Minot Prairie Quilt Guild Board Meeting August 18, 2016

Vincent United Methodist Church The August 18 guild board meeting was called to order by President Bev Cushing. There was a quorum present. Luanne Duchsherer made a motion to accept the minutes. It was seconded by Sheila Latham. Motion carried. Jackie Case, treasurer, reported the balance. Reports: 2016 Raffle Quilt: The quilt is at the Peace Garden Quilt Show this weekend, and tickets are being sold there. 2017 Raffle Quilt: Lacey McCarten reported that the top should be done in September. Pat McDaniel will quilt it. State Fair: A thank you was received from the state fair. Sally M. reported that there were 110 quilts displayed. The challenge by Capital Quilters was which guild had more members who entered a quilt. Minot quilt guild won by one quilter. The state fair sends out letters to quilt guilds in the state and asks for a $50.00 donation to be used for premiums above what the state fair pays. This year they received $550.00. The state fair hires and pays for the judge. There is a fund responsible for meals and lodging for the judge. Sally Mosser and Becky Spies names are on this account. This account is not a part of the Minot Prairie Quilt Guild. Since Kate did not want reimbursement for meals and stayed with friends in Minot, there was no reimbursement this year. In order to receive reimbursement, a judge must present receipts to Sally or Becky. Library: No report Membership: No new report BOM: No report Newsletter: Articles are due this Friday, August 19. Community Service: Carol said that there are many quilt tops that need to be quilted or tied. They plan to select a day in October at VUMC to tie some of these quilts. Lynne H., Sue B., and Marie W. are the cochairs for the 2017 retreat. The theme is “Christmas in August”. Education/Program: Marie Watts will do a demonstration at the meeting.
