1. 29.2.2016 Advisor to Administrator inaugurated the Gazetted Officer‟s Mess of
Chandigarh Police
On 29.2.2016, Sh. Vijay Kumar Dev, IAS, Adviser to
Administrator, UT, Chandigarh inaugurated the Gazetted Officer‟s
Mess of Chandigarh Police at Police Lines, Sector 26, Chandigarh.
Sh. Rajender P. Upadhyay, IPS, Inspector General of Police, UT,
Chandigarh, Sh. A.S. Cheema, IPS, D.I.G., U.T., Chandigarh, Dr.
Sukhchain Singh Gill, IPS, SSP, U.T., Chandigarh along with other
Senior Officers from Police Department were also present on this
occasion. Inspector General of Police briefed the facilities provided
in GO‟s Mess in his welcome address.
Sh. Vijay Kumar Dev, IAS also inspected the newly built
Gazetted Officer‟s Mess which is covering total area of 11487.4 sq.ft
consisting ground floor of 7057 sq.ft and first floor 4429.26 sq.ft. The
Gazetted Officer‟s Mess is upgraded to latest facilities (i) Reception
Area (ii) 5 Suites + 2 Standard Rooms (iii) Family Sittings (iv) Dining
Hall (v) Toilets & (vi) Kitchen etc.
2. 25.05.2016 Passing Out Parade of the 17th batch of 96 recruit constables (54
Males, 42 Females) was held at the Parade grounds, Police lines,
Sector-26, Chandigarh on 25.05.2016. His Excellency, Governor
Punjab & Haryana and Administrator U.T. Chandigarh, Professor
Kaptan Singh Solanki took the salute. Shri Amarjit Singh Cheema, IPS,
DIG-UT Chandigarh, administered oath to these young recruits. Shri
Tejender Singh Luthra , IPS, IGP-UT Chandigarh welcomed the Chief
Guest and presented a report about the training of recruits. He
stated that these constables were provided adequate exposure in
the fields of Criminal law, Medical Jurisprudence, VIP Security,
Human Rights, etc. They have also been imparted training in Mob
Control, Weapon handling, Yoga, P.T. and Parade. Special
workshops on topics like Cyber Crime, Bank Frauds and Gender
sensitization, etc. were also held. After passing out, these recruits will
undergo a commando training course at Bahadurgarh (Punjab).
His Excellency, the Governor Punjab & Haryana and
Administrator Chandigarh, in his official address appreciated the
hard work put in by these recruits during their training. He
congratulated the IGP-UT for the work of Chandigarh Police in
providing security to the City Beautiful inspite of the growing
challenges and scarce resources.
Out of these 96 constables, C. Mohit No. 2095/CP stood All-
Round 1st, 1st in Indoor Examinations and also 2nd in Outdoor Tests.
C. Ashwani No. 2105/CP and C. Yogesh No. 2000/CP, both stood All
Round 2nd . C. Gurdeep Kaur No. 2063/CP stood 2nd in Indoor
Examinations, C. Balwant No. 2084/CP 1st in Outdoor Tests, C.
Surinder Singh No. 2310/CP 1st in Firing Tests and C. Rimple No.
2086/CP 2nd in Firing Tests. Head Constable Gursahib Singh No.
194/CP awarded with Best Drill Instructor Award, SI Prem Nath No.
509/CHG CDI-RTC, SI Omvir Singh No. 851/CHG and SI Avtar Singh
No. 816/CHG awarded with Award of Honour. All Prize winners
awarded with Trophies.
3. 06.06.2016 Feliciation Ceremony for wards of Police Families
On 06th June, 2016 the felicitation ceremony was held in the Multi
Purpose Hall of Police Lines, Sector 26, Chandigarh. Sh. Parimal Rai,
IAS, Advisor to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh was the chief
guest of the function. Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra, IPS, Inspector
General of Police, UT, Chandigarh welcomed the Chief Guest. Dr.
Sukhchain Singh Gill, IPS, SSP/UT along with other officer of Police
department was also present on this function. During Felicitation
Ceremony, Police scholarship was distributed among the 64 police
wards who has secured 85% or above marks in the examination in
their respective class i.e. 6th to 12th during academic session 2015-
2016. The prize amount approximate 6.5 lac was distributed among
the wards of Chandigarh Police families present at the function.
Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, Advisor to the Administrator, UT Chandigarh, in
his official address appreciated the scholarship recipients and
encourage them to work hard in future and to achieve their goal.
He congratulated to Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra, IPS, Inspector
General of Police, UT, Chandigarh for the work of Chandigarh

4. 15.07.2016 Training program on Stress Management & Medicine Free Life
One day Training program on Stress Management & Medicine Free
Life has been organized by Chandigarh Police in association with
National Education (NGO), Nagpur (Maharashtra) in Recruit Training
Centre, Sector-26, Chandigarh under the guidance of Shri Tajender
Singh Luthra , I.P.S., I.G.P., U.T., Chandigarh and supervision of Dr.
Sukhchain Singh Gill, I.P.S., S.S.P, U.T., Chandigarh. 125 police
personnel (Inspectors, SIs, ASIs, HCs, and Constables) from all units of
Chandigarh Police have attended this program.
Dr. Nilesh Charpe (Naturopathist) and his team from National
Education (NGO), Nagpur (Maharashtra) has delivered lecture to
the participants. He told the methods to keep our life 70% medicine
free. He said that we can live stress free and medicine free life by
keeping ourselves in contact with nature and by adopting the basic
principles of Naturotherapy i.e. Morning Walk, Yogaashan,
Paranayam, Acupressure, Herbal remedies and by using the routine
available Kitchen materials.
The motive to conduct this training program is to aware the police
personnel regarding naturotherapy and to stay healthy and stress
free long life.

6. 22.07.2016 Felicitation ceremony of Meritorious wards of Chandigarh Police
Family.
On 22nd July, 2016 the felicitation ceremony of Meritorious wards of
Chandigarh Police Family, was held in the Multi Purpose Hall of
Police Lines, Sector 26, Chandigarh. Mrs. Simerpreet Luthra,
President Chandigarh Police Welfare Society, was the chief guest of
the function. Dr. Mrs. Manjinder Kaur Gill, (Member Chandigarh
Police Welfare Society) welcomed the Chief Guest. Wives of other
senior police officers along with all Lady Inspector were present on
this function. During Felicitation Ceremony, Police scholarship was
distributed among the 60 police wards who has secured 85% or
above marks in the examination in their respective class i.e. 6th to
12th during academic session 2015-2016. The prize amount
approximate 5.75 lac was distributed among the wards of
Chandigarh Police families present at the function.
7. 01.11.2016 50th Raising Day of Chandigarh Police
Chandigarh Police has been playing a key role in keeping the city
beautiful-Chandigarh, a role model city as was dreamt by its
planner Le-Corbusier.
Chandigarh Police was raised after the declaration of Chandigarh
as Union territory on 1st November, 1966. The first Chief of
Chandigarh Police was Sh. V.K. Kalia, SSP. The post of IGP was
created in the year 1981 and 17 Inspector General‟s of Police have
been appointed till date. Presently, Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra, IPS is
the Inspector General of Police. SSP Chandigarh (for maintaining
Law & Order), SP/Operation & training (for training and special
operation), SP/Traffic and Security (for maintaining Traffic & Security
arrangements in the city) and SP/IRB are working under Deputy
Inspector General of Police. Today the number of police personnel
in Chandigarh police has reached to 6000 to maintain security, law
& orders and traffic arrangements in the city.

Chandigarh police also got two drones to keep watch in crowded
places and Thermal Imager to keep watch on criminal‟s hidden
place like in jungle areas.
To mark this occasion, today, a parade was organized in Police
Lines, Sector 26, Chandigarh. His Excellency Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore,
Governor of Punjab & Administrator, UT, Chandigarh was the chief
guest on the occasion. Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra, IPS, Inspector
General of Police, Sh. A.S. Cheema, IPS, DIGP, Sh. Sukhchain Singh
Gill, IPS, SSP/UT, Sh. Eish Singhal, IPS, SP Headquarters and Security &
Traffic, Sh. Ravi Kumar, IPS, SP Operations, Sh. Guriqbal Singh Sidhu,
IPS, Commandant IRB, Sh. Navdeep Singh Brar, IPS, SP/Ciy and Sh.
Roshan Lal, SP/Communication and law & order along with other
police officers their families and retired police officers of
Chandigarh Police were present in the function.
This year also, Chandigarh Police is celebrating “Chandigarh Police
Week-2016” from 1st November, 2016 to 7th November, 2016, which
has become an annual feature. The basic objective of Police Week
is to build a close bonding with the members of the public and to
form stronger partnerships between Police and the communities
they serve. The Police week is being organized to promote respect
for law, build public interest in and support the Police, thus reducing
the gap between the Police and public. During the Chandigarh
Police Week, celebrations will definitely bring community, people,
citizen forums, students closer to Police to build up the desired trust
and rapport as required. Chandigarh Police has been continuously
striving to keep the city safe & secure. Various units of Chandigarh
Police like District Police, Operation Cell, Security Wing, Traffic Police
keep working round the clock to provide best policing services to
the citizens.
8. 03.11.2016 Workshop on Cyber Crime and ATM frauds
A special session of 2 hours on „Cyber Crimes and ATM Frauds‟ was
organized in Recruit Training Centre, Sector-26, Chandigarh under
the guidance of Shri Tajinder Singh Luthra, I.P.S. I.G.P., U.T.,
Chandigarh and supervision of Shri R.K Singh, I.P.S., S.P. Operations &
Training, in which 130 police officers/officials (Inspectors, Sub
Inspectors, Assistant Sub Inspectors , Head Constables and
Constables) of Chandigarh Police have participated.
Shri Gurcharan Singh, Faculty of Cyber Crime,
Central Detective School, Sector-36 Chandigarh delivered lecture
to the participants and made aware about the Cyber Crimes and
ATM Frauds. He discussed various cases detected and unfolded
with the help of modern technology in detail. He also emphasized
upon amended Information Technology Act, 2008 and the various
types of ATM Frauds and its investigation procedure.
The main objective of the special lectures is to
sensitize the police personnel regarding how to deal with the Cyber
Crimes & ATM Frauds cases to minimize the such types of crime.
9. 17.11.2016 Cultural programme and Bada Khana
On the eve of 50th raising day of Chandigarh Police, various
awareness programme & events were organized for general public
by Chandigarh Police from 1st Nov to 7th Nov 2016.
In the chevron of celebrations, today, a cultural evening followed
by the „Bada Khana‟ was organized in Police Lines, Sector 26,
Chandigarh. Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, Advisor to the Administrator, UT,
Chandigarh was the chief guest. Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra, IPS,
Inspector General of Police, Sh. Sukhchain Singh Gill, IPS, SSP/UT, Sh.
Eish Singhal, IPS, SP Headquarters and Security & Traffic, Sh. Ravi
Kumar, IPS, SP Operations, Sh. Navdeep Singh Brar, IPS, SP/City and
Sh. Roshan Lal, SP/Communication and law & order along with
other police officers their families and retired police officers of
Chandigarh Police were present in the function.
On this occasion, an award facilitation function among the police
officials and police wards was also organized by Chandigarh Police
for achievers in sports / extracurricular activities at National &
International level during the year 2015-16. Total 25 police officers
and police wards are awarded in the field of sports/cultural and
other activities. 5 Police Personnel are awarded in the sports events
like Body Building, Volleyball, Boxing, Tae-Kwon-do and Wu-Shu. 19
wards of police personnel have been awarded for outstanding
achievements in IIT & IIM and category of sports, NCC etc. One
police officer is also awarded for having record in Limica Book of
Records. A total of 3,32,000/- cash rewards along with
commendation certificates have been distributed for their future
encouragements.
10. 04.01.2017 Chandigarh Police Mounted Staff won two gold medals
The riders from the equestrian team of Chandigarh Police have won
two gold medals in single events of 35th All India Equestrian Games
“Shaktiman” at Hyderabad on 04.01.2017.
At first single event, Constable Manish Kumar Belt No. 6155/IRB has
won Gold Medal for Chandigarh Police in single event i.e.
Preliminary Fault Out. He achieved this success by jumping at
height of 1.10 meter with Mare namely Noorie. Total 72 riders had
participated in this event.
In another single event, Vol. Bhagwan Singh, Belt No. 245/CHG has
won Gold Medal in single event i.e. Normal Novice Jumping. He
achieved this success by jumping at height of 1.15 meter with Horse
namely Woodstock. Total 36 riders had participated in this event.
Earlier, the equestrian team of Chandigarh Police had also won
gold and three silver medals in Hax 3 events at Chandigarh Horse
Show-2016 at 13th battalion, PAP, Chandigarh.
Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra, IPS, Inspector General of Police, UT,
Chandigarh congratulated both of them and appreciated their
great achievements.
11. 04.01.2017 Chandigarh Police Mounted Staff won two gold medals
The riders from the equestrian team of Chandigarh Police have
won two gold medals in single events of 35th All India Equestrian
Games “Shaktiman” at Hyderabad on 04.01.2017.
At first single event, Constable Manish Kumar Belt No. 6155/IRB
has won Gold Medal for Chandigarh Police in single event i.e.

