Symbiosis: The Genius Of White Fields: Africa

It is intriguing to consider the situations that occur in our world where we find interdependence – both creatures needing each other to survive and thrive. Have you strolled through a forest? Seen the number of mushrooms or toadstools at the base of beautiful, majestic trees? They need each other! The presence of fungi is a blessing to the tree; they provide extra help in get-ting nutrients from the ground, and stopping the trees from drawing in bad things from the soil. The trees provide needed carbon for the fungi. Our Creator is so wise.

Symbiosis is the word used to describe such interdependence. Kouame Ad-joumani and I have shared a symbiotic relationship since 1988. Kouame is a

native of the Ivory Coast, West Africa. His conversion is a very interesting story itself (but best left for another time); Mr. Adjoumani was baptized into Christ after he responded to Reggie Tho-mas message on a town square in 1987. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Kouame’s services as leader of a new church were required. I went to check on him in August of ’88; there, our partnership began. It has resulted in the conversion of well over 3,000 souls, the planting of 30 plus churches, and the establishment of prison ministries. Praise God, he causes the growth.

I have provided training, spiritual direction, encouragement, stability, respectability in the eyes of the African community, and finances. Kouame provides an inside knowledge of the people and culture of the Ivory Coast. He speaks 15 languages and knows how to communicate with tribes throughout western Africa. He lives there, being a source of training and contact to the church leaders. His longevity in service has allowed Restoration Movement principles to begin to take root in African hearts. Together, we discuss situations, plans and strategies to strengthen the churches, believers and to reach more people for Christ. We need each other.

Kouame’s understanding of culture has allowed the work in the Ivory Coast to take large steps forward. One bright example: the first lesson for new Christians there is how to hold a Christian funeral. What? Yes, you read that correctly. You see, the first order of business in an African funeral is to ascertain who cursed the person who died – there is no such thing as “death by natural causes” in their culture. So a witch doctor is hired to discover and point out the culprit. Kouame says that this often causes even bigger problems in the family. In their premier lesson, Christians now learn about death from a Biblical perspective, and further study eternal life from the Bible. This has transformed lives again and again, causing more love and caring in families, eliminating the fear of death, and driving away the fear of evil spirits and witchcraft (voodoo type).

Two partners, African and American – Christian brothers, working to bring in a harvest of souls for our Lord; this kind of symbiosis epitomizes the ministry of White Fields. I’m so glad I’m a part of this great work.

For Jesus’ sake, Tom

News From Around The World URGENT: WHITE FIELDS NOW HAS A MISSION WORK AMONG THE MUSLIMS ONCE AGAIN! WIL-LIAM AND BETH SAWYER FROM NORTH CAROLINA HAVE ACCEPTED THIS MINISTRY. HERE IS THEIR REPORT:

As William and I sit here and consider our friends who would help us out and be completely devoted to this plea, we thought of you. Since May of 2008 William and I took over an internet ministry for White Fields Overseas Evangelism. This ministry contacts newspapers in foreign countries and places advertisements for a FREE English/Bible Course. When we first started, it went off with a bang, but we soon found out we started too quickly without much consideration to anything, but bringing lost souls to Christ through this ministry. We ask for prayer at the beginning, but we did not solidify a strong, consistent PRAYER TEAM. Since the beginning, not only have the students dwindled, but the opportunities to get into News-paper Advertisements have ceased also. We believe and understand that this is a SPIRITUAL BATTLE with Satan. He does not want this ministry to be a success. What we ask is that you would commit to praying for this ministry daily. If you commit, we will send you weekly updates as to where we are trying to place advertisements and the names of the students that we would like for you to pray for. If you would like anymore information concerning this ministry, please feel free to call us or email me and we will an-swer any questions you may have. Time is of the ESSENCE! We need your response as soon as possi-ble. There are lost souls dying and going to hell every day. This is just one way that we can reach those souls.

William and I just finished thanking God for each of you who have already responded to our Prayer Plea! Our team as it stands is extremely strong through God's power and love. Tomorrow we plan to con-tact each of the newspapers below to attempt to place an advertisement. What we ask now is that you each pray that doors will be opened to these newspapers and that advertisements will be allowed and that many lost souls will respond. As soon as the advertisements are placed and emails come in, we will up-date you with names of the people who respond, so that you can pray for them by name.

Again we thank you for your willingness to help us serve God in this ministry,

The men are now trying to help in the church. They are now able to make a vocal prayer in the church. We have now some men musical instrumentalist. One of the men can play a lead guitar and a bass guitar. It is encouraging to hear from some of them making a prayer request for the improvements of the church during our prayer meeting. It was the one who know how to play a bass guitar the makes a prayer request that the church could have a bass guitar.

We also have a transferee now. Sumaylo family are from Jesus is Lord church and now they transferred to our church here.

In 1978 we travelled to Haiti and found 32 children sleeping on the dirt floor of a one room hut! Those children instantly became a part of our family and worked their way into our hearts. Those children have grown & moved away & have lives of their own. But hundreds of other children have come and gone in their place! Each and everyone of those children, with their bright, friendly smiles and all the love they can give, have also became a part of our family

In that first year we decided to take Christmas to these children who didn't have anything. The looks on their faces were price-less! We did it again the next year and the next and the next!

