Discover the difference between 2D and 3D. 2D stands for two dimensional and is a flat item. 3D stands for three dimensional and adds depth to an item. Forexample,asquareis2D,whereasacube is 3D. Have a go at creating your own 3D card.

What to doGetintoSixesandchataboutcardsyou’ve received. How did getting the

card make you feel?

AsaSix,you’regoingtomake pop-upcards.Chooseatypeofcard

or use your own ideas:A.GetwellB. Brownie moving on to GuidesC. BirthdayD. Leaving

ChataboutyourcardtypeasaSix.Think of a message to go inside your

cards.Onceyou’vedecided,writethemessage out so everyone can see it.

Look at the message and pick the word you think is the most important.

(Youdon’tallhavetochoosethesameword.)Forexample,for‘Getwellsoon’,youmight choose ‘well’ or ‘soon’. How many letters does your word have? Times this by two and keep this number in your head.

Top tipIt’sdifficulttofitawordlongerthansixletters on the card.

Eachtakeasheetofcardandfoldit in half to make a greeting card

shape.Now,rememberyournumberfrombefore and cut this number of slits into thefoldededgeofyourcardatequalspaces,likeinpictureA.Yourcutsshouldgo about halfway across the card.

Open your card and push every otherstripthroughtotheinside,

starting with the first strip – look at pictureB.Youshouldhaveonestripforeach letter of your chosen word.

Foldyourcardshut,carefullycreasingthe strips inside. This will make

everythingstanduplikeinpicturesCandD.

Get a new sheet of card and draw out the letters from your chosen

wordseparately,thencutthemout.Stickeach letter on to your pop-up strips.

Open your card up and write the rest of your message around your

pop-up word.

Take another sheet of card and stick it to the back of your card to cover

the gaps. Now you can decorate the front of your card too!

Take it furtherTry making your slits different lengths so some bits pop up more than others. Think about using your new skills to create more uniquecardsforyourfamilyandfriends.