12. 05.01.2017 Chandigarh Police Wu-Shu team & Mounted Staff won two gold
medals & one Bronze
The Wu-Shu team of Chandigarh Police put-in another gem in the
crown of Chandigarh police by winning one Gold and one bronze
medal in All India Police Judo Cluster games at Kolkata on
06.01.2017. Today again, the equestrian team won one gold medal
for Chandigarh Police in Single Event. Now, the total number of
Gold medals reached to 3 with 1 silver medal for Chandigarh Police
in Equestrian events.
Detail of Medals on 06.01.2016:
1) Head Constable (ORP) Amit Kumar Belt No. 1223/CP has
won Gold Medal for Chandigarh Police in above 90 KG
weight in Wu-Shu game. He beat CRPF in three rounds
match in final.
2) Constable Sardhanand 6277/IRB has won Bronze Medal
for Chandigarh Police in below 85 KG match in Wu-Shu
game. He beat Uttrakhand Police in three rounds match
in final.
3) Today again, Vol. Bhagwan Singh, Belt No. 245/CHG
showed great performance and make proud moment
for Chandigarh Police in which he won another Gold
Medal in single event i.e. Show Jumping. He achieved
this success with securing top numbers by jumping at

14. 07.01.2017 Welfare Function at Police Lines, Sector 26, Chd
Chandigarh Police welfare center hold a function for distribution of
Certificates to the Police Wards, who have completed the
Painting/Arts and Beauty Parlour courses at Police Welfare Center at
Police lines, Sector-26, Chandigarh.
Mrs. Simerpreet Luthra (President of Chandigarh Police family
welfare society) w/o of Sh.Tajinder Singh Luthra, IPS, W/IGP, U.T
Chandigarh and Mrs. (Dr.) Shruti Singhal w/o of Sh. Eish Singhal
W/SSP U.T Chandigarh (Vice-President) along with wife‟s of other
Senior police officers were present on this occasion. In this training,
20 students have been imparted 6 months training in Arts/painting
Courses and 12 Police ward‟s/Wife‟s of Police Personnel have been
imparted 3 month‟s training course in Beauty Parlour. Total 32 Police
wards / Police officials Wife‟s were awarded with certificates in this
function by the Chief Guest, Mrs. Simerpreet Luthra, President
Chandigarh Police welfare society.
15. 07.01.2017 Welfare Function at Police Lines, Sector 26, Chd
Chandigarh Police welfare center hold a function for distribution

16. 09.01.2017 Workshop on DE-Addiction: Alcoholism and Smoking & Stress
Management
On 09.01.2017 in the evening a workshop on DE-Addiction:
Alcoholism and Smoking & Stress Management was organized by
Chandigarh Police in collaboration with Dr. Reddy‟s foundation for
Health Awareness in Recruit Training Centre, Sector-26, Chandigarh
under the guidance of Shri Tajinder Singh Luthra, I.P.S., I.G.P., U.T.,
Chandigarh and supervision of Shri R.K Singh, I.P.S., S.P. Operations &
Training. 120 police officers/officials (Inspectors, Sub Inspectors,
Assistant Sub Inspectors, Head Constables and Constables) of
Chandigarh Police attended this Workshop.
Dr. Rajeev Trehan, MD Psychiatric, Incharge De-Addiction and
Psychiatry Department, Civil Hospital, Panchkula (HR) delivered
lecture to the participants.
Dr. Brijlal, M.B.B.S. , PCMS, Police Hospital, Police Lines, Sector-26,
Chandigarh also interacted with the participants.
Sh. Jaswinder Singh, Dy.S.P./Training & Lines, U.T., Chandigarh also
addressed the participants on this issue.
Mr. Dhiraj Yadav, representative of Dr. Reddy foundation for Health
Awareness was also present in the workshop.

personnel regarding adverse effects of Alcohol, Smoking and other
Drugs/Intoxicants on the health of users. They were further told to
seek the help of the Expert/Doctor while quitting the same.

18. 30.01.2017 The two boxers i.e. Lady Constable Reena Belt No.4340/CP under 51
kg weight and Ct. Neeraj No. 3798/CP under 69 kg weight of
Chandigarh police have won two medals i.e. Silver and bronze in
their event in 65th All India Police Wrestling Cluster Meet at Patna,
Bihar.
19. 09.03.2017 Free Multi-specialty Health Camp at Police Hospital, Sector
26, Chandigarh
On 09.03.2017, a free Multi-specialty Health Camp was
organized at Police Hospital, Sector 26, Chandigarh by Max
Super Specialty Hospital, Mohali (PB). Police personnel who were
identified as High Risk, HTN and DM group of patients during the
Annual Medical Examination which was conducted routinely in
Police Hospital were also examined in this health camp.

Health Checkup camp in presence of Mrs. Meenakshi Kumar (w/o
W/DIG/UT), Mrs. Shruti Singhal (w/o W/SSP, Chandigarh. Mrs.
Kamla Girdhar (w/o SP/Communication), Ms. Anjitha Chepyala
DSP/W&CSU, Inspector Sita Devi, Inspector Kulvir Kaur, SI
Parvesh (In-charge Welfare Committee) and wife of other Police
Officers were also present on this occasion. The team of
doctors of Police Hospital, Sector 26, Chandigarh i.e. Dr. B.K.
Salwan, SMO, Dr. Pushpinder Mangat, Second Incharge, Dr. Brij
Lal, Medical Officer, Dr. Jaya Geitely, Medical Officer, Dr.
Amandeep, Medical Officer, Dr. Neha, Medical Officer were also
present on this occasion.
A team of doctors from Max Hospital including Dr. Dhruv
Vashishth from Orthopedics department, Dr Ashok Gupta from
Internal Medicine, Dr. Seema Sharma, Gynecologist and Dr.
Richa Sharma, Dietician provided free consultations to people.
Tests like BP, random blood sugar, ECG (on recommendations)
and bone mineral density tests were also offered free of cost in
the camp.
Sandeep Dogra, Senior Vice President and Zonal head of
Max Hospitals Punjab said that we are committed towards
making specialized healthcare services accessible to all sections
of society. Through this free medical camp, our endeavour is to
address the health concerns of all present in line with the Max
Group philosophy of „Seva-bhav‟. We have taken up the initiative
to provide consultation, diagnostics and services to all those
present at the Police hospital and hope this initiative would
benefit them.”
The officials/workers of Police Hospital, Sector 26,

Police family
On 25.03.2017, the Felicitation Ceremony of Meritorious Wards
of Chandigarh Police family was held in the Multipurpose Hall,
Police Lines, Sector 26, Chandigarh. Lady Governor, Mrs. Alka
Singh, wife of H.E. Governor of Punjab & Administrator, UT,
Chandigarh was the chief guest on this occasion. Mrs.
Simerpreet Luthra (President of Chandigarh Police family welfare
society) wife of Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra, IPS, W/DGP, U.T
Chandigarh, Mrs. Meenakshi wife of Sh. Alok Kumar, DIG/UT and
Mrs. (Dr.) Shruti Singhal w/o of Sh. Eish Singhal W/SSP U.T
Chandigarh (Vice-President of Chandigarh Police family welfare
society) along with wife‟s of other senior police officers were
present on this occasion. Mrs. Simerpreet Luthra (President of
Chandigarh Police family welfare society) delivered the welcome
speech. In her welcome speech she said “This event belongs to
wonderful young achievers who are receiving the rewards for
their hard work and outstanding performance. On this occasion, I
must mention the efforts by the members of Chandigarh Police
Family welfare society for their dedication in lifting the morale of
police wards, not only in academics but in other aspects of life”.
During the Felicitation Ceremony, Police scholarship was
distributed among the 93 police wards. The police wards who
secured 80% or above marks in the academic session of
Graduate level courses, 70 % or above marks in Post Graduate
course, 60 % or above marks in technical degree/diploma were
rewarded for the session 2015-2016. The police wards who
shown outstanding performance in professional courses and
other activities like excellence in sports, singing, dancing, other
talents hunt show (telecasts by various TV Channels), were also
rewarded. The total prize amount of Rs. 20,35,000/- was
distributed among the Meritorious Wards of Chandigarh Police
families.
Ms. Himanshi Tanwar, who is also participant of talent
hunt show on TV “The Voice of India, Season-2” performed a
beautiful Rajasthani Folk song on this occasion. She was also
rewarded by the Chief Guest.
Lady Governor, Mrs. Alka Singh, wife of H.E. Governor of
Punjab & Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, while addressing the
function appreciated the scholarship participant‟s efforts and
encouraged them to work hard in future to achieve their goal.
She also appreciated the efforts done by the Chandigarh Police
family welfare society. Further she congratulated the Chandigarh
Police family welfare society for this felicitation function. She said
“It‟s not easy to become a winner into this competitive world and
it really takes a lot of effort and dedication not just on the part of
students but it also includes the sacrifices and patience of
parents, especially for a policemen as it is very difficult to save
time for family because of long hours duties in their day-today
life. This is a very special moment for awardees and Chandigarh
Police Family welfare society which is doing noble job by
recognizing the hard work of police wards.

21. 11.09.2017 Today, i.e. on 11.09.2017 an Awareness Programme on “ Extent
and Pattern of Substance ( Drug) Abuse and its Consequences ”
was organized in collaboration with Deptt. of Psychiatry, GMCH-32,
Chandigarh in Recruit Training Centre(RTC) , Sector-26,
Chandigarh under the guidance of Shri Tajender Singh Luthra, I.P.S.,
D.G.P., U.T., Chandigarh and under the supervision of Sh. Ravi
Kumar, I.P.S., S.P./ Operations & Training. 95 police officers
(Inspector, Sub Inspectors, Assistant Sub Inspectors and Constables)
have attended this programme.
During this programme , Dr. Ajeet Sidana ,
Associate Professor Govt. Medical College and Hospital, Sector-32,
Chandigarh delivered lecture to the participants in which he
explained that Narcotics Drugs are dangerous drugs, because
once a person becomes addicted to drugs, he not only has a
desire for the drug that keeps returning but also requires higher and
higher dose of drug each time. Narcotic drugs damage the
nervous system and have adverse effects on vision, hearing and the
cardiovascular system. Overdoses of Narcotic drugs can cause
death. Drug addicts have poor social relations and are sometimes
responsible for many unlawful activities and commit crimes to get
money for purchasing drugs which are available at very high prices.
The objective of this programme was to create
awareness among the police personnel on Drug Abuse and Harmful
effects of Drugs in society and how to overcome from these social
evils.
22. 12.09.2017 Today, i.e. on 12.09.2017 workshop on “ Banking Fraud (ATM,
Credit & Debit Card, Cyber Crime) and Anti Money Laundering ”
was organized in collaboration with AXIS Bank in Recruit Training
Centre(RTC) , Sector-26, Chandigarh under the guidance of Shri
Tajender Singh Luthra, I.P.S., D.G.P., U.T., Chandigarh and under the
supervision of Sh. Ravi Kumar, I.P.S., S.P./ Operations & Training. 87
police officers (Inspector, Sub Inspectors, Assistant Sub Inspectors
and Constables) have attended this programme.
During this workshop, Sh. Harjit Singh, M.Sc. MBA,
Regional Head (Pb, Hry & J&K) Fraud Control Unit, delivered lecture
to the participants in which he explained the various channels of e-
banking and precautionary measures to avoid the frauds. He further
told that how the electronic frauds are perpetrated and how we
can recognize the different type of deceptions and utilize the key
information to investigate the frauds.
The purpose of this workshop was to aware the
participants about various frauds in electronic banking and
credit/debit cards and Anti money laundering. This training will help
the Police officials in future while investigating such type of fraud
cases.
23. 27.09.2017 Workshop on Organ Donation and Role of Police in Organ Donation
Today, i.e. on 27.09.2017 an awareness programme on “Organ
Donation and Role of Police in Organ Donation.‟” was organized in
collaboration with Mohan Foundation in Recruit Training
Centre(RTC) , Sector-26, Chandigarh under the guidance of Shri
Tajender Singh Luthra, I.P.S., D.G.P., U.T., Chandigarh and under the
supervision of Sh. Ravi Kumar, I.P.S., S.P./ Operations & Training. 167
police officers (Inspector, Sub Inspectors, Assistant Sub Inspectors,
Head Constables and Constables) have attended this programme.
Ms. Deeplika, Project Manager, Mohan Foundation explained as to
which organs can be donated by a diseased person and living
person. She also explained the concept of Brain Death and it‟s
clinical evaluation.
Mr. Sudhir Dewan, Director, Mohan Foundation spoke on the role of
police especially in MLC cases. He informed that in India there is an
accident death every 3.7 minutes and 66% of the accident victims
can be counselled for Organ Donation. Dewan said that
Chandigarh Police has always played a proactive role in case
proceedings and also in creating Green Corridors
The objective of this programme was to create awareness among
the police personnel regarding donation of organs and to discuss
the important role of police in this regard to save a life and also in
creating Green Corridors while transporting the human organs.

