For example: Copying is cheating (Robbie McGovan, 2013, Miskin Theatre) The Brief During the process for the Evolver genres show you will research, learn, rehearse and perform a range of musical genres to a paying public audience some of which you will later perform in a recording studio. We will be looking specifically the genres of Rock and Roll, Soul, Disco and Hip Hop but also to other related pop music styles. As Musicians you are expected to have an understanding of a variety of popular music styles in order to be versatile when it comes to working in the industry. This could include the musical, social and political contexts of different genres of music. During the rehearsal period you will work in groups to research different genres of pop music commenting critically on their style and development. You will present your findings to the rest of your peers as a presentation and group discussion and post your findings as a blog, podcast or video diary. You will work in groups to learn and rehearse a variety of material to a high standard, keeping a Tumblr blog on the different techniques and rehearsal structure you use. You will then perform material from four different genres in a series of public performances



Professional Practice: Please be aware that you will be putting professional practice into action within The Miskin Theatre, which is a publicly licensed professional environment in which you are effectively an intern being given the opportunity to publicly test your skills and gain creditable industrial experience.
