the Arctic Circle are transported by the Ofoten Railway.
• Nearly200.000tons/yroffishfromnorth-ern Norway are transported by the south-bound cargo trains, and rapidly increasing.
• Total upgrade of the Narvik Terminal yard and the rail connection (completed 2014)
• On-going: New and extended double tracks at the stations (sidings) allowing opposite trains to pass smoothly.
• Future: Double track feasibility study for the complete ore line (in assosiation with swedish authorities)
