Arrests: Dec. 20 - Justin Edmunds, DUI; Ricky Coachman, DUI, open container, ran stop sign Dec. 23 - Zachery Tyler Pritchett: aggravated assault X 2, obstruction of an officer X 2, crossing the guard line with drugs Woodrow W. Blue, Jr., Chief of Police * * * During the week of De- cember 22nd to December 28th, the Seminole County Sheriff ’s Office responded to the following calls for ser- vice: 2 off-road vehicle com- plaints, 2 wildlife complaints, 3 loud music complaints, 1 report of threats, 1 prowl- er, 1 concern for welfare, 7 theſts, 6 domestics or other disputes, 2 suspicious per- sons, 4 medical calls, 3 ac- cidents, 1 lookout, 5 reports of livestock in the roadway, 1 alarm, and 4 miscellaneous calls. Officers assisted 6 strand- ed motorists and provided 2 escorts. ey conducted 36 traffic stops. One subject was trans- ported to omasville and one was transported to Al- bany per orders of mental health. e school resource of- ficer escorted the basketball teams to Panama City. On December 23rd, Zackary T. Pritchett, age 19, was arrested by Donalson- ville Police Dept and charged with 2 counts of aggravated assault on an officer, 2 counts of obstruction of an officer, possession of controlled sub- stance, and crossing guard line. On December 23rd, Mark Warren Jr., age 53, was arrested and charged with suspended license and failure to maintain lane. On December 23rd, Quandarius R. Jones, age 23, turned himself in on a war- rant for simple battery. On December 23rd, Chevauwn Pollock, age 18, turned himself in on a war- rant for simple battery. On December 26th, John T. Edison, age 43, was arrest- ed by Department of Com- munity Probation on an out- standing warrant for Florida. On December 28th, Ricky D. Coachman, age 50, was arrested and charged with DUI and failure to maintain lane. On December 27th, De- ven K. Johnson, age 27, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for probation viola- tion. He has charges pending for obstruction of an officer. One inmate was picked up from omas County. An average of 32 inmates was housed in jail each day. In addition, the Sheriff ’s Office / E911 Dispatch han- dled 34 calls for Grady EMS, and 1 for the first respond- ers, and made 1 call for EMS mutual aid. ey handled 70 calls for Donalsonville Police Dept, 2 for Donalsonville Fire Dept, 1 for Iron City Fire Dept, 1 for Spring Creek Fire Dept, 3 codes enforcement, 1 for Dept of Natural Resourc- es, 1 for Georgia State Patrol, and 16 for other law enforce- ment or emergency service agencies. e office received a total of 104 calls to 9-1-1 including 28 non-emergency calls. In- dications are that the full-time school will be possible in view of the recent move made by Gov. E. D. Rivers, who arranged for the necessary funds to finance the schools for seven months. It is thought that with state aid thus arranged, the local board will be able to finance the additional two months to give the county a full nine months school. Mr. and Mrs. George Morrow and children of High Springs, Flor- ida, and Mrs. J. H. Armor, of Elba, Alabama were guests of Mrs. L. E. Hay during the holidays. is week at the Olive eatre, e Private Lives of Elizabeth and Essex, starring Bette Davis and Er- rol Flynn. e Board of Commission- ers of Seminole County met in regular session Tuesday, January 1 with Chairman L. R. Robin- son presiding. Commissioners in attendance were D. H. Miller, R. L. Johnson, E. J. Greene, and J. I. Parker, President. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Current bills were inspected and paid when found in regular order. Mr. and Mrs. Percy Ward and son, Mr. Pete Ward, returned to their home in New Orleans, Loui- siana last Friday aſter spending the holidays here as guests of Mrs. J. S. Ward and family. Sunday state papers carried dispatches stating that an appro- priation of $58,000 had been made for street improvements in Donal- sonville which will be done with WPA labor, supplemented by local funds. e work order will prob- ably be sent here in the next few days and city officials believe work will begin immediately thereaſter. Miss Louisa Noyes, instructor in the local schools, returned Sun- day aſter spending the holidays at her home in Atlanta. She was ac- companied by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Noyes, who spent Sun- day night here. Joel McCrea and Brenda Mar- shall star in Espionage Agent showing