Bishop Kirby Until of the Northwest Washington Synod ELCA will join Pointe of Grace at worship on Sunday, Jan. 28, and give the Ministry Moment at the end. He wants to share decisions he has made about Pointe of Grace’s future development. Coffee hour after worship will provide an opportunity for follow-up dialogue with the bishop.

Trinity Lutheran Church—comprised of Trinity-Lynnwood and Pointe of Grace-Mukilteo—affirmed Pointe of Grace’s Letter of Intent to become a stand-alone congregation of the ELCA last Sunday at a special congregation meeting. Trinity’s interim Pastor Red Burchfield forwarded the decision to Bishop Unti, who found time to come immediately to Pointe of Grace to share his plan.

The bishop also has indicated that the Director for Evangelical Mission, Pastor Jerry Buss, will take the lead in guiding Pointe of Grace’s next steps.

DON’T YOU LOVE IT when Rungfa Yanni makes fresh egg rolls for

Saturday and then many more

for the crowd on Sunday

morning. She’s pictured here

The church gets ready to cele-brate Christ’s resurrection during the five-and-a-half weeks (40 days) before Easter that we call Lent. Lent begins Feb. 14 this year (Ash Wednesday). Jesus’ disciples often make intentional commitments to pray, moderate their habits (fast), and serve the poor (give alms) during Lent. We also come together for mutual support through worship, study, sharing, and/or soup suppers.

What would help you grow in your faith during Lent, and when would you like to do it? We are thinking Thursday afternoons and/or evenings, because that is the one free day in our building when we wouldn’t have to kick anyone else out to make room for our activities.

Do you want soup suppers? Holden Evening Prayer? Bible study or another topic? What topic? Taught by a pastor? After-noon sessions or evenings?

Pastor Joan is going to moderate the adult forum next Sunday morning, Feb. 4, at about 11:15 AM, to settle some of our plans. If you can’t come then, please offer your thoughts and sugges-tions via phone (503-804-3384) or email (joan@trinitylutheran church.com). Thank you.

Ready for

spring soul-

cleaning?

Jennie Untener (call committee member, assisting minister in the sound booth, airplane mechanic) writes: “I am working to be a foster parent through the Lutheran Community Services Refugee Fostering Program. I am fairly close to being licensed; I just have a few items left to get before my final home visit. If you happen to have any of the items below and are looking to hand them on, I would love to give them a new home.” List: • 1 bunk bed set, or 2 single

beds (with or without mattresses)

• Twin sheets and bedding • 5 lb. fire extinguisher, rating

2ABC • 3-story fire ladder • Hangers Jennie is thankful that Pointe of Grace and Harbour Pointe Christian Preschool folks have already supplied her with two dressers and some sheets! She can be reached at 612-616-6322 or [email protected].
