Find a Doctor in the Network

Preventive Care vs. Diagnostic Care

Preventive• You don’t have signs

of a problem, or your doctor just wants to make sure you’re okay with an annual exam or screening.

• In many cases preventive care is covered 100%, but check the details of your plan to be sure.

Go online• Use the SCPH

Provider Directory Search on the SCPH website

Ask your doctor• Call your doctor

to see if they are In-Network before making an appointment

Call SCPH• Contact SCPH

Member Services at 1.877.830.7470 for help if you have questions

Diagnostic• You have symptoms or

an ongoing problem and your doctor wants to do testing to find the cause.

• Coverage depends on your plan, so you may pay a larger portion of the costs.

1. Make sure your doctor is in the network.

2. Know if your visit to the doctor is preventive care or diagnostic care.

3. Have a list of health care questions or any new health issues to review with your doctor.

4. Write down any medicines, vitamins and supplements you are currently taking.

5. Be sure to have your current member ID card.

Make Your Doctor’s Visits Easier on Everyone

There’s a difference between preventative and diagnostic care, so check how each fits in with your plan.

Using a doctor in the network can help you save money.
