Cruelty to Animals. HENRY BEARD, exp., late Imp. Eeg. No. 4494,

late Col. Reg. No. 7604; charged at York Pohce Court, on 28th ult., by L. Sergeant Waldock, with cruelly treating a horse, by working it while in an unfit state at York, on 24th ult. Fined 10s. and costs.

Inquest. On the 29th ult., at the Police Court, Fremantle,

before J. G. Slade, R.M. and Coroner, on the body of Andrew Postans, age 11 years, who was found dead in the bush at Coojee, on the 28th ult. Verdict—" Death by accident from suffocation caused by the horse falling with his weight on the body."

Property Found. On the 24th ult., on the road between Busselton

and Port Augusta,—pearl brooch, oval shape, flower cut on face. Now at Busselton Police Station.

On the 1st inst., near Grove Farm, Guildford road,—lady's waterproof cloak, dark grey color, pair gloves in right hand pocket, now at Guildford Police Station.

Stealing in Dwellings, from the Person, &c.

On the 6th inst., from the residence of Geo. Siggs, Freshwater Bay,—7 lbs. flour, 2 lbs. sugar, ^-Ib. tea, 1 dozen buns, 1 candle, the property of Geo. Siggs. This robbery was eifected by drawing the staple and opening the door.—C.I. 229.

On the 1st inst., from the dwelling of Mrs. Ashton, Perth,—Morocco purse containing 6s. 6d. in silver; Lady's gold neck chain with small locket attached, with human hair in each side. Lucy Cross, suspected.—C.L 230.

On the night of the 6th inst., from Wm. Bucking­ham's premises, Perth,—small iron gate, size Sft. 6in by 2ft. lOin., made of round iron and painted green.—C.L 231.

On the 30th ult., from the premises of George Monger, York,—black kangaroo dog, with three brindle feet, large scar on right jaw; two and a-half years old ; answers to the name of " Tinker."—C.L 232.

On the Sth inst., from the person of Anthony Mahoney, Perth,—black felt hat, the property of the Local Government. Property recovered. Vide Apprehensions.—C.L 233.

Between the 3rd and 9th inst., from the dwelling of Thomas Barker, Perth,—pair of light tweed trowsers with narrow black stripes.—C.L 234.

On the 31st ult., from the Freemason's Hotel, Perth,—Malacca walking cane with silver head, with Horace Shell's name engraved ou the head, the property of Horace Sholl.—C.L 236.

Vide C.I. 232 of 1878. The dog therein described was seen on the 2ud

inst. at the 24-miIe camp, York Eoad, following a man about Sft. 6in. high, stout, large sandy whiskers, wearing dark tweed coat, dirty white moleskin trowsers, black billy-cock hat, carrying a horse rug, and going iu the direction of Guildford.

possession of George Pole, Beverley, who states that he bought it from WilHam Palmer, t.l., Eeg. No. 7S15.

On the Sth inst., from George McLeod's team, 7 miles on the Canning Eoad,—one corn sack, 10 lbs. salt Pork, 10 loaves of bread. A native who is em­ployed by Wniiam Gibbs on the Canning, suspected. —C.L 237.

On the 4th inst., from the dwelling of James Chapman, Cooroning,—Crimean shirt, red and brown pattern, and S sticks of tobacco. Jihar, ab. nat., suspected.—C.L 238.

On the 6th inst., from the premises of E. M. King & Co., Fremautle,—cane bottle basket, 6 com­partments, marked L.C.H. with black and white paint, the property of Lewis Hazluck.—C.L 239.

On the Sth inst.,*from the Emerald Isle Hotel, Fremantle,—small black terrier dog, 4 brown legs, cropped ears, and tail cut. Answers to the name of " Tim," the property of J. W. Lewis.—C.L 240.

Inquest. On the Sth inst., at the Pensioner's Barracks,

Perth, before E. W. Landor, P.M. and Coroner, ou the body of Honora Sutherland, who died suddenly at the Barracks, on the 4th inst. Verdict—" That the deceased, Honora Sutherland, came to her death by natural causes (to wit) serous apoplexy."

Vide C.I. 232 of 1878. The kangaroo dog therein described found, not

stolen, a t the Talbot, and returned to Geo. Monger.

On the 3rd inst., from the dwelling house of Geo. Thomas , Fremantle ,—pair gold shell earrings, white stone in centre, 3 chains and ball hanging from each. This robbery is very doubtful.'—C.l. 244.

On the 6th inst., from the residence of Marshall Waller Clifton, Wokalup,—Kangaroo dog, large size, red color, white round throat; answers to name of " B e n " ; one Retriever Slut, liver color, two white

spots over the eyes, light colored feet; answers to the name of " Juuo." These dogs are supposed to be in the possession of splitters, near Drake's Brook, between the Harvey and Pinjarra.—C.I. 253.

high, fair hair, scar on forefinger of left hand, bald on top of head, large fair moustache, otherwise clean shaved, wore dark ribbed tweed coat, grey trowsers and vest, and either a light or black felt hat ; trade, carpenter; charged on warrant issued at Adelaide, S.A., with forging and uttering a cheque on the Bank of Adelaide for ^17 , on the 18th April, 1878, to Townsend, Betting, & Co., Adelaide, pur­porting to be drawn by D. Murray, and endorsed Henry Isicks and J. Jacobs." This offender is sup­posed to have come to Western Australia, and is probable he may go direct to Port Walcott, Lacepede Islands, or Browse Island. If this offender should arrive at any of the sea ports in this colony, informa­tion to be forwarded immediately to the Detective Office, Perth.

Inquest. On the 24th inst., at the Convict Establishment,

Fremantle, before Major Finnerty, J.P., on the body of William Thompson, Imperial Convict Reg. No. 9892, who died on 24th inst. Verdict—" Died from disease of the heart."

May 29, 1878. Information is requested respecting the where­

abouts of James Tucker, who was sentenced to penal servitude for life, in 1854, and was sent to Swan River, and was last heard of at Victoria Plains in that colony, where he was employed as schoolmaster. A Port Adelaide newspaper was received by his friends in England a few months ago, and he is supposed to be in this colony P.C.O. 585-78. (James Tucker, late Reg. No. 3846, arrived in West Australia in the convict ship "Wilham Hammond," on the 29th March, 1856, he was then described as shght, 38 years of age, Sft 4iin high, grey hair, hazel eyes, long visage, sallow complexion, 4 small cuts on fore­head ; trade, clerk.)
