SUPERIOR 1:1200 NEVER- WERE CONVERSIONSBob Weymouth has come up with some very interesting

re-armament ideas for Superior never-weres. He makes no bones about some of these ships not being able to handle the extra weight, maintain speed or protection. He just thought they would make for some interesting wargaming and/or to expand your “Fantasy Fleet” collection. He’s done most of these and is happy with the results.

1. Three quad 16” from A134C MAXIMUM BB onto A128 VIRGINIA (MONTANA III)2. Four twin A208 SCHEME III turrets onto A207 CAC giving a 8-12”/55 armament3A. Four triple 16”/50 from A128 VIRGINIA onto A127 GEORGIA (MONTANA II) giving a 12-18”/47 battery3B. Mix two triple 16”/50 from A128 VIRGINIA onto #1 and #4 turret positions giving a 10-18”/47 battery. 4. Four triple 18.1”/45 from J107 YAMATO onto J113 A140/B2 giving a 12-18” Battery5. Four triple 11.1”/54.5 turrets from G207 KREUZER P or G201 GNEISENAU onto G208 KW45 giving a 12- 11.1//54.5 main battery (GNEISENAU in reverse which would give an excellent commerce raider.)6. Four twin 8” from B304 LONDON to B402 BELFAST gives a 1940 British CA design7. Three twin 18”/47 from A127 GEORGIA onto A105 IOWA giving IOWA a six 18”/45 battery8. Four 8” twin mounts from A312 DES MOINES and put on A207 SCHEME 29. Four 12” twin mounts from SCHEME 2 and put on A207 CA-C10. Four 20” twin mounts from A134A and put on A127 GEORGIA…and one more for youHow about the Japanese never-was BB SHINANO? Take the main battery turrets from J107 YAMATO and put them on J109 Super YAMATO. This will give you SHINANO and Hull 111 (supposedly to be named OWARI) with 10cm DP AA batteries and 15.5cm secondaries.

Note: If you wish to try any of above, let us know and we will send the hull with the custom parts bag at no ad-ditional cost. If the ship is not available, we will be glad to backorder it for you and ship when it is available. All Superior never-weres will be made available on a rotating basis. In stock now are A105, A128, A312, J107, G201, G208. Parts are generally in stock.

NEW DESKTOP DISPLAY 1:2400 DIORAMAS

Two new outstanding dioramas have been issued by Desktop. As with the others in the line, they “freeze” a moment in naval history. The ships used are super-detailed 1:2400 GHQ models. Each diorama comes in a display case with an historical write-up of the action shown.

DL05 $244.50 “THE CHANNEL DASH, OPERATION CERBERUS”, FEBRUARY 1942; This six-ship diorama depicts the “dash” up the English Channel from Brest toWilhelmhaven by SCHARNHORST, GENEISENAU and PRINZ EUGEN. Three of the escorting DD’s are also included. Size: 24”x 6” x 4”

DL06 $244.50 “DESTROYERS TURN THE TIDE AT OMAHA” 6 JUNE 1944; This diorama shows the action at Dog Red and Dog White beaches. Only one gap had been blown in the entire section at Omaha leading to the traffi c jam and loss of landing craft. The issue was in doubt until destroyers went in close (despite danger of grounding) using Sherman tank gunfi re as for spotting, carried the day. Size: 11”x 8” x 4”

Desktop’s 1:2400 German CB GNEISENAU as she looked when she participated in “The Channel Dash.” The actual model is 4” long but we have enlarged the photo to accentuate the intricate detail Desktop achieves. Note the rigging

(a la Neptun’s “Spider Navy”), the battlefl ag and the Swastika forward. The turret tops are light blue but look white in the photo. Desktop uses GHQ models which come to you assembled and painted.

This is a diagram showing the area that Desktop’s new DL07 D-Day diorama takes place. It is part of the historical write-up that comes with the diorama.

Desktop’s new 1:2400 diorama DL07 “Destroyers Turn The Tide at Omaha, 6 June 1944;” This shows the action at Dog Red and Dog White areas on Omaha beach when U.S. destroyers came in close to shell German positions.