this Wednesday at the Ol- ive eatre. Miss Elizabeth Williams re- turned Sunday from Forsyth where she was spending the holidays to resume her work as instructor in the school year here. Two men have arrived here to begin work on the Dry Creek Wa- tershed that begins in the lower portion of Early and Miller coun- ties and ends north of Iron City. Kermit Larson and Lawrence Hargen, soil scientists from North Dakota, will be block mapping the area immediately affected by the project, and adjacent land. e two men are assigned to the Soil Con- servation Service in North Dakota but were transferred here to work until the land there thaws in the Spring. Specials this week at Jernigan’s IGA in downtown Donalsonville include a buy one get one free offer on every aisle in the store. e stores of Donalsonville will be open for business as usual on New Year’s Day, but the post of- fice, banks, and government offices will observe the holiday. e coun- ty schools will open on January 4th. Donalsonville and Seminole County had a very quiet, peaceful period during the Christmas holi- days last week. Retired Rear Admiral J. Taylor omas, Supreme Commodore of the Seminole Boating Club, re- minds all members of that fleet of the annual New Year’s Eve Pileau and Stomp to be held at the club- house on ursday evening. End of year specials are hopping off the shelves at Jernigan’s IGA. Come in for a great deal on greens and black eyed peas. Seminole County High School PTA will meet Monday at 8 p.m., in the high school auditorium. e topic, “How Parents Can Help eir Children Study” will be de- veloped by a panel. All parents are urged to attend. e Seminole County High School boys and girls basket- ball teams have begun their aſter Christmas activity with a pair of wins over Calhoun County here Tuesday night. e Squaws eas- ily downed their opposition 62-26. e score indicates the great work done by the Seminole County guards, and in point making, In the boys game, the Indians avenged an earlier loss to the Warhawks by winning 65-55. John Hanna recently congratu- lated David Fain and Alton Har- rison aſter he stepped down as president of the Commercial State Bank. Fain is the new president of the bank, and Harrison has ad- vanced to vice president and chief lending officer. County commissioner Dan Pon- der was recently sworn in for a sec- ond term for district two. Probate Judge J.E. Earnest administered the oath and that means Ponder will have the office another four years. Other members of the commission are Rob Blackburn of district one; Donald Moore of district three and Joe Burke of district five. Eddie Alday recently received the oath of office from Probate Judge J.E. Earnest, and is now a member of the county board of education to serve for the next four years as a representative of district five. Bainbridge Post No. 4904 of Vet- erans of Foreign Wars gave a beau- tiful American flag to the Spring Creek Volunteer Fire Department. e adult men Sunday School class of Springfield Baptist Church held their Christmas party recently at Old Mill Restaurant and then on to Christmas City at Ariton. ose attending were Bill and Rossie Ad- ams, Chuck and Mary John Gib- son, Carlos and Nell Aguilar, Bob- by and Chloe Holloway, Bill and Cindy McKellar and Vinson and Janice Evans. Sheriff Jerry Godby turned into an auctioneer Tuesday and sold several items he and his officers had confiscated in drug cases dur- ing the past year, including three trucks and a canoe with a weed eater engine on it. e Workers Guild Sub Group of the United Methodist Church Women met Monday, January 2. ey gathered in the lovely home of Colleen Miller with Annie Jo barber as co hostess. Chairperson Agnes Moseley gave each mem- ber present a copy of a “wise say- ing.” As Jo Adams, secretary, called the roll, each answered with her saying. is was unique but very inspirational. O’Meara Wurst, treasurer, reported that they had paid their pledges in Fall for 1994. Joanne Drake, co-chairman, hand- ed out the new date books and they filled them out for program lead- ers and hostesses for 1995. She also gave a very inspiring program from their new book, “Cycles of Hope.” ose present were Jo Adams, Annie Jo Barber, Mary Bivings, Addie Brigham, Mildred Drake, Joanne Drake, Colleen Miller, Ag- nes Moseley, Jean Moseley, Nell Rogers, Marguerite White, Euva Williams, Doris Wright, O’Meara Wurst and Christine King.
