Hello Everyone,

I would like to express my deepest thanks to Rhonda Breum, Helene Smith, Candy Brown, Deborah Pitt, Karin Hall, Tina Michel, Carol Butte, Bob Butte, Kenny Rue, Leon Milhon, Larry Laurino, Al Wichser, Al Berry, John Grote, and the many others that cooked, cleaned, polished, shined, setup chairs, served and the vari-ous other tasks to accomplish a very special Opening Day. To the Bridge, Directors, and Super Chicken (John Meyers) - thank you for your parts in the presentation. And thanks to all the members for participating in one of the best days of the year.

This day was themed around the Past, Present and Future membership, the leadership that created the foundation of PMYC in Marina del Rey, a continuously expanding Clubhouse, and bright opportunities for our future. Thank you past Commodores and members alike. We had a terrific turn out from surrounding yacht clubs both locally and from the Southern California Yachting Association. I hope you all enjoyed the day as much as I did.

We are working diligently to complete the 2014 Roster and ID cards in the first half of April. If you have had a name, associate, address, or phone number change in the past year, please ensure we have your updated information not later than April 7th, 2014. Thank you Dennis Pietso for the terrific picture of your boat on the ID Cards.

This past month, Rear Commodore Michael Donovan III, resigned for personal reasons. We wish him the best in his new direction. The Board of Governors filled the vacant elected position with Staff Commodore Kent Andersson. Please welcome and thank Kent for his generous contributions of time and energy to your Club.

Around the Club, we have been working on the chairs and tables. They are being refinished and we are add-ing some cushions to some of them. Peter Bruem has volunteered his time and resources to replace the bar sink and ice troughs. We are also reworking the floor tiles behind the bar to mitigate some leaks that have been seeping into the offices below. Please be patient during this extra level of work to improve the Club.

Save the Date - April 26, 2014, PMYC will have a Commodore’s Appreciation party to recognize those that go beyond normal volunteers, to welcome new members, and generally enjoy all the membership. Please join us.

Looking for you at the Club.

Glen Solomon

Dear PMYC-ers: Thanks to all for a great Opening Day. We missed many folks that were not there and hope you will bring your smiling faces to a host of future parties and activities your club has planned for you over the next few months. Of special note is the Cinco de Mayo cruise to Catalina next month. Your Fleet Captain, Curt, has put a great program together for our enjoyment. So please plan to attend this fun weekend. I keep asking for you, our members, to tell me what you would like changed at the club to better serve your needs. I have not received a single response. May I assume your bridge is doing a good job? If not, then I want to hear about it so we can deliver a better club experience to each and every member. We are having some GREAT Friday night dinners and we look forward to seeing you at the club this Friday night and every Friday night. PS: Melissa and I got married in Florida last weekend, so buy us a drink!! Much Aloha, Your Vice Commodore Alan Rock

Curt Bersche - Fleet Captain I would like to thank my beautiful wife, Roxann, for putting on THE best birthday party that I have ever had. She did an incredible job and put forth so much effort to make this the most memorable birthday for me. I can’t thank her enough. I would also like to thank Michael Elia for his incredible cooking skills and for providing a fabulous meal that was raved about by all. Special thanks to Renee Alexandre for assisting Chef Michael. Additionally, I would like to thank Jeff Jeffries and The Hot Pocket Band for providing us with awesome entertainment. He definitely rocked the house. Finally, I would like to thank all of you who were able to make it to the party. You made my day.

Also, thank you to everyone who helped out to make our 2014 Opening Day one of the best. Your efforts are very much appreciated and do not go unnoticed. Thank you.

OK, on with my report:

2014 FLEET INSPECTION

There is a lot to do as Fleet Captain, but probably the best part of my job is Fleet Inspection and giving out the trophies on Opening Day. I would like to thank all of the Captains who entered their boats and the great job they did preparing them, serving food and beverages (lots of beverages) and, most importantly, bribing the judges. On that note, I would like to thank our judges Mike and Lisa Clausen, Roxann Bersche, Lonnie Ward and Wendy Steinthal.                                   CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WINNERS!!!

I am getting very excited, because this year’s cruise season is starting in one month with our Cinco de Mayo cruise to Two Harbors. Details about this cruise will be available shortly as will the sign-up sheet. We are going to need a lot of help transporting all of the provisions, so please let me (Curt Bersche) know if you can assist in any way. It would be very much appreciated. For those of you who missed it, below is the 2014 cruise schedule.

May 2-4, 2014 CINCO DE MAYO Two Harbors (West Band Shell) June 13-15, 2014 FATHER'S DAY Avalon July 4, 2014 DINGHY RAMA PMYC July 25-27, 2014 LUAU Cat Harbor-Ballast Point (with Shoreline Yacht Club) August TBD This year we are planning on adding a local day cruise, dinghy cruise or a bicycle "cruise". September 26-28 HORS D’OEUVRE Emerald Bay (Corsair). I have been informed that we will be able to use the Boy Scout dock to drop people off, but we will not be able to dock our dinghies there.

I would like you all to welcome our newest member, Mark Chapin. Mark is a member of Fairwind Yacht Club and will be a PMYC Fair-wind Associate Member. When you see him up at the Club, please introduce yourself and make him feel at home.

Keith Mott - Port Captain

Another great and wonderful opening day. Lots of happy faces and great people. The club, as usual, treated everyone to a great day at PMYC. As I recited on opening day:

Sir, the paint is dry, our members are not, our strawberries, once dangling, now pumped with a

shot.

Our railings are varnished, our brass lamps all polished, here's hoping the Clubhouse, will not be

demolished.

Our members are happy, on new sabots they sail, they come back wet, they forgot to bail.

Our food is prepared, by members with passion,

we hope you enjoy it, in yacht club fashion.

We welcome our guests, with exuberant cheers, to help us celebrate our past 51 years.