Achievement in field of sports and games
1. Lady Constable Reena, Belt No. 4340/CP of Chandigarh Police
put in another gem in the field of sports & games by winning
1st position in boxing in category weight 57 Kg in 17th
Chandigarh State Senior Women Boxing Championship, held
at Hockey Stadium, Sector 42, Chandigarh on 3rd & 4th
October, 2017.Besides this, earlier she had also participated
in 65th All India Police Wrestling Cluster Meet at Patna, Bihar
and was stood in second position in 54 Kg weight.
2. Achievement in Assam Rifles 26th Senior National WUSHU
Championship Constable Sandeep Kundu No. 1550/CP of
Chandigarh Police put in another gem in the field of sports &
games by winning Bronze Medal in below 90 Kg category in
Assam Rifles 26th Senior National WUSHU Championship held
at Shilong. This has brought laurel to Chandigarh Police at
National level.
3. In Yoga event Lady constable Sushma won two medals i.e. Gold
Medal in Yoga Ashana and also won bronze medal in Yoga
Artistic Single Women Category. She has brought laurel to
Chandigarh Police with her achievement. The competition is
still in progress.
25. 25.10.2017 Chandigarh Police pays tribute to the Martyrs of Chandigarh
Police, on 25-10-2017.
25 October: Chandigarh Police organized ceremonies at 5 districts of
Punjab to commemorate the supreme sacrifice made by Insp. Jagjit
Singh, ASI Amarjit Singh, ASI Lalu Ram, Inspector Sucha Singh and
SI Amarjit Singh while serving in the Chandigarh Police. The functions
were held at the schools/colleges in the native home towns of martyrs
in which these valiant men studied. The functions were held at below

in the presence of family members of the martyrs, staff and students
of the respective schools/colleges and other prominent personalities
of the local administration. Hon‟ble Governor Punjab also addressed
the gathering on each occasion. Remembering the brave souls on the
occasion Sh. V.P. Badnore highlighted the sacrifice made by the slain
martyrs in the line of duty:
In first function held at Fazilka, Punjab, Hon‟ble Governor said that
Late Inspector Jagjit Singh joined Chandigarh Police as ASI on May 6,
1972. While posted as SHO/PS-39, on 17 July, 1988, he led a raid at
a residence in sector-45, where some terrorists, armed with
sophisticated weapons, were taking shelter. Exhibiting exemplary
courage and leadership, he broke open the door and rushed inside the
house. In this encounter three terrorists were killed. Insp. Jagjit
Singh also received fatal bullet injuries and was martyred on the spot.
Making the occasion special an annual scholarship of Rs. 11,000/- was
announced by Chandigarh Police for the Matric class topper namely
Simran D/o Raj Kumar who secured 75.84 % marks in Govt. High
School Branch Abohar, Fazilka, Punjab.
After that Hon‟ble Governor Punjab attended that function at District
Faridkot, Punjab. Speaking on the occasion he stated that, Late ASI
lalu Ram joined as a constable in Punjab Police on 29 June, 1976 and
joined Chandigarh Police on deputation on 30 May, 1978. On August
29, 1991, while he was posted as PSO to SSP/Chandigarh, some
terrorists laid an explosive trap which blasted the SSP‟s car. ASI
Lalu Ram was martyred on the spot. Making the occasion special an
annual scholarship of Rs. 11,000/- was given to topper Kashdeep Singh
S/o Sh. Raj Pal who secured 84 % marks in the Matric class at Gandhi
Memorial High School, Kotkapura, Faridkot, Punjab.
In the afternoon, Hon‟ble Governor Punjab paid tribute to Saheed ASI
Amarjit Singh, at District Hoshiarpur, Punjab. Remembering the
sacrifice made by Sh. Amarjit Singh, he said that Late ASI Amarjit
Singh joined Chandigarh Police on July 26, 1976. On December 8,
1989, while he was posted in the Police Post-36, he was ambushed and
martyred on the patrolling duty near village Kajheri by two terrorists
riding a motorcycle. Making the occasion special an annual scholarship
of Rs. 11,000/- was given to topper Anjali who secured 91 % marks in
the Matric class at Khalsa College, Garhdiwal, Distt. Hoshiarpur,
Punjab.
At the last Hon‟ble Governor paid homage to Saheed Insp. Sucha
Singh at Distt. S.A.S Nagar (Mohali). Addressing the solemn
ceremony he described the great sacrifice made by brave soul and
said that Inspector Sucha Singh joined Chandigarh Police as Constable
on April 30, 1976. While posted in the traffic wing of the Chandigarh
Police, he was on the night checking duty in the area of sub-division
central on the night intervening of June 8/9, 2013. During checking
he questioned one suspicious couple sitting near the district court,
sector-17, Chandigarh. During the process, the accused stabbed him
multiple times due to which he was martyred. Inspector Sucha Singh
sacrificed his life valiantly so that others could live safely. Making the
occasion special an annual scholarship of Rs. 11,000/- was given to
topper Harsh Kumar S/o Ram Chander who secured 80.92 % marks in
the Matric class at Munna Lal Puri Senior Secondary School, Mullanpur
Garibdas, Distt. S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali), Punjab.
A ceremony to commemorate the supreme sacrifice made SI Amarjit
Singh was held at Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Amargarh Pada, Mehna, Distt.
Moga (PB). Shri. Roshan Lal, SP/Communication along with team of
Chandigarh Police, paid humble tribute to the martyr in the presence
of his family members, School staff and students and other prominent
personalities of the local administration. Making the occasion special
an annual scholarship of Rs. 11,000/- was given to topper Mandeep
Kaur D/o Amarjit Singh who secured 92 % marks in the Matric class
at Govt. Sr. Sec. School Amargarh Pada, Mehna, Moga, Punjab. This

Sh. Amarjit Singh, SI joined Punjab Police as Constable on 25.05.1973
and joined Chandigarh Police on deputation. On February 25, 1992, SI
Amarjit Singh along with other police officials was escorting under
trial terrorists to PGI, Chandigarh for their treatment, some
unidentified attacked the police party. Late SI Amarjit Singh bravely
fought the terrorist till he martyr.
The annual scholarship Scheme of Rs. 11,000/- by Chandigarh Police
will be in continuation and given on annual basis in the name of each
martyr for the Matric class topper of their respective native schools.
H.E. Governor Punjab also honoured the family members of the
Martyrs by a memento and shawl. At the end a two minute silence
prayer was held in the ceremonies of martyrs of Chandigarh police.
Hon‟ble Governor congratulated Chandigarh Police for remembering
the martyrs by organizing such events and showcasing their sacrifice
to stimulate sense of patriotism among the young generations.
26. 21.10.2017 Tribute To Martyr Companions
On 21.10.2017, a Commemoration Parade was organized at the
Ground of Police Station, Sector-17 Chandigarh in memory of the
martyred companions. Every year, 21st October is the day of
remembrance of the martyred companions who laid down their lives
during obligation of their duties. On this occasion, two-minute silence
was held to salute the memory of Comrades who sacrificed their lives.
Central Police Organizations and State Police celebrate‟s this day in
the form of Martyrdom Day.
Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra, IPS, Director General of Police, UT,
Chandigarh along with other police officers paid homage to their
departed comrades at the Martyrs Memorial Site. Last year from 1st
September 2016 to August 2017 total 383 Police Officers and Police
Personnel from paramilitary police forces and police organizations
have set exemplary example before their colleagues by sacrificing
their lives during duty. This year the number of officers and jawans
who laid down their lives during duty is as under:-

The history of commemoration day traces back to October 21, 1959,
when a police party of the Indian police force was deployed to defend
national frontiers in the Ladakh region. The same was attacked by
Chinese troops hidden by forming ambush in hills and 10 CRPF jawans
were killed. Since then, this day is celebrated as Martyrdom Day at
Central Police Organizations and Police Forces in remembrance of
countless sacrifice of martyr companions.

Chandigarh Police pays tribute to the Martyr of Chandigarh Police,
Saheed ASI Amin Chand on 23-10-2017
October 23: The Chandigarh Police paid homage it‟s Martyr ASI Amin
Chand in an event held at his native school, Senior Secondary School
LUNJ, District Kangra, HP, on Monday. The Memorial function was
presided by Sh. Acharya Devvrat His Excellency the Governor
Himachal Pradesh. The memorial function was held in the presence of
wife and family members of Saheed ASI Amin Chand, principal and
students of SSS Lunj and several other people of the region. A special
team of Chandigarh Police headed by Sh. Shashank Anand, IPS,
SSP/Traffic & Security and DSP Uday Pal was also present to pay
tribute to the brave soul.
The ceremony started with “Salami” given by the Police. After that a
two-minute silent prayer was held in memory of the Saheed ASI Amin
Chand. Addressing the gathering on the solemn occasion, Sh. Acharya
Devvrat His Excellency the Governor Himachal Pradesh elaborated the
supreme sacrifice made by Shri Amin Chand in the line of his duty.
Stating about his earlier life he added that “ASI Amin Chand joined
the Chandigarh Police as constable on June 4th, 1981 and served more
than 10 years. During his service in Chandigarh Police he bestowed
with 44 commendation certificates including 9 CC-1 with cash prize of
Rs. 2625/-. He was martyred on August 29, 1991 in a bomb blast by
some terrorists, while he was posted as driver with then SSP. Sh.
Amin Chand also served Indian Army and was decorated with five
medals including Raksha Medal, SSS Medal etc.
His Excellency the Governor, Himachal Pradesh also announced the
scholarship of Rs. 11,000/- from Chandigarh Police in the name of
Saheed Amin Chand for Matric class topper of this school. During
this solemn ceremony HE Governor Himachal Pradesh also honored
family members of the slain martyr. At the end, he lauded the step
taken by Chandigarh Police for remembering the martyrs by organizing
such events and showcasing their sacrifice to stimulate sense of
patriotism among the young generations.

Award Function for Civilians/Police Personnels for their good work
An award function was held at GO‟s Mess, Police Lines, Sector 26,
Chandigarh to recognize the good work done by Civilians, police
officials and Home Guards. On this occasion, police personnel who
retired from police services after attaining the age of superannuation
were also honored by Dr. O.P. Mishra, IPS, DIG/UT, accompanied by
Sh. Eish Singhal, IPS, SP/Head Quarters and Sh. Roshan Lal,
SP/Communication, other Police Officers including DSPs and
Inspectors were also present at the Function. The police officers and
other officials who retired after attaining the age of
superannuation are Insp. (ORP) Prem Nath, Insp. (ORP) Mohinder
Singh, Insp. (ORP) Achhar Chand, Insp. (ORP) Dharam Pal, Insp. (ORP)

also invited on this occasion as a Guest of Honor.