Thirty two years later we are again taking Christmas to the children at the Jesus Loves Me Home. We are asking you to send in a small donation in order for us to provide Christmas for the orphans. We gather the money and take it with us. Christmas at the Jesus loves me home is different than Christmas at most USA homes. We buy much needed utensils, kitchen ware, bedding, shoes, clothes, and a Christmas dinner for the children. It is very hard for us to carry down toys and items from here, so we are no longer able to do that. Please if you can help, we are asking so we can make this Christmas extra special! Please clearly mark on your donation that it is for: JLMH Christmas.

We are also inviting you to go with us on this trip! We already have several that are going: Lacey’s youth group at our home church, Bus York, who will be building more pews and tables, and a group from Milford Mo will once again be going. You are very much needed and wanted! I promise you will be blessed by go-ing to Haiti!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

At the time of printing this newsletter, I received a letter from Sony Jean Pierre. He is one of our older boys at the JLMH. It was a very exciting email. He has finished his schooling and has been given a full scholarship to go to school to become a doctor! He would really like to take this opportunity & of course we would love for him to do this. He needs $3000 for this opportunity. I had to tell him that we do not have the money but that I would appeal for it on his behalf. If God puts this on your heart please contact me! I feel bad asking for more and more but I also want to help these kids get started in their adult life!

Harvest Helpers Needed

By Dr. W. Blythe Robinson White Fields World Outreach Co-ordinator Jesus’ great lesson about the Harvest season from Mt. 9: 35-37 is ur-gently needed today. America currently knows little of Harvest time be-cause we are no longer an agricultural society. However I experienced it first hand while growing up in rural America. In my day as in Jesus’ Har-vest time was one of the greatest events of the year. It marked the end of risky investments and long days of toil and drudgery. It was a critical time because all of the hard work would be in vain if the produce was not har-vested at the right time. I have seen fields heavy laden with ripe produce

that sadly rotted away from neglect because workers were not available. This is what Jesus was talking about in Mt. 9:35 where we read, “Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teachingR and preaching.” In verse 36 it says, “when He saw the multitude, He was moved with compassion on them.” They were the Harvest because He said to His disciples in verse 37 “ The harvest truly is plentiful, but THE LABOURERS ARE FEW;” Right now White Fields is facing the issue of verse 37. We have planted, others have watered (I Cor. 3:6), but the Laborers are few. By God’s grace we have found places where the Gospel is welcomed and countless people are ready to be harvested into the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus. We have opportunities for Evangelism that most people of America can only dream about. Allow me to mention two that are urgent at this time. Next month the darkness of Africa can see the light of Christ as preachers and churches stand ready for one great period of crusades but we lack the preachers for whom they are pleading. When is the last time that you talked to someone about being a Christian and they gladly said “yes” and were thankful for your efforts? It’s not too late to contact us and we will gladly do what we can to help you go. Report From Solonique In Gonaives, Haiti

(SOLONIQUE IS ONE OF THE 14 EVANGELISTS GOING WITH US TO LIBERIA , AFRICA) One of the rare miracles reported by all four gospels is the feeding of the 5000 men. John reports that the five loaves and the two fish belonged to a boy. It is possible the mother of that young boy did not want him to go hungry, so she packed him his meal. Andrew spotted the boy. So when Jesus said to the disciples to feed the crowd, Andrew said to Him there is a boy here who has five loaves and two fish. Very little for a crowd of this size, isn't it? Andrew assumed the boy would be generous and he was. But that does not solve the problem. Knowing so, Andrew stated, "What good is that with all this mob?" (John 6:9, Living Bible). So five loaves and two fish were not short of a joke for a mob like that one. Little, so the disciples might have thought. You know the rest of the story. Therefore hand to Jesus the best "little" you have and stay back and watch you will see wonders.

I arrived in the States for the first time at the end of November, 1997. I started College in the Spring of 1998. Before I even arrived in the States some Churches were already sponsoring my education, None of those Churches would be called big Churches according to men's way of labeling things. Some would have a very good attendance if the had 30 people in attendance. These Churches set aside their dimes and dollars to facilitate the process of my coming to the States for studies. They might have thought their gen-erous act was little. However God took their best "little" and save many souls with it.

Now let see some of the things that God has done with their best "little":

• Several New Churches have been planted in the last few years

• Over a dozen Churches who had already existed have benefited directly from our ministry

• Hundreds of kids are having a quality education next to free or free

• Hundreds of meals are distributed on a daily basis when school is in session

• Several young people are now receiving a College education

• Many people have had their medical bills taken care of

• Hundreds of young people receive a professional training

• Thousands of people receive relatively good care in time of crisis

• Over a hundred people have a reliable job Best Hundreds of people have been coming to the Lord leaving the kingdom of darkness to come to the Kingdom of Light Because these Churches and people gave their best "little" God is making something big out of them. Should we join the song writer and rightly say: "Little is much when God is in it."

Brothers, sisters, whatever the Lord puts in your mind to do or to give, please don't think it is too little. If Andrew said to the boy, "please give me your five loaves and two fish so that Jesus could feed the mob." The boy would look at the mob, then at Andrew and laughed.

In Him, Salonique Adolphe
