Rules and Regulations 1. All classes will be run under SAEF and ESA Eventing Rules as of 1 January 2021, FEI Eventing Rules 25th edition effective 1

January 2021, and in compliance of the SAEF Equestrian Sport Ready Resumption document. Any rider, or their entourage, who breaches these conditions will be disqualified and asked to leave the venue, without recourse.

2. All tack will be checked before the commencement of each test. As per Eventing Rules 05.4.2 and 05.7.2, protective headgear, medical cards and body protectors are obligatory for the Cross-Country Surcingles are strongly recommended.

3. Competitors shall always wear the correct dress whilst warming up and in the arena. 4. Protests lodged must adhere to Appendix GR/D of the SAEF General Regulations and Section 03 of the Eventing Rules. 5. Registration of Rider with SAEF and ESA, and Club membership must be up to date as of 1 January 2021 for all Classes.

The Organizing Committee reserves the right to restrict class entries strictly on a first entered and paid basis. 6. Entries should be done online on the ESA Website: www.eventingsa.co.za. Please use the Rider’s name & your invoice

number as reference. 7. Any requests for a specific riding order MUST be emailed to the SHB. It is the responsibility of the competitor to make

sure their entries have been received. The dressage tests used are from the DSA 2020 Eventing Dressage Tests available on the ESA website www.eventingsa.co.zaand FEI Tests updated 2021 which can be found on the FEI website www.fei.org, or ESA Website.

8. The Show Holding Body reserves the right to alter or vary the program considering prevailing Conditions, at their discretion, with the approval of the Technical Delegate.

9. The Organizing Committee, the Show Holding Body, ESA, SAEF, FEI and Pondarosa Ranch cannot be held liable for any loss, damage, death or injury to people, horses, or property whatsoever. All competitors and spectators enter the premises entirely at their own risk.

10. The Cross-Country courses will be open for inspection for all classes from 14h00 Friday 29 October 2021. The Cross-Country courses will be open for inspection on horseback for classes 1-6 from 14h00 -17h00 Friday 29 October only. All competitors may only walk around the courses, no jumping of any obstacles and must be in groups of 3 or more. This is regarded as the official starting time of the event so all Eventing rules including restrictions about dress and saddlery will be enforced. At the event venue and after the official opening of the courses for inspection, and for the duration of the event, it is forbidden under penalty of disqualification for anyone, other than the competitor who will ride the horse in the competition, to school a horse. Only the rider allowed on the field of play.

11. As from the 25 October 2021 in the Schedule, no competitor/competing horse may ride in the vicinity of the cross-country obstacles, until called upon to do so under penalty of elimination.

12. Any horse that has not been officially entered for the event will not be allowed access to the grounds without prior permission from the Chairman of the Organizing Committee.

13. Numbers are to be collected on the Friday or before the Dressage Test and are to be worn for all 3 Tests. Bridle numbers are permitted for the Dressage and Show Jumping phases.

14. Competitors please note that Medical Cards/other forms of medical tags are compulsory for the Cross – Country phase and medical details MUST also be updated on the Eventing SA Website. Please inform the organizing committee &/or the medics when you arrive, if you have had any major accident recently involving concussion. It is the responsibility of the rider, or parent/guardian to give this information to the medics.

15. Sponsors, owners, riders, horses, and ponies must be registered with SAEF, ESA and the Primary Club of choice in the Riders/Owners Geo-Political area, for the 2021 subscription year as at the closing date of entry. Entries out of order at closing date will be forfeited.

CODE OF CONDUCT FOR THE WELFARE OF THE HORSE

The Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) expects all those involved in International. Equestrian sport to adhere to the FEI’s Code of Conduct and to always acknowledge and accept that the welfare of the horse must be paramount and must never be subordinated to competitive or commercial influences.

1. At all stages during the preparation and training of competition horse’s welfare must take precedence over all other demands. This includes good horse management, training methods, farriery and tack, and transportation.

2. Horses and Athletes must be fit, competent and in good health, before they are allowed to compete. This encompasses medication use, surgical procedures that threaten welfare or safety, pregnancy in mares and the misuse of aids.

3. Events must not prejudice horse welfare. This involves paying careful attention to the competition areas, ground surfaces, weather conditions, stabling, site safety and fitness of the horse for onward travel after the Event.

4. Every effort must be made to ensure that horses receive proper attention after they have competed and that they are treated humanely when their competition careers are over. This covers proper Veterinary care, competition injuries, euthanasia, and retirement.

5. The FEI urges all involved with the sport to attain the highest levels of education in their areas of expertise. 6. Athletes, Members, and all Affiliates to Eventing SA must ensure that they have read and understand the Social Media Policy

which can be found on the ESA website www.eventingsa.co.za under Documents/Eventing Rules.

16. Parking in designated areas only. Spectators to park on opposite side of the road and must walk into venue with SAEF

Covid-19 Questionnaire and proof of Covid vaccinations. NO DOGS ALLOWED WITHOUT A LEAD!

17. A complete list of SAEF General Regulations, SAEF Equestrian Sport Ready Document, Veterinary Regulations, Eventing Rules and Eventing Dressage Tests can be found on the www.eventingsa.co.za. No dressage test will be supplied so competitors must ensure that they have the correct copies.

18. All stallions must have a yellow disc on both sides of the bridle or have a yellow ribbon in the tail. 19. EQUINE FLU VACS MUST BE ADMINISTERED WITHIN 6 MONTHS + 21 days OF THE DATE OF THE EVENT. No horse may

compete in the 7 days after the vaccination. AHS VACCINATIONS MUST BE IN ORDER.

20. Comply fully with Covid-19 regulations as laid down by SAEF/National Government as gazette

COVID - 19 RULES AND REGULATIONS

The SAEF Equestrian Sport Ready Safe Sport Resumption Document pertains to all entrants, namely. ➢ Social distancing will be required throughout the Event/Show - 2 m for individuals, as well as for riders on horseback.

➢ All riders will always be required to wear a mask, except when mounted. All other Individuals are to WEAR A FACE MASK

whilst on the premises and to ensure they bring their own masks. (Riders to ensure their grooms are compliant)

➢ All entries will be done online, and no changes or additions will be made on the day.

➢ All riders to download and print the self-assessment Covid-19 questionnaire and submit with entry.

➢ Judges, officials, grooms to download this questionnaire and hand it in upon arrival at the event to the Covid Check Point.

➢ Individual time slots will be allocated on close of entries with specific durations determined by the various disciplines per

horse and rider combination. Times will be available 48 hours before the event and available on the various discipline

websites or FB pages.

➢ Sanitization stations and rules to be applied.

➢ Designated parking areas and Horse box parking slots will be marked out in accordance with social distancing regulations

(min. of 5m between each Horse Box).

➢ Riders are required to ensure their transport and equipment is sanitized before and after each event.

➢ The Event will be open to spectators who have proof of Covid-19 Vaccination and filled in SAEF Covid19 Questionnaire.

➢ Rider to be accompanied two attendees. Where necessary an additional groom may be permitted to attend to

the horses. Welfare of the horse is paramount.

➢ Should stabling be used - Stable blocks to be allocated with social distancing guidelines in place.

➢ Stables for visiting horses, if necessary, need to be situated far from the competition arena where horses and

grooms will be isolated from the other competitors.

➢ Athletes are to provide their grooms with disposable gloves to be used when filling water buckets and using

the wash bays.

➢ Arenas to have separate IN and OUT Gates where able.