On 27.10.2017, a Special Session/Lecture on the topic Fighting the
enemy within : Towards a transformative psychology of the self was
organized in Recruit Training Centre(RTC), Sector-26, Chandigarh
under the guidance of Shri Tajender Singh Luthra, I.P.S., D.G.P., U.T.,
Chandigarh and under the supervision of Sh. Ravi Kumar, I.P.S., S.P./
Operations & Training. 100 police officers (Dy.S.P., Inspectors, Sub
Inspectors, Assistant Sub Inspectors, Head Constables and
Constables) have attended this session.
Shri Ravi Kumar Singh, IPS, SP/Operations & Training delivered
welcome speech and introduced the Guest Faculty.
Dr. Mukesh Srivastva , Chairman, Centre for Law, Language and
Culture, National Law Institute, Bhopal University, delivered lecture
to the participants, and explained how we can change ourselves from
within and keep up with the changing times. He answered the queries
of participants. In the end of the session SP/Operations & Training
delivered vote of thanks.
The purpose of this session was to sensitize the police personnel and

To give significance to sports/games and to encourage the sports
persons, Chandigarh Police launched various schemes/rewards and

proud of the achievements of their wards who presently getting
positions/medals in the field of sports and games.
In this order, to motivate the wards of Chandigarh Police & civilians
the cash rewards of Rs. 1100/- each has been given to the participants
who got positions/medal in wresting at “Union Territory, Chandigarh,

2017
Chandigarh Police sports team put in another gem in the field of
sports & games by winning three medals (One Gold & Two Bronze
medals) in 66th All India Police Wrestling Cluster 2017 held at Pune on
31.10.2017.
1. Lady Constable Reena, Belt No. 4340/CP of Chandigarh
Police won Gold Medal in 48 Kg weight category in
Boxing.
2. Constable Neeraj, Belt No. 3798 of Chandigarh Police
won Bronze Medal in 69 Kg weight category in Boxing.
3. Constable Amit, Belt No. 1223 of Chandigarh Police won
Bronze Medal in 97 Kg weight category in Wrestling.
They have brought laurels to Chandigarh Police at All India
Police level by their great achievements. Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra,
IPS, Director General of Police, UT, Chandigarh, congratulated them

32. 01.11.2017 Police Week: 51st Raising Day of Chandigarh Police: Police Week
Chandigarh Police has been playing a key role in keeping the
city beautiful-Chandigarh, a role model city as was dreamt by its
planner Le-Corbusier.
Chandigarh Police was raised after the declaration of
Chandigarh as Union territory on 1st November, 1966. The first Chief
of Chandigarh Police was Sh. V.K. Kalia, SSP. The post of IGP was
created in the year 1981 and 17 Inspector General‟s of Police have
been appointed till date. Presently, Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra, IPS is
the Director General of Police. SSP Chandigarh (for maintaining Law &
Order), SP/Operation & training (for training and special operation),
SP/Traffic and Security (for maintaining Traffic & Security
arrangements in the city) and SP/IRB are working under Deputy
Inspector General of Police. Today the number of police personnel in
Chandigarh police has reached to 6000 to maintain security, law &
orders and traffic arrangements in the city.
This year also, Chandigarh Police is celebrating “Chandigarh
Police Week-2017” from 1st November, 2017 to 7th November, 2017,
which has become an annual feature. The basic objective of Police
Week is to build a close bonding with the members of the public and
to form stronger partnerships between Police and the communities
they serve. The Police week is being organized to promote respect for
law, build public interest in and support the Police, thus reducing the
gap between the Police and public. During the Chandigarh Police Week,
celebrations will definitely bring community, people, citizen forums,
students closer to Police to build up the desired trust and rapport as
required. Chandigarh Police has been continuously striving to keep the
city safe & secure. Various units of Chandigarh Police like District
Police, PCR, Operation Cell, Security Wing, Traffic Police keep working
round the clock to provide best policing services to the citizens.
To mark this occasion, today, a parade was organized in Police
Lines, Sector 26, Chandigarh. His Excellency Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore,
Governor of Punjab & Administrator, UT, Chandigarh was the chief

Police to control the law and order situation, control procession from
Haryana & Punjab, traffic and crime control in the city. He also
appreciated Chandigarh Police for participation and achievements in
sports activities at national and international level like winning gold
medal in Mr. Olymia Amateur Asia and also in World Police & Fire
Games. His Excellency said “The name of Chandigarh Police is counted
as the best known police force. As per orders of MHA, Crime &
Criminal Tracking Network System has been implemented in all police
stations of Chandigarh Police. The installation of CCTV cameras under
Nigehban Project is very helpful to make citizens safe and secure. To
bring the morale of police force 259 police officials were promoted
during the year 2017. HE appreciated the steps taken by DGP/UT for
e-governance and community policing which becomes helpful to provide
public services to the citizens at their door step. HE also suggested
for zero tolerance about corruption in Chandigarh. HE also expects
Chandigarh Police will continue follow their duties with skills and
transparency at the time ahead. HE assured to get the approvals for
Chandigarh Police projects which are pending with different
departments of administration as soon as possible.
33. 06.11.2017 Acheivement by Police Wards in international level
competition/sports event.
Chandigarh police is proud of the achievements of Indian Women
Hockey Team for winning Gold Medal and become Asian Champions in
the 9th Women‟s Asia Cup 2017 held at Japan.
In this Indian Women Hockey team, Ms. Monica daughter of Takdir
Malik, Head Constable at Chandigarh Police, was the team member of
this Indian Women Hockey Team and made the country, Chandigarh
Police and her parents proud by becoming Asian Champions in Women
Hockey.

ranking-2017
The Police Hospital, Sector 26, Chandigarh has been adjudged with
ranking of third position in Swatch ranking-2017 and a well deserved
recipient of „Certificate‟ and „Swachh Trophy‟ on 10th December 2017.
This Swatch Dispensary Contest was organized by Municipal
Corporation, UT, Chandigarh by conducting survey of schools,
hospitals, hotels, market welfare associations and MCC wards for
Swachh Ranking 2017. The award was given by Sh. Jitender Yadav,
IAS, Commissioner, MC, Chandigarh and received by Dr. Pushpinder

Championship
Constable Sandeep Kundu Belt No. 1550/CP of Chandigarh
Police has put in another gem in the field of sports & games by winning
Gold medal in 36th Senior National Taekwondo Championship held at
Jammu and Kashmir from 23 to 27 november2017. Constable Sandeep
Kundu Belt No. 1550/CP is presently posted in police lines and has
brought laurels to Chandigarh Police at national level championship.

An award function was held at GO‟s Mess, Police Lines, Sector 26,
Chandigarh to recognize the good work done by Civilians, police
officials and Home Guards. On this occasion, police personnel who
retired from police services after attaining the age of superannuation
were also honored by Dr. O.P. Mishra, IPS, DIG/UT, accompanied by
Sh. Shashank Anand, IPS, SSP/Traffic & Security, Ms. Nilambari
Jagdale, IPS, SSP/UT, Sh. Eish Singhal, IPS, SP/Head Quarters and
Sh. Ravi Kumar, SP/Operations, other Police Officers including DSPs
and Inspectors were also present at the Function. The police officers

38. 02.11.2017 Police Week: Bada Khana & Award Ceremony to facilitate the
police wards
On the eve of 51st Raising Day, Chandigarh Police is celebrating Police
Week from 1st Nov to 7th Nov 2017. To mark this occasion,
Chandigarh Police will be organizing various activities/functions for
strengthening the image of Chandigarh Police during the Police Week.
In the chevron of celebration of Police Week, today, a Cultural
Programme followed by the „Bada Khana‟ was organized at Multi-
Purpose Hall, Police Lines, Sector 26, Chandigarh. Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS,
Advisor to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh was the chief guest on
the occasion. Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra, IPS, Director General of
Police, Sh. Anurag Aggarwal, IAS, Home Secretary, UT, Chandigarh
along with other officers from Chandigarh Administration & police
department, their families and retired police officers of Chandigarh
Police were present in the function.
On this occasion, an Award Ceremony to facilitate the police wards
was also organized by Chandigarh Police for their outstanding
achievements in academics/ professional courses/ technical degree /
sports / extracurricular activities during the year 2016-17. Total 60
police wards were awarded with incentives for their outstanding
achievements. These includes 21 from professional courses like MBA,
BCA, BBA, 5 from Post Graduation degree, 32 from Technical
Degree/Medical Degree and 2 from Graduation degree. A total
of 17,80,000/- cash rewards along with commendation certificates

1. The riders from the equestrian team of Chandigarh Police
participated in 36th all India Police Equestrian Championship &
Mounted Police Duty Meet-2017, being held at Patna-Bihar
w.e.f. 29.12.2017 to 07.01.2018. In the event of SHOE
JUMPING preliminary, total 64 riders along with their mounts
participated in which our one rider Const. Pankaj No.6632/IRB
has won the SILVER MEDAL with his horse named Shiva.
2. The Wushu team of Chandigarh Police participated in 7th
Chandigarh State Wushu Championship held at Panjab
University, Chandigarh under the guidance of coach constable
Sandeep Kumar 1547/CP on 31.12.2017 and won 4 below
medals:-
I. Constable Shardanand of IRB of Chandigarh Police won
Gold Medal in below 80 Kg weight category in Wushu.
II. Lady Constable Manpreet Kaur of IRB of Chandigarh
Police won Gold Medal in below 48 Kg weight category
in Wushu.
III. Constable Anil Kumar of IRB of Chandigarh Police won
Bronze Medal in below 75 Kg weight category in

40. 02.01.2018 Sports Acheivements
The riders from the equestrian team of Chandigarh Police
participated in 36th all India Police Equestrian Championship &
Mounted Police Duty Meet-2017, being held at Patna-Bihar w.e.f.
29.12.2017 to 07.01.2018.
On 2nd & 3rd January events, our riders won three more
medals/positions in this competition. The detail of medal/position is
given below.
1. Const. KULDEEP KUMAR No.6182/IRB has won the BRONZE
MEDAL (on horse named WOOD STOCK) in the event of
show jumping medium normal. Total 15 mounts had
participated in this event.
2. Const. MANISH KUMAR 6155/IRB (Rider on mare Noorie) has
won SILVER MEDAL in the event of Medium Top Score Show
Jumping. Total 15 mounts had participated in this event.
3. One more rider Const. Kuldeep kumar No.6182/IRB (Rider
on horse named wood stock) has got 4th position in the
event of Medium Top Score Show Jumping.

27 Jan to 28 Jan 2018. They have won medals under the guidance

Throw and also won Bronze Medal in Hammer Throw.

42. 27.01.2018 Free Orthopaedic Camp and Health Talk for Chandigarh
Police Employees, their families and dependents at Police Hospital,
Sector 26, Chandigarh
On 27.01.2018, a free Orthopaedic Camp was organized at Police
Hospital, Sector 26, Chandigarh by Max Elite Orthopaedic Hospital,
Mohali (PB) and in association with Chandigarh Police. Dr. Manuj
Wadhwa, Director, Max Elite Orthopaedic Hospital, Mohali (PB)
along with his team examined 203 patients with the management
of Dr. Pushpinder Mangat, SMO, I/C Police Hospital, Sector 26,
Chandigarh. Mrs. Simerpreet Luthra, President of Chandigarh Police
family welfare society (w/o of Sh. Tajinder Singh Luthra, IPS, W/DGP,
U.T Chd) along with wife of other Senior Police Officers were present
on this occasion.
This camp was organized to check healthy bones and prevent
Osteoarthritis. The free consultations for bone diseases,
physiotherapy, dietary and BMD were done during this camp. Dr.
Pushpinder Mangat, SMO, I/C Police Hospital, Sector 26,
Chandigarh added that such camps are really helpful activity
among the patients and will be organized in future also. The
mementos were presented by Mrs. Simerpreet Luthra to the team of
Max Elite Orthopaedic Hospital, Mohali (PB) and other participants.
43. 24 & 25.02.2018 Two days Workshop on Investigation and Efficient Functioning of
Police Stations
A two days Workshop on Investigation and Efficient Functioning
of Police Stations was organized for Inspectors/newly posted SHOs,
Sub Inspectors in Chandigarh Police Training Centre, Sector-26,
Chandigarh under the guidance of Sh. Tajinder Singh Luthra, IPS,
DG, UT, Chandigarh. Dr. O.P. Mishra, IPS, DIG, UT, Chandigarh
has inaugurated the workshop in which 25 Inspectors and 55 Sub
Inspectors of Chandigarh Police have participated. Sh. Shashank
Anand, IPS , SSP, Security & Traffic, Ms. Nilambari Jagadale, IPS,
SSP/UT, Sh. Ravi Kumar Singh, IPS, SP/Operations & Crime were
present during the inauguration of above workshop.
On the first day of workshop i.e. on 24.02.2018, Dr.
O.P Mishra, IPS , DIG/UT Chandigarh, Ms. Nilambari Jagadale, IPS,
SSP/UT and other GOs delivered lectures on Image of Police,
Familiarization & knowledge about Police Station records, Women
Safety & Human Trafficking, Manpower deployment of in Police
Stations, Preparation of Dossiers , Prevention and Detection of Crime
and Community Policing respectively.
Today, i.e. on 25.02.2018 lectures have delivered on
different topics i.e. Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems
(CCTNS) and special emphasis were given on as it being a National
Level Project by Sh. Shashank Anand, IPS, SSP/Security & Traffic,
Sh. Ravi Kumar Singh, IPS, SP/Operations & Crime delivered the
lecture on Cyber Crime and Investigation of Economic Offences in
detail. Other Police Officers spoke on the topics such as
Investigation of Heinous Crime, Various Schemes of Chandigarh Police,
Monitoring of Criminals in Heinous Offences from Jail through
dedicated teams. A similar two days workshop will be held in the
month of March for the remaining Inspectors and Sub Inspectors.
The main objective to conduct this workshop is to
enhance and refresh the knowledge of Inspectors/SHOs, I/C Police
Posts and other investigating officer of Chandigarh Police for
efficient functioning of Police Stations and proper implementation of
law in the City Beautiful.

