Prices include all applicable taxes and the registration fee. A service fee is added to all registrations by our service provider.

Memberships pay for themselves! All prices include the $5.25 per person registration. This fee is waived for Arts Centre members. An annual membership is $20 for individuals and $35 for families plus applicable taxes.

Mistakes Happen! We make every effort to ensure accuracy but occasionally an error may occur. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. The Port Moody Arts Centre reserves the right to correct, at any time, any pricing errors and to refuse to complete a sale that is the subject of a pricing error.

REGISTRATION INFO

Refund PolicyOh, no – we had to cancel! Sometimes, we don’t get enough registrations for a class and have to cancel so it’s important to register early to avoid disappointment; we make the decision approximately one week in advance. If we cancel, we will do our best to find an alternative class or give you a 100% refund.

If you cancel: Sessional Classes:  Full refunds up to 4 calendar days before class starts. After that date, and including the first class, a 75% credit of the class fee only will be applied towards a future PMAC class. No refunds after the second class. There will be no refund given on registration fees, supply fees, or membership fees.

Camp Programs:  Full refunds or transfers will be granted up to 5 calendar days before the first class.  Within 4 days, no refunds will be issued. No refunds granted for classes missed by students.

Private Music Programs:  Please contact our front desk staff at 604.931.2008 for information.Workshops:  Full refunds up to 5 calendar days before the workshop starts. No refunds if cancelled within 4 days.

Pictures tell the story: We love to show our community the programs that we are offer and how much fun everyone is having. We use the photos we take to promote our programs and events. If you object to having your photo or your child’s photo taken, please let our photographers know. We are happy to comply.

Why not join two half-days for a full day of fun?! Lunch breaks are spent in the sunshine at Kyle Park so please bring a packed lunch, drinks, nut-free snacks, and a sweater. Note for safety reasons we do not have a microwave or hot water for food. Wear clothes you don’t mind getting paint and glue on!

After-camp care available from 3:00-5:30pm for $10.00 per day, payable prior to the start of each class. Drop off from 8:30am.

A One Year Residency Opportunity for an Emerging or Established Ceramic Artist Starting in July 2015

The Port Moody Arts Centre Society supports artistic excellence and innovation. This residency is open to all emerging and established ceramic artists over 19 years of age. The residency will require an emphasis on making, learning and sharing the process of creating with clay.

The residency is an excellent opportunity for artistic development within an innovative and supportive ceramic community. The clay studios at the Arts Centre are busy, supportive and house a true sense of community. There are classes for adults in handbuilding and wheel throwing, children’s classes that range from after school clay to spring & summer camps, plus a very active Open Studio group of ceramic devotees.

Piano with George PatersonGeorge Paterson, Dip. Mus. M.R.U. Jazz Performance has a lifetime of professional experience in classical and jazz music. He studied successfully with Thomas Mansard at the ARCT level. George teaches all levels of music from beginner to Grade 10.

Piano and Theory with Sylvia MaltbySylvia Maltby, BMus., MA (Musicology), RMT, teaches individual lessons in piano, theory, harmony, music history, counterpoint and form and analysis. She was well established as a private instructor, accompanist, theatre musician and soloist in the Edmonton area before relocating to Port Moody several years ago. She instructs piano lessons to all ages; from beginner to accomplished performer, in jazz and classical styles. Sylvia also teaches advanced theoretical subjects for Royal Conservatory and Conservatory Canada examinations.

Piano and Theory with Lia DvirLia has a BMus. and BA in piano, organ, basic rudimentary, and has her choir conductors diploma. She is a piano teacher and vocal coach, and speaks English, Russian, Georgian and Hebrew. With more than 15 years of teaching experience in Canada, Lia offers a supportive learning environment through giving constant encouragement to her students. She is dedicated to fostering the development of her students’ musical potential. A development of self-discipline is one of her key objectives and she assures an invaluable experience by setting meaningful goals. Voice/Piano with Gina WilliamsGina has a Masters in Music from the University of Alberta and has many years of experience performing, composing and instructing. Her infectious love of music and holistic approach will provide students with individualized instruction in a variety of musical styles.

Flute, Clarinet, Recorder, Saxophone with Emry Laird  With more than 20 years of teaching experience and years of performance, Emry instructs beginner to advanced and RCM preparation. MUSIC LESSONS

Guitar with Michael ChamMichael brings a wealth of experience to his instruction. He has more than 20 years teaching and performing, and has training in both classical and jazz guitar. Novice to advanced are taught harmony, melody and rhythm in a friendly and inviting environment. Bring your guitar.

Violin with Pavel ChiriacPavel has enjoyed more than 30 years as a distinguished international musician and teacher. He holds a Masters of Music and has won the gold medal at the international “Foyer Des Artistes”. Learn to play violin or advance your current skills. All levels are welcome! Classical and Suzuki methods are available as well as a large variety of styles from folk, fiddle to pop. Participants bring their own violin to class.

Voice with Danielle CyrDanielle is a soprano with an MMus from the University of Alberta in Voice Performance and has a BA in Music from Trinity Western University. She is a passionate performer and teacher whose love of singing and music inspires as well as empowers students throughout their vocal and artistic development.

Voice with Leanne KochLeanne holds a BMus and MMus from UBC in voice and opera performance. Having taught for more than 10 years, she is a member of the BCRMTA and the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). She has further training in teaching and singing Contemporary Commercial Music (CCM) from Shenandoah University where she completed Somatic Voicework – the Lo Vetri Method™ Levels I-III, and courses for Voice and Movement, Gospel Singing, and Working with Injured Voices.

Piano and Theory with Sathia AruliahSathia studied piano, organ and harpsichord at the Trinity College of Music, London. She holds their highest diploma, a Fellowship in Harpsichord Performance and studied at UBC to complete her Bachelor’s Degree in Music.

Advanced Guitar Fingerstyles (15+) with Michael Cham GFADV Sat June 13 1:00-4:00pm 1 class $81.25This is a sequel to the workshop held on February 7. Build on your skills in this workshop: right hand finger techniques, Arpeggios, fingerstyle application in various time signatures. This will be detailed with a variety of embellishments and nuances supplemented with various styles including: classical, ragtime, folk, blues, jazz and bluegrass. Bring your guitar, notebook, pencil and eraser. Please register by June 8.

Guitar Fretboard Basics (15+) with Michael Cham GFRETSat May 9 1:00-4:00pm 1 class $81.25Scales, modes and technical exercises geared toward improvisation skills. Michael’s fun workshop is suited for intermediate students possessing a working knowledge of harmony, open and closed position chords and Tablature. Improvise over chord changes. Please register by May 3.

The Nature of SilkSamantha Williams-Chapelsky

As an Alberta artist, the landscape around her is often Samantha Williams-Chapelsky’s foundation of inspiration. For this exhibition she has designed more than 40 pieces of hand painted silk artworks, including tapestries and painted clothing. Each of the pieces has been created on Habutia Silk, which is traditionally woven in Japan.

Jenna Robinson is a realist painter from Squamish, BC who is seduced by the power of light to alter and define our perception of the world. She is captivated by its ability to manipulate the colours and definition of a landscape and transform it into something completely unfamiliar.
