PORSCHE 911 STONE OF THE VIEW ORIGINAL 1970 FACTORY BUILT ST CARS

1970 PORSCHE 911 ST

1970 Porsche 911 ST

Chassis Number 911 030 1138

This 911 ST is a piece of Porsche motor sport history. The car has been used in

German period racing in the early 1970ies intensively.

The car was delivered new as one of the very few Works-Porsche 911STs in

1970 to its first owner Hans Braun a German gentleman racer by MAHAG in

Munich / Germany. The engine number at delivery was # 630 1552.

In 1970 only 15 works cars were built by Porsche factory with carburettor 2.3L

engines (engine type was 911/22). Plus a number of cars were fitted

afterwards with a factory supplied M491 ST package. The total number of

M491 models cars is unknown.

1970 PORSCHE 911 ST – THE RACES

Hans Braun was a German private race driver, who participated in this Porsche 911 ST at many events in 1970 – 1972.

He sold the car in April 1972 to Ludwig Hornauer who raced it until the end of 1974 at German hill climbs and other racing

events.

In the late 1970ties # 1138 went through a number of

ownerships and was modified as many period racing

cars to a street car.

The pictures show the ST in the late 1980ies, when it

was acquired by Franz Georg Döpper.

Döpper sold the car to the USA where it was restored

the first time and used for club racing events.

See picture below from its last American owner Jim Oppenheimer

In 2004 the current owner bought the car from the last American owner

Jim Oppenheimer and restored it to the highest possible standard.

The body was made by David Bonavita, the ex-head of prototyping at

Pininfarina. All mechanical parts and the engine was restored by the

Porsche specialist Irmgartz Motorsport.

The body has all relevant M491 specs as fenders, front hood and

windows made of plastic. The engine has all relevant racing parts just

as in 1970.

This amazing Porsche 911 ST is now for sale. It has a wonderful patina

and comes with a large history file, invoices and DMSB/FIA pass. A truly

unique opportunity to purchase a highly eligible piece of Porsche

racing history.