A 02 days workshop on Soft Skills and Personality Development
was organized on 21&22.02.2018 in Recruit Training Centre,
Sector-26, Chandigarh under the guidance of Shri Tajender Singh
Luthra, I.P.S., D.G.P., U.T., Chandigarh and supervision of Shri

Sh. Gaurav Sharma and Ms. Shilpi Rana, Master Trainer of an
NGO namely Saksham Capable India, Sector-44-D, Chandigarh,
delivered lecture to the participants on Soft Skills and Personality
Development by using anecdotes from the lives of Successful People,
History, Technical aspects related to the theme, causes, and effects
on their personal and professional life were discussed. Role of key
aspects like mental, social, emotional, physical, moral and spiritual in
developing personality of an individual in developing soft Skills of an
individual and how it impacts their communication was discussed in an
interesting, interactive and informative manner. Various factors which
influence communications and their relevance in their professional
dimensions of life were discussed using several examples.
The main objective of the special sessions is to sensitize the police
personnel regarding Soft Skills and how to deal with the public.
46. 27.02.2018 Award Function to recognize the good work done by police

47. 12.03.2018 Workshop on Investigation and Efficient Functioning of Police
Stations
A two days Workshop on Investigation and Efficient Functioning
of Police Stations was organized for Inspectors/newly posted SHOs,
Sub Inspectors in Chandigarh Police Training Centre, Sector-26,
Chandigarh under the guidance of Sh. Tajinder Singh Luthra, IPS,
DG, UT, Chandigarh. A same workshop was organized on 24 &
25.03.2018 for different Police Officers which was inaugurated by
Dr. O.P. Mishra, IPS, DIG, UT, Chandigarh. Today 26 Inspectors
and 55 Sub Inspectors of Chandigarh Police have participated.
On the first day of workshop i.e. on 10.03.2018, Ms. Nilambari
Jagadale, IPS, SSP/UT Chandigarh, delivered the lecture on the topic
of knowledge about Police Station records, Sh. Rajinder Singh,
District Attorney delivered the lecture on Compliance of Court
directions, Juvenile Justice Act and Amendments in Law in detail.
Other GOs delivered lectures on Familiarization & Various schemes of
Chandigarh Police & Manpower deployment in Police Stations,
Prevention and detection of crime, Compliance of Court direct
respectively.
Today, i.e. on 11.03.2018 lectures have delivered on different topics
i.e. Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) and
special emphasis were given on as it being a National Level Project by
Sh. Shashank Anand, IPS, SSP/Security & Traffic. Other Police
Officers spoke on the topics such as Cyber Crime and Investigation of
Economic Offences, Investigation of Heinous Crime, Women safety,
Monitoring of Criminals in Heinous Offences from Jail through
dedicated teams.
The main objective to conduct this workshop is to enhance and
refresh the knowledge of Inspectors/SHOs, I/C Police Posts and
other investigating officer of Chandigarh Police for efficient
functioning of Police Stations and proper implementation of law in the
City Beautiful.

life of a girl who intended to commit suicide at Sukhna Lake,
Chandigarh on 17.03.2018. He timely informed the police and
save a life which is highly appreciable.

Huda Colony, Panchkula (HR):- He always comes forward
voluntarily to assist/help the Chandigarh Police at various
occasions. He always co-operate by providing his service for
every possible assistance to Chandigarh Police.
11. Mr. Masihudin Ansari R/o # 1473, Village Burail,
Chandigarh:- He apprehended one boy who along with one
another boy robbed bag containing 2,92,000/- and important
documents on 22.03.2018. A case FIR NO. 105 U/S 392, 34
IPC of PS-34 was worked out.
49. 13.04.2018 Free Orthopaedic Camp and Health Talk for Chandigarh Police at
Police Hospital, Sector 26, Chandigarh
On 13.04.2018, a free Orthopaedic Camp and Health Talk was
organized at Police Hospital, Sector 26, Chandigarh by renowned
Australian Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Manit Arora specialized in
Orthopaedic, Arthoscopy and Sports Medicine. Dr. Manit Arora
exchanged information on Key Hole Cartilage Saving Surgery for
Knees and other joints. The talk was attended by about 300 police
personnel of all ranks including Doctors and staff from Police Hospital
and also by High ranked officers of Chandigarh Police. The talk was
well received by the audience and Police personnel as all have
appreciated the new technology from overseas which can beneficial
for them in the coming days.
A free consultation medical camp was also organized wherein
Dr. Manit Arora gave consultations to about 70 patients includes
Police personnel and their family members.
Dr. Arora and Chandigarh Police join hands to provide world
class Orthopaedic treatment to all Chandigarh Police staff to keep the
force healthy. DGP, Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra, IPS, thanked Dr.
Arora for his association with Chandigarh Police.
Dr. Pushpinder Mangat, SMO, I/C Police Hospital, Sector 26,
Chandigarh added that such camps are really helpful activity among
the patients/police personnel‟s and will be organized in future also.
50. 17.04.2018 Computer Course for the Children of colony areas
Chandigarh Police and Infosys have jointly organized one month
Computer Course especially for the children of colony areas of
Chandigarh. The course was conducted at Computer Lab in RTC at
Police Lines sector-26, Chandigarh from 08.3.2018 to 05.4.2018.
During the course, Microsoft Word, Excel and Power-point were
covered. Students were taught theoretical concepts as well as
practically trained by the staff of Infosys. Transportation was also
provided by the Chandigarh Police for those children who were unable
to attend the course at their own conveyance.
Total 33 Children (22 boys & 11 girls) have successfully
completed the said Course. These concepts shall help these students
to do basic front desk/receptionist/Date Entry tasks. All the 33
children have been given certificates by SSP UT Nilambari Jagadale
and Infosys Centre Head, Chandigarh.
51. 18 & 21.04.2018 Achievement in 2nd All India Police Judo Cluster Championship-
2018
Chandigarh Police won four medals in 2nd All India Police Judo
Cluster Championship-2018 held at New Delhi on 18 & 21 april 2018.

Silver (Wushu), Two Bronze (Wushu) with their outstanding

On 16.05.2018, occasion of National Dengue Day, a pledge on keeping
our surroundings clean and preventing transmission of Dengue was
administered at Police Lines, Sector 26, Chandigarh. The staff of
Police Hospital, Sector 26, Chandigarh, students of GMSS, Sector 26,
Chandigarh and police personnel‟s and their families were present and
participated in pledge against dengue.
A lecture was also delivered by Dr. Upenderjeet Singh Gill,
ADM, UT, Chandigarh, Dr. Brij Lal, Medical Officer and Sh. Jaswinder
Singh, DSP/Lines, who aware the participants about preventing Dengue
and keep healthy life. After this an awareness rally was also organized
with posters and banners by students of GMSS, Sector 26,
Chandigarh spreading awareness about cleanliness and preventing
Dengue.

55. 04.06.2018 Workshop on “Cigarette and Other Tobacco Product Act, 2003 and
Role of Police in Implementation
Workshop on “Cigarette and Other Tobacco Product Act, 2003 and
Role of Police in Implementation of this Act" was organized in Recruit
Training Centre, Sector-26, Chandigarh under the guidance of Shri
Tajender Singh Luthra, I.P.S, DGP, U.T., Chandigarh and under
supervision of DSP/Training. In this workshop 50 Police officials (Sub
Inspectors, Assistant Sub Inspectors, Head Constables and
Constables) of Chandigarh Police participated.
Ms. Opinderjit Kaur Gill, President, Generation Saviour
Association (NGO), Mohali and her 2 colleague, delivered the lectures
and interacted with the participants on the bad effects of smoking
like toxin in cigarette, particularly Carbon Monoxide and free radicals,
inhibit in blood from „flowing through the body. All major organs such
as brain, the heart, muscles and tissues in the body all rely upon blood
circulation in order to receive oxygen and nutrients. Smoking leads to
asthma, heart attack and diseases relating to lungs. In addition to
that Police officers are also sensitized about the implementation of
various Sections of COTPA, 2003.
The main objective of this workshop was to sensitize the
Police officers/officials about the bad effects of Smoking and use of
other tobacco products which may be cause of various diseases.

effects of Drugs in society On 30.06.2018 a Seminar on Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking
and Harmful effects of Drugs in society was organized in
Recruit Training Centre(RTC) , Sector-26, Chandigarh under the
guidance of Shri Sanjay Baniwal, I.P.S., D.G.P., U.T., Chandigarh
and under the supervision of Sh. Ravi Kumar, I.P.S., S.P./
Operations & Training. 105 Police officers (Inspectors, Sub
Inspectors, Assistant Sub Inspectors , Head Constables and
Constables) have attended this programme. During the first session of the Seminar, Dr. Gurwinder Pal
Singh, M.B.B.S, M.D. , Associate Professor, Psychiatric
Department, Govt. Medical College and Hospital, Sector-32,
Chandigarh delivered lecture to the participants in which he
explained that Narcotics Drugs are dangerous for life,
because once a person becomes addicted to drugs, he not only
has a desire for the drug that keeps returning but also requires
higher and higher dose of drug each time. Narcotic drugs
damage the nervous system and have adverse effects on vision,
hearing and the cardiovascular system. Overdoses of Narcotic
drugs can cause death. Drug addicts have poor social relations
and are sometimes responsible for many unlawful activities and
commit crimes to get money for purchasing drugs which are
available at very high prices. The second session of the seminar focused upon the Illicit
Trafficking of drugs. Sh. Rajinder Singh & Awadhesh Kumar ,
Intelligence Officers from Narcotics Control Bureau,
Chandigarh sensitize the participants about the procedure and
precautions to be adopted while dealing with the cases related
to N.D.P.S. Act. The objective of the Seminar was to create awareness among
the police personnel on Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking and
Harmful effects of Drugs in Society and how to overcome from
these social evils as well as made them aware about the
procedure while dealing with the cases related to N.D.P.S. Act.
58. 21.07.2018 One day workshop on the topic of “ The Criminal Law (Amendment)
Ordinance, 2018 “ was organized in Recruit Training Centre, Sector-
26, Chandigarh under the guidance of Shri Sanjay Baniwal, I.P.S.
D.G.P., U.T., Chandigarh in which 107 police officers/officials of the
rank of Inspector, Sub Inspector, Assistant Sub Inspector , Head
Constable and Constable of Chandigarh Police have participated.
Shri Atul Sehti, Deputy District Attorney (Legal) of Chandigarh
Police delivered lecture to the participants and made them aware
about the Criminal Law (Amendment) Ordinance, 2018 vide which
various sections of Indian Penal Code , Indian Evidence Act , Criminal
Procedure Code and The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences
Act, 2012 have amended. The above workshop will be helpful for
better implementation of amended provisions of new law and enhance
the investigation skills of the participants, so they do investigation as
per amended provisions.
The main objective of this workshop is to sensitize the police
personnel regarding the Criminal Law (Amendment) Ordinance, 2018.

A two days Workshop on Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act,
Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act-2012, Juvenile
Justice Act, 2015 and other issues/amendments in law relating to
women was organized on 08.09.2018 to 09.09.2018 in Recruit Training
Centre, Sector-26, Chandigarh under the guidance of Sh. Sanjay
Baniwal, IPS, DGP, UT, Chandigarh in which 75 police officers of the
rank of Inspector, Sub Inspector and Assistant Sub Inspectors of
Chandigarh Police have participated.
On the first day of workshop i.e. on 08.09.2018, Shri
Jagmohan Singh, Dy. District Attorney from the District Court,
Chandigarh sensitize the police personnel about the Protection of
Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2015 and told that child sexual
abuse has been problem in across the world, India is no exception. Sh.
Rajinder Singh, District Attorney from the District Court, Chandigarh
delivered the lecture in detail on the Basic concepts, Law &
Procedures, effective implementation of Immoral Human Trafficking
Prevention Act.
Today, i.e. on 09.09.2018 lectures delivered elaborately on
issue / amendments in law relating to women and on Domestic Violence
Act, 2005 by Sh. Atul Sethi, Dy. District Attorney (Legal) of
Chandigarh Police. In the 2nd half of the day Ms. Anjitha Chepyala,
Dy.S.P./W & CSU Chandigarh Police spoke on the topics such as basic
concepts, role of police in implementation of Juvenile Justice Act,
2015.
The main objective to conduct this workshop is to enhance and
refresh the knowledge of police officers and other investigating
officer of Chandigarh Police for efficient working and proper
implementation of law in the City Beautiful.
62. 17.09.2018 Chandigarh Police Cricket Team won „Steelbird Premium League
Tournament-2018
Chandigarh Police Cricket Team participated in Cricket
Tournament „Steelbird Premium League-2018‟ and emerged as
winner of this cup under the captainship of DySP, Sh. Rajeev
Kumar Ambasta. This prestigious Corporate Cricket Tournament was
organized from 4 August 2018 to 16.9.2018 in which total 16 corporate
teams had participated. The final match was played between
Chandigarh Police and Technocrates (SPL) at the grounds of Delhi
World Public School, Dhakoli, Zirakpur (PB) on 16.09.2018. Chandigarh
Police Cricket Team won the tournament and felicitated with a
Trophy and cash prize of Rs. 25,000/-. Chandigarh Police Cricket
Team has donated the whole cash Reward of Rs. 25,000/- to the
Red Cross Society, Old Age Home, Sector 15, Panchkula (HR) for
the welfare of the Senior Citizens.

Chandigarh Police Cricket Team won the toss and decided to bat first.
Chandigarh Police scored total 96 runs in 20 over‟s with the best
contribution of Ramandeep-25 runs, Balwinder Jr-18 and Basant 15
runs in first inning. From the batting side of Technocrates (SPL) Rohit
and Abhay made 19 runs each and Sumit Hooda contributed 16 runs
for his team. With the impressive efforts by bowlers of Chandigarh

65. 01.11.2018 52nd RAISING DAY OF CHANDIGARH POLICE
Chandigarh Police was raised after the declaration of
Chandigarh as Union territory on 1st November, 1966. The first Chief
of Chandigarh Police was Sh. V.K. Kalia, SSP. The post of IGP was
created in the year 1981 and 18 Inspector General‟s of Police have
been appointed till date. Presently, Sh. Sanjay Baniwal, IPS is the
Director General of Police. Today the number of police personnel in
Chandigarh police has reached more than 6000 to maintain security,
law & orders and traffic arrangements in the city.
This year also, Chandigarh Police is celebrating “Chandigarh
Police Week-2018” from 1st November, 2018 to 7th November, 2018,
which has become an annual feature. The basic objective of Police
Week is to build a close bonding with the members of the public and
to form stronger partnerships between Police and the communities
they serve. The Police week is being organized to build public interest,
support and to reduce the gap between the Police and public. During
the Chandigarh Police Week, celebrations will definitely bring
community, people, citizen forums, students closer to Police and to
build up the desired trust and rapport as required. Chandigarh Police
has been continuously striving to keep the city safe & secure. Various
units of Chandigarh Police like District Police, PCR, Operation Cell,
Security Wing, Traffic Police keep working round the clock to provide
best policing services to the citizens.
To mark this occasion, today, a parade was organized in Police
Lines, Sector 26, Chandigarh. Hon‟ble Governor of Punjab &

Citizens and Women. Traffic management and traffic law enforcement
now has become identity of Chandigarh Police. Hon‟ble Chief Guest

Hon‟ble Chief Guest highlighted important initiatives started by
Chandigarh Police. Chandigarh Police initiated first automated
manpower placement software in country. Special training programme
for school teachers to equip them with necessary skills to identify
early stages of drug addiction and risky behavior in students has been
started by Chandigarh Police which is an appreciable step. To handle
cyber related crime more effectively a state of the art cyber
directorate will be established soon in Chandigarh. Tricity co-
ordination is necessary for crime control. Chandigarh Police has been
successful in controlling law and order situation, traffic management
and crime control in the city. At last Hon‟ble Governor of Punjab &
Administrator praised and gave compliments to all officers of
Chandigarh Police for their best parade.
66. 13.11.2018 Awareness Programme on “Kidney Failure & Organ Donation for
police personnel
On 13.11.2018 an awareness programme on “Kidney Failure & Organ
Donation“was organized in Recruit Training Centre, Sector-26,
Chandigarh under the guidance of Shri Sanjay Baniwal, I.P.S.
D.G.P., U.T., Chandigarh in collaboration with Chandigarh Kidney
Foundation NGO, in which 120 police officers/officials of the rank of
Inspector, Sub Inspector, Assistant Sub Inspector, Head Constable
and Constable of Chandigarh Police have participated.
Dr. Priyadarshi Ranjan, MS (Sugery), MCH (Urology),
consultant and Head of the Department, Kidney, Fortis Hospital,
Mohali delivered lecture to the participants and made them aware
about the kidney related diseases and precautions to avoid kidney
failure. He also informed about Brain death & cadaver donation in case
of any mishaps/accident. Since, police is the first to respondent in
such scenarios. Dr. Ranjan also emphasized on importance of organ
donation in India and motivated to the participants and pledged them
to donate organs in case of any accidental death.
The main objective of this workshop was to sensitize the
police personnel regarding prevention from kidney disease and
donation of organs.

Computer Based Test (CBT) for recruitment of 520 constables was
held from 15th to 17th, November, 2018
Chandigarh Police condcted Computer Based Test (CBT) for
recruitment of 520 constables from 15th to 17th, November, 2018 for
36226 candidates, who were shortlisted in Physical Efficiency
Measurement Test (PE&MT) that was conducted in 2017.

On 19.11.2018, a training programme on the topic of “
Sensitization of Police Personnel on Animal Laws (The Prevention of
Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960)” was organized in Recruit Training
Centre, Sector-26, Chandigarh in collaboration with Society of
Prevention of Cruelty on Animals under the guidance of Sh. Sanjay
Benwal, I.P.S., D.G.P., U.T., Chandigarh in which 125 Police
officers/officials (Sub Inspectors, Assistant Sub Inspectors, Head
Constables and Constables) of Chandigarh Police have participated.
Dr. Baljeet Singh, M.Vsc., Veterinary Officer from Animal Husbandry
Department, Chandigarh, delivered the lecture and interacted with
the participants on the reduction of human-animal conflict and
sensitization to animal cruelty. This included issues like overloading of
horse carts, overworking donkeys, abandonment and abuse to domestic
animals. He further discussed how the Police can support animal
welfare officers appointed by the Animal Welfare Board of India. In
addition to that Police officers are also sensitized about the
implementation of various Sections of The Prevention of Cruelty to
Animals Act, 1960.
The main objective of this training programme was to sensitize the
Police officers/officials to prevent the cruelty on animals.
69. 18.12.2018 Passing Out Parade of the 18th & 19th batch of 61 recruit
constables
On 18th December, 2018, the Passing Out Parade of the 18th & 19th
batch of 61 recruit constables (48 Males, 13 Females) was held at the
Parade grounds, Police lines, Sector-26, Chandigarh. Sh. Sanjay
Baniwal, IPS, Director General of Police, U.T. Chandigarh took the
salute.
Ms. Nilambari Jagadale, IPS, SSP-UT & Training, Chandigarh
welcomed Worthy Director General of Police, U.T., Chandigarh and
presented a report about the training of recruits. SSP/UT stated
that these constables were provided adequate exposure in the fields
of Criminal law, Medical Jurisprudence, VIP Security, Human Rights,
etc. They have also been imparted training in Mob Control, Weapon
handling, Yoga, P.T. and Parade. Special workshops on topics like Cyber
Crime, Bank Frauds and Gender sensitization, etc. were also held. Sh.
Satish Kumar, DANIPS, Dy.S.P/Lines and Principal, Recruit Training
Centre, Chandigarh, administered oath to these young recruits. After
passing out, these recruits will undergo a commando training course.

in his official address appreciated the hard work put in by these
recruits during their training and given best wishes to the newly
recruited constables in Chandigarh Police.

70. 27.12.2018 Chandigarh Police Equestrian Team won five medals at National
Level Championship
Chandigarh Police Equestrian Team consisting of 15 members
participated in EFIRFL and National Equestrian Championship-2018
and Horse Show held from 8-16 December, 2018 at Equidrome,
Geetanand Ashram, Gurugram (HR). Vol. Bhagwan Singh got gold
medals in events LEMON & PEG and RING & PEG. HC Desraj got silver
medal in RING & PEG event. HC Sahib Singh got silver medal in
LEMON & PEG and also got bronze medal in RING & PEG event. Total 5
medals (two gold, two silver & one bronze) were grabbed by the

74. 01.02.2019 Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign - SLAC
Anti Leprosy Day is being celebrated as Sparsh Leprosy
Awareness Campaign - SLAC during fortnight beginning from
30th Nov Jan to till 13 Feb 2019 under programme by
Department of Health and family welfare ministry of Health,
Govt. of India. The different activities and awareness
programme about leprosy will be held under this programme. In continuation of these SLAC activities during the
fortnight a lecture demonstration was organized by Dr.
Pushpinder Mangat, SMO at Police Hospital, Sector 26,
Chandigarh, today. An interesting talk on leprosy was given by
Dr. Manjit Pal, Skin Specialist, GMSH-16 to cover the basic
courses, reasons for spread and methodologies to prevent the
outbreak of the disease. Various posters and banners were used
to spread awareness on leprosy. The populace was encouraged to
treat patients with compassion and to adopt proper intervention
to facilitate its eradication. The camp was attended by
approximately 225 police personnel and their families.
75. 02.02.2019 Felicitation And Scholarship Function for Police Wards On 02.02.2019, a Felicitation And Scholarship Function was held
in Police Lines Sec-26 Chandigarh. In this function 170 wards of
Chandigarh Police employees have been honoured by Shri Sanjay
Baniwal, IPS, Director General of Police, UT Chandigarh. These
wards have secured excellent positions (more than 85%) in the
academic (standard 6th to 12th). The DIGP, UT Chandigarh, SSP (Security & Traffic) and SSP,
UT Chandigarh also appreciated these students and
congratulate for their greater success in future. The function was witnessed by family members of Chandigarh
Police employees followed by high tea.
76. 06.02.2019 Chandigarh Police Athletic Team won five medals at Senior
State Athletic Meet
Chandigarh Police Athletic team members participated in
Senior State Athletic Meet held between 18 to 20 January,
2019 at Sports Club, Sector 7, Chandigarh. Chandigarh Police
team members won total five medals in this competition under

78. 13.03.2019 Head Constable Joginder Pal Singh of Chandigarh Police won two
gold & one silver medal in National Level Competition
Head Constable Joginder Pal Singh Belt No. 57/CP of Chandigarh
Police brought laurel to the department by winning two gold & one
silver medal in 2nd National Master Games held at Dehradun, (UK)
between 24 feb to 27 feb 2019. He won two gold medals in 4x400
meter relay race and 3000 stipple chase race respectively. He also

Police
A special session for Police personnel of Chandigarh Police on Art of
Living was conducted by H.H. Sri Ravi Shankar at Multi-purpose Hall,
Police Lines, Sector-26, Chandigarh from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on
15.03.2019. From this special session of stress free policing, Police
personnel of Chandigarh Police benefited on how to get rid of their
work related stress and also help to improve their life style, which will
also accelerate the performance of their duties. MoU between
Chandigarh police and Guruji's Art of Living foundation was be signed.
2500 police personnel shall be trained in stress free policing over a
period of next one year.
80. 18.03.2019 Head Constable Dilbag Singh of Chandigarh Police won one gold &
two silver medals in National Level Competition
Head Constable Dilbag Singh Belt No. 2626/CP of Chandigarh Police
brought laurel to the department by winning one gold & two silver
medals in 2nd National Master Games held at Dehradun, (UK) between
24th February to 2nd March, 2019. He won one gold in 400m Free Style
& two silver medals in 200m Breast Stroke and 100m free style

83. 23.04.2019 Workshop for sensitized police staff about HIV/AIDS/STIs
On 23rd April, 2019, One (01) day workshop for police staff
for Developing Collaborate Mechanism between Law Enforcement
Agencies and Chandigarh SACS, U.T. Chandigarh regarding sensitized
police staff about HIV/AIDS/STIs alongwith sensitization on the
issues like repeal and decriminalization of Section 377 IPC and others
related HRGs including sex worker, drug users was organized in two
shifts i.e. 10.00AM to 12.30 Noon and 02.30PM to 05.00PM at Multi
Media Centre, Recruitment Training Centre, Sector-26, Chandigarh.
Sh. Daleep Rattan, DSP, Recruitment & Training UT,
Chandigarh welcomed the Chief Guest Sh. Mahavir Singh, Members
Secretary-cum-Judge State Legal Services Authority, UT Chandigarh
and presented a report on the issue. He stated that this workshop is
being organized about the awareness of HIV/AIDS/STIs alongwith
sensitization on the issues like repeal and decriminalization of Section
377 IPC, approx. 100 police officers/officials took part in the said
event in two shifts (50+50). Dr. Jitender Dahiya, Deputy Director,
CSASC, also addressed the audience about basic of HIV Aids and
practical issues being faced by LGBT Community, sex worker and
others HRGs.
84. 27.04.2019 HEALTHY CHILDREN COMPETITION - 2019
On 27.04.2019, 2nd Healthy Children Competition – 2019 was
organized in Police Hospital, Police Lines, Sector 26, Chandigarh. It
was presided by Mrs. Arpana Baniwal, President Chandigarh Police
Family Welfare Society. Healthy Children Competition was held in 4
categories i.e. 1-2, 2-5, 5-8 and 8-12 years. They jury comprised of
Mrs. Arpana Baniwal, President, Chandigarh Police Family Welfare
Society, Mrs. Vasundra Anand, Mrs. Najuk Kumar, IAS, Mrs. Madhuri
Mahajan. A play and dance was presented by Govt. Model School,
Sector 26, Chandigarh on this occasion. Three prizes were given in
each category with participation prizes to all. 117 children with
parents participated in the Healthy Children Show.

86. 30.05.2019 Recruitment of 520 Constables in Chandigarh Police which was on-
going since 2015 is over after joining of constables.
Today, Chandigarh Police called candidates who were declared
medically fit and their verification were reported in order. Out of
which, 358 candidates (201 female & 157 Male) joined the Chandigarh
Police. Remaining candidates will be called in due course after receipt
of their verification from the concerned police station.
After final joining of eligible candidates of 520 vacancies, they will be
sent for Basic Recruit Training at Phillaure and Jahan Khelan in the
2nd week of June 2019. Presently, all the candidates have been
accommodated in Police Lines, Sector-26, Chandigarh and IRB
Complex, Sarangpur

88. 21.06.2019 International Yoga Day celebrated in Police Lines
To mark International Yoga Day celebrations which is being
organized in by more than 190 countries, Chandigarh Police also
celebrated the Yoga Day. In spite of pre-occupation in law and
order and other duties in the city, a Yoga program was organized
in Police Lines Sector 26, Chandigarh and also at Police Hospital,
Sector-26 in which total about 500 police personnel‟s along with
their family members & civilians participated.
Mrs. Arpana Baniwal, President of Chandigarh Police Family
Welfare Society, UT, Chandigarh Presided and participated in Yoga
event at Police Hospital, Sector-26, Chandigarh. Dr. Pushpinder
Mangat, SMO, Police Hospital organized this whole event for the
families of Police personnels.
Sh. Vineet Kumar, IPS Superintendent of Police,
Headquarters Chandigarh, DSPs, Inspectors and other ranks of
Chandigarh Police participated in Yoga event at Police Lines, Sector
26, Chandigarh. The officers and Jawans of Chandigarh Police did
Yoga under the guidance of Mr. Umesh Kumar, Instructor for
Yoga with the help of Ms. Pinky & Mr. Randhir, Yoga Instructors. The
duration of this event was 35 minutes in which different “Yoga Asana”
were done by following protocol by Ministry of Ayush.
Speaking on this occasion, SP/Headquarters said, Yoga is
useful for physical health as well as for mental health and police
personnel‟s who are performing duty for long hours should adopt
Yoga in their daily activities. He also informed the gathering that
Chandigarh Police has already running Yoga Centre in Police Lines,
Police personnel‟s and their families should avail the benefit of
this facility for their continuous mental and physical fitness. He
lauded the arrangements made by DSP/Lines, RI Lines and Lines
officer, Police Lines, Sector-26 SP/Headquarters said that such Yoga
Camps will be organized in future to motivate the Police personnels
and their families for their continuous physical and mental fitness.
89. 26.06.2019 International day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking
celebrated by Chandigarh Police 26th June is observed as "International day against drug abuse
and illicit trafficking". It was celebrated by Chandigarh police
in collaboration with NCB (Narcotics Control Bureau) at Sukhna
Lake Chd in which around 300 people participated including
children who are associated with the Urja project of
Chandigarh Police. The children are from vulnerable sections of
society and are being mentored through the Urja project to
stay away from vices and be good citizens. During the event, a nukkar natak was presented by the
school children on drug abuse and rehabilitation.A lecture was
given by DDG Narcotics Bureau, Shri S. K. Jha, IPS on the
present scenario of drug abuse and various plans being
undertaken by NCB and Chd police. Some of the children shared
their experiences with experimenting with drugs and also how
they quit this habit to lead a better life. All the participants
took a pledge to stay away from drugs and adhere to this years
theme "Health for Justice ,Justice for Health". A rally was
also taken out from Sukhna lake to rock garden in which
placards and banners were displayed to create awareness among
people. The rally comprised of Chandigarh Police, NCB, Urja
project children and paramilitary forces posted in Chandigarh. During the day drug awareness pamphlets were
distributed throughout Chd by all police stations to aware
people about the ill effects of drugs. Local beat staff is also
interacting with the public to spread awareness against the
drug menace. Screening of movies showing drugs addicts and
their rehabilitation were screened At Nehru park Sec 22 and
Ram darbar in the evening.
90. 26.06.2019 International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking
celebrated at Police Hospital Sec 26 26 June 2019 "International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit
Trafficking" was celebrated at Police Hospital Sec 26, in
collaboration with Department of Psychiatry GMCH, Sec
32, Chandigarh. Activity was presided over by W/DIG (U.T) Mr.
O.P Mishra. Activity included a streetplay, signature campaign
and awareness lecture for Police personals and civil population
of nearby area. Total 120 persons attended the activity.
91. 28.06.2019 Welfare function for retirees organized at Police Line
A welfare function organized at GO‟s Mess, Police Lines, Sector
26, Chandigarh to honor the police personnel who retired from
police services after attaining the age of superannuation. Sh.
Sanjay Baniwal, IPS, Director General of Police, UT, Chandigarh
along with Dr. O.P Mishra, IPS, DIG/UT and other Senior Police
Officers were present at the Function. The police
officers who retired after attaining the age of
superannuation are Sh. Ashwani Kumar (Insp. ORP), Sh. Malook
Singh (Insp. ORP), Sh. Telu Ram (Insp. ORP), Sh. Jogi Ram (SI),
Sh. Harbans Singh (SI, ORP), Sh. Pargat Singh (ASI, ORP), Sh.
Baljit Singh (ASI, ORP), Sh. Ram Bhai (HC, ORP), Smt. Vidya
Devi (Ward Servant). The families of retired police officers
were also invited on this occasion as a Guest of Honor. All the

92. 28.06.2019 Special training sessions of stress relief program to Police
Personnel Chandigarh Police undertook a unique initiative of
welfare of Police Personnel to provide them special training
sessions of stress relief program through Vyaktivikas Kendra
India, (Art of Living). Earlier, a special session on Art of Living
was organized at Multi-purpose Hall, Police Lines, Sector-26,
Chandigarh which was conducted by H.H. Sri Ravi Shankar on
15.03.2019. A Memorandum of Undertaking was executed on
15.03.2019 between Chandigarh Police and Vyaktivikas Kendra
India, Art of Living International Campus, Bangalore to provide
free sessions of Stress Relief and Wellness Focused Training
Programs. In this series, three days workshop of Stress Relief and
Wellness Focused Training Program for Chandigarh Police
Personnel now has been started at Multi-Media Centre, Recruit
Training Centre, Sector-26, Chandigarh, today. The Training
Program will be of 20 sessions to accommodate approximately
2500 police personnel and conducting timing will be 6 AM to 11
AM. The schedule of this programme has been proposed to be
conducted three days in a week till 13.10.2019. Sh. Daleep Rattan, DSP-Lines & Training, UT, Chandigarh
welcomed Sh. Umesh Ghai and members of Vyaktivikas Kendra
India at Multi-Media Centre, Recruit Training Centre, Sector-
26, Chandigarh for conducting the workshops for the welfare of
Chandigarh Police personnel. Today, 120 Police officers/officials
took part in the said workshop. Sh. Umesh Ghai addressed the
audience on Stress Relief and wellness. The motivational speech
was given during the session. Meditation is an excellent way to
beat workplace stress. The breathing techniques, mind control
exercises, Yoga and transcendental meditation (silent
mantra meditation) were taught during the session. These
techniques will help to overcome stress, depression and violent
tendencies. The tips given to become stress free at workplace are: 1. Plan and prioritize the work 2. Repose, relax and rejuvenate 3. Customize your diet plan 4. Include Yoga / exercise into your routine 5. Avoid procrastination 6. Maintain work-life balance 7. Keep good company
From this special session of stress free policing, Police
personnel of Chandigarh Police will be benefited to get rid of
the work related stress and also helpful to improve their life
style, which will be helpful in accelerating the performance in
their duties. Ms. Nilambari Jagadale, IPS, SSP/Chandigarh opined
that these sessions will help the police personnel in following
ways:- To deal with work related stress
To be able to take on life‟s challenges in confident
manner.
To motivate police officials to do their work with values
like compassion & empathy.
93. 31.07.2019 Welfare Function For Retirees
Today, a welfare function organized at GO‟s Mess, Police Lines,
Sector 26, Chandigarh to honor the police personnel who retired from
police services after attaining the age of superannuation. Sh. Omvir
Singh Bishnoi, IPS, DIG/UT, Sh. Vineet Kumar, IPS, SP/Crime, EOW,
Intelligence & Hqrs and other Senior Police Officers were present at
the Function. The police officers who retired after attaining the age
of superannuation are Sh. Parminder Singh (Insp. ORP), Sh.
Lakhwinder Singh (Insp. ORP), Sh. Hardeep Singh (Insp. ORP), Sh.
Tehal Singh (Insp. ORP), Sh. Hari Har Singh (SI, ORP), Smt. Usha
Kumari (ASI, ORP), Sh. Gurinderjit Singh (ASI, ORP), Sh. Jagjiwan
Singh (ASI, ORP), Sh. Ram Saran (ASI, ORP), Smt. Nazma (ASI, ORP),
Smt. Darshana Devi (ASI, ORP). The families of retired police

certificates. 94. 03.08.2019 World Breast Feeding Week celebrated
World Breast Feeding Week-2019 was celebrated at Police Hospital,
Sec.26, Chandigarh on 03.08.2019. This initiative was taken by Dr.
Pushpinder Mangat, SMO Police Hospital-26, Chandigarh to impart
complete knowledge about Nutritional diet and importance of Breast
Feeding to pregnant and lactating mothers of Chandigarh Police
families and nearby areas. It was presided over by Mrs. Nilambari
Jagdale, SSP/U.T., Chandigarh. Tree plantation was also done by the
Chief Guest to provide healthy environment for next generation.
Interactive lectures on benefits of Breast Feeding
were delivered by Dr. Bhavneet Bhati, Professor Division of Social
Pediatrics, Advanced Pediatrics Centre, PGIMER, Chandigarh and
Nutrition in pregnant and lactating mothers was taken by Dr. Kavita
Chavan, MO Gynae and Dr. Jaya J. Batish, MO of Police Hospital.
The camp was attended by all Medical Officers, Para
Medical Staff and approximately 76 police personnel and families of
nearby areas. Hemoglobin testing was also conducted. Momentos were
presented to the Guest Speaker and Chief Guest. Prizes and
nutritional fruits packets were distributed to all the pregnant ladies
and lactating mothers 95. 05.09.2019 Mass Promotion Pinning Ceremony of Chandigarh Police
A mass promotion pinning ceremony of Chandigarh Police was organized
at Multipurpose Hall, Police Line, Sector 26, Chandigarh to put
epaulettes (insignia) on the shoulder of the promoted police personnel.
The department has granted local rank to police personnel of the
Chandigarh Police after completion of 16, 24, 30 years of service, as a
welfare measure. The Details of promotion are as under:-

present as Guest of Honour. Sh. Sanjay Baniwal, IPS, Director General
of Police, Sh. Ombir Singh Bishnoi, IPS, DIG/UT, Sh. Shashank Anand,
IPS, SSP/Sec & Traffic, Ms. Nilambari Jagdale, IPS, SSP/UT and
other Senior Officers of Chandigarh Police were also present during
the ceremony. The promoted police officers have expressed their
gratitude to the officers of Chandigarh Administration.
The promotion were given to eligible police personnel on the
pattern of Punjab Police to boost their morale and efficiency to
perform their duties with more vigor, utmost dedication and honesty
after getting approval of Chandigarh Administration as welfare
measure. The function was organized with pride and enthusiasm among
different ranks as promotions to police personnel were given at mass
level.
96. 06.09.2019 Rashtriya Poshan Maah (1st - 30th September, 2019) was
celebrated at Police Hospital
Rashtriya Poshan Maah (1st - 30th September, 2019) was celebrated
at Police Hospital, Sec.26, Chandigarh on 05.09.2019. This initiative
was taken by Dr. Pushpinder Mangat, SMO, I/C Police Hospital-26,
Chandigarh. It was presided over by Mrs. Arpana Baniwal, President,
Chandigarh Police Family Welfare Society, UT., Chandigarh and
attended by Sh. Shashank Anand, IPS, SSP/Security & Traffic, UT.,
Chandigarh. Interactive lectures were delivered on the topics of
Anaemia and Pregnancy by Dr. Kavita Chavan, M.O. (Gynecologist),
Diarrhea control by Dr. Brij Lal, M.O., Diet and Nutrition by Dietician
from GMCH-32, Chandigarh and Poshtik Aahar by Dr. Amandeep
Dholewal, M.O. (Ayurveda) Hand Wash Demonstration was also
conducted.
An informative and entertaining Poem Recitation and Fancy Dress
competition was performed by children of Govt. Model High School,
Sector-26, Chandigarh on nutritional diet.
Hemoglobin of 49 patients was checked out of which 24 were found to
be anemic.

were honored with momentums and certificates. 99. 01.10.2019 World Heart Day celebrated at Police Hospital
“World Heart Day” was celebrated in Police Hospital, Sec.26,
Chandigarh on 01.10.2019. This initiative was undertaken under the
able guidance of Dr. Pushpinder Mangat, SMO Police Hospital-26,
Chandigarh. It was presided over by Sh. Manoj Kumar, IPS,
Superintendent of Police/Hqrs., Chandigarh. A Health Talk was
delivered by Dr. Puneet K. Verma, Director & Chief Interventional
Cardiologist. Basic Life Support (BLS) training workshop was done.
Investigation for ECG, Fasting Sugar Nerve conducted were carried
out. Dr. Brij Lal and Dr. Jaya J. Batish MOs educated audience on
healthy life style. The camp was attended by Police Personnel
suffering from Hypertension, Diabetes, Mellitus and Dyslipdemia,
Medical Officers, Para Medical Staff of Police Hospital and families
of nearby areas. 40 Police Personnel from PCR also attended that camp
and got trained for Basic Life Support. Momentos were presented by
the Chief Guest, Sh. Manoj Kumar, IPS, Superintendent of
Police/Hqrs. to Dr. Puneet K. Verma, Director & Chief Interventional
Cardiologist and his team Certificates of Basic Life Support Training
were also distributed.
100. 02.10.2019 Shram Daan under „Swatchta Abhiyaan‟ organized by Chandigarh
Police
Today, on the occasion of 150th Anniversary of Mahatama
Gandhi Ji, a special cleanliness drive was carried out at EWS Colony,
Dhanas, Chandigarh under „Swatchta Abhiyaan‟. The programme was
organized by the Chandigarh Police in partnership with SPYM. The
cleanliness drive was carried out by above 400 participants of URJA, a
project being implemented by Chandigarh Police and SPYM to prevent
substance abuse among children in Chandigarh. Sh. Sanjay Baniwal,
IPS, Director General of Police, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest on
the occasion. The programme was also attended by SSP/UT Ms.
Nilambari Jagdale, IPS, and SP City Sh. Vineet Kumar, IPS.
In the special cleanliness drive, Anganwari Centers and Public
Parks in Dhanas areas were cleaned by the students of URJA project.
Wall painting containing messages prevention of substance use was
also organized. DGP, Chandigarh UT also participated in wall painting
along with children of the project. Purpose of wall painting was to
beautify the area and also to convey the meaningful messages to the
community members regarding prevention of substance use.
After the special drive an interactive function was organized
with the children in the community. SSP, UT welcomed all the
participants and highlighted the importance of cleanliness in our day
today life. During the function, participants of URJA programme
shared their experiences and lessons learnt from the program through
skills, dance and speeches. It was informed that, as part of this
initiative around 800 vulnerable children in the age group of 8-16
years from Dhanas, Ramdarbar and Bapudham Colony have completed
the life of skills education program in last 9 months. The programme
has been carried out within these vulnerable pockets of Chandigarh
with the assistance of SPYM an NGO working in the area of health &
development for last 30 years. This effort has been acknowledged and
Chandigarh Police has been awarded with Kalam innovation award.
After the Shram Daan, nearly 500 saplings were distributed
among the participants with an aim of help them understand
importance of clean & green environment and nutrition. The saplings
consisted of various medicinal plants of 7 varieties, which are easy to
maintain at home.
DGP/UT in his address to the participants spoke about the
significance of the occasion and the importance of cleanliness in our
lives. He also said that such cleanliness drives would be carried out
every week in URJA programme. DGP also stressed on the resolve to
not use single use plastic anymore and also asked the children to
spread awareness about the ban on plastic at home.
101. 10.10.2019 World Mental Health Day celeberated at Police Hospital
“World Mental Health Day” was celebrated in Police Hospital, Sec.26,
Chandigarh on 10.10.2019. It was presided over by Dr. Pushpinder
Mangat, SMO Police Hospital-26, Chandigarh and Sh. Daleep Rattan,
DSP/Lines, Sec.26, Chandigarh. Interactive lecture was delivered by
Dr. Shakhsi Gupta, Senior Resident, MD Psychiatry, GMSH-32,
Chandigarh. Theme of the day was Suicide Prevention. A short
movie/radio talk and debate competition was conducted among school
children. Prizes were distributed by Sh. Daleep Rattan, DSP/Lines,
Sec.26, Chandigarh to best speakers and answers among audience.
102. 14.11.2019 53rd RAISING DAY PARADE OF CHANDIGARH POLICE
Chandigarh Police was raised after the declaration of
Chandigarh as Union territory on 1st November, 1966. The first Chief
of Chandigarh Police was Sh. V.K. Kalia, SSP. The post of IGP was
created in the year 1981 and 18 Inspector General‟s of Police have
been appointed till date. Presently, Sh. Sanjay Baniwal, IPS is the
Director General of Police. Today the number of police personnel in
Chandigarh police has reached more than 6000 to maintain security,
law & orders and traffic arrangements in the city.
This year also, Chandigarh Police is celebrating “Chandigarh
Police Week-2019” from 12th November, 2019 to 18th November,
2019, which has become an annual feature. The basic objective of
Police Week is to build a close bonding with the members of the public
and to form stronger partnerships between Police and the
communities they serve. The Police week is being organized to build
public interest, support and to reduce the gap between the Police and
public. During the Chandigarh Police Week, celebrations will definitely
bring community, people, citizen forums, students closer to Police and
to build up the desired trust and rapport as required. Various units of
Chandigarh Police like District Police, PCR, Operation Cell, Security
Wing, Traffic Police keep working round the clock to provide best
policing services to the citizens.
To mark this occasion, today, a parade was organized in RTC
Ground, Police Lines, Sector 26, Chandigarh. Hon‟ble Governor of
Punjab & Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, was
the chief guest on the occasion. Sh. Sanjay Baniwal, IPS, Director

On this occasion, Hon‟ble Governor of Punjab & Administrator, UT,
Chandigarh, Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore appreciated Chandigarh Police and
wished all employees on 53rd Raising Day of Chandigarh Police. Hon‟ble
Chief Guest in his address said, “The name of Chandigarh Police is
counted among the best known police force in country. Chandigarh
Police has been identified as professional, committed, responsible and
accountable police force in these 53 years since 1966”. Chandigarh
Police faces every challenge with great deal of efforts and endurance.
DGP Chandigarh is constantly working with administration to improve
the functioning of Chandigarh Police by procuring modern weapons and
vehicles, initiating various modernization projects.
Hon‟ble Chief Guest highlighted important initiatives started by
Chandigarh Police. This year the ERSS project was inaugurated in
Chandigarh under this all emergency services such as police, ambulance
and firefighters will be available at Single Emergency Number 112,
which will greatly facilitate the citizens to get all emergency services.
Mobile Based Application E-Beat Book System has been launched
under which area of Chandigarh divided into 54 divisions and 113 beats
with 4 police personnel present in beat 24 hours. This will bridge gap
between public and police. Chandigarh Police successfully trained
around 800 youth under PMKVY with a view to channelize power and
mind of youth towards nation building activities and to provide them
chance to earn their livelihood which is an appreciable of efforts of
Chandigarh Police. Chandigarh Police also taken commendable steps to
protect the environment in this way about 1000 plants were planted in
police stations, police lines and other units. Chandigarh Police also
implemented the CCTNS a system to strengthen and improve the
functioning of all the police stations. The performance and efficiency
of Chandigarh Police affects the residents of city most, whether it is
issue of safety of women or traffic management and safety and
security of Senior Citizens.
Hon‟ble Chief Guest appreciated community policing and e-governance
initiatives undertaken by Chandigarh Police. At last Hon‟ble Governor

Today, i.e. on 17.11.2019 valedictory ceremony of workshop for
Stress Relief and Wellness Focused Training Program for Chandigarh
Police officers and officials was organized at Multi Media Centre,
Recruit Training Centre Sector-26, Chandigarh under the guidance of
Shri Sanjay Baniwal, I.P.S., D.G.P., U.T., Chandigarh and under the
supervision of Sh. Manoj Kumar Meena, I.P.S., S.P. HQ & Training. Sh.
Omvir Singh Bishnoi, IPS, DIG/UT, Smt. Nilambari Jagdale, IPS,
SSP/UT, Chandigarh, Sh. Daleep Rattan, CPS, DSP/Lines and Ms. Sita
Devi, CPS, DSP/Trg. have attended this ceremony.
On 15.03.2019 a Memorandum of Undertaking (MOU) was
executed between Chandigarh Police and Vyaktivikas Kendra India, Art
of Living International Campus, 21st KM Kanakpura Road Bangalore to
conduct three days programme on Stress Relief and Wellness Focused
Programme in 20 batches. Total 20 sessions three days programme
have been conducted from 28.06.2019 to 17.11.2019. The said
programme has been attended by the 1700 police officials of
Chandigarh Police. The trainers of the Art of Living Foundation were
Dr. Neha Miglani, Mr. Umesh Ghai, Mr. Yogesh Gaur and Mr. Bharat
Vig, who smoothly conducted these programme.
The objective of the progamme was to offers the
Police officers/ officials with the numerous, self-assessment
kirya/meditation/pranayam and tools that facilitate the elimination of
stress. These tools also foster deep and profound inner peace,
happiness, and well-being for all individuals. The program also include
breathing techniques, meditation, yoga, and practical wisdom for daily
living, have helped the Police officials/officers to completely
transform their lives as it has become more difficult to find the time
and patience to work on personal well being. It is important for
everyone to achieve optimal wellness in order to subdue stress, reduce
the risk of illness and ensure positive interactions. Looking at the
positive feedback of the police personnel, it have been decided that
the course would be extended to further train police personnel in
managing the stress.
