The 4th Annual Self Growth Professional Development Days

Reg noted that during the past four years there has been a steady decrease in retention (77%, 75%, 74%, 66%); goal to achieve –75% (min), 80% 85% (stretch) We are progressing well. As of early March 2018, we have achieved 77.2%.
Challenges were also highlighted: Driving toward member involvement, rather than having the BOD carry all of the load. This is your Chapter, and we need your involvement. Among the challenges, getting and keeping volunteers engaged, and the revisions to the PMBOK.
Next, the Strategic Portfolio was reviewed. This is the Presidents’ portfolios. They, the elect, residing and past, Presidents have not had a portfolio in the past. We are moving to adjust that; to better leverage the experience and knowledge of these three professionals. This also creates continuity and moves us in the right direction.
Professional Development –
Amit Tamraka, Director (2017)
Oleg Belyaev, Director (2018)
• Professional Development Strategy:
Structure of a PM profile by years of experience
Guideline to meeting every level of PM
One of the strategic elements was to draw up the structure to determine the actual professional development needs of the members, beyond PD Days.
We are starting to track and record the trajectory of an ideal PM career.

Marketing
Neha Tamraka, Director (2017)
Currently Vacant
• Reengaging with past PMINB members
• UNB Faculty Mixer
Marketing fell a little on the wayside this year. We had some success in reengaging with past members and we have had some traction in getting some members back into PMINB. This portfolio needs some guidance and direction and we are looking for someone to take on this role.
Accomplishments:
Corporate Sponsorship Yves Gagnon, Director (2017), Currently Vacant
By-laws & Policies Melissa Akerley Meadows, Director
Military Transition Program Work In Progress
Academic Outreach Work In Progress
Sponsorship based on a win-win relationship. PMI NB asks for what they need and our sponsors leverage an access to our membership via a guarded and safe information mechanism.
Rather than just looking for cash from a large corporation, we are looking more closely at what are needs are and identifying potential sponsors to fill these needs. Yves, has a lot of experience in this area and will stay open to us as a SME, but this position is presently open.
By-laws – we are using the existing template that Global has provided. We will still get our constitution updated and signed off by PMI Global and our members and eventually get our policies updated.
Military Transition Program – New Brunswick as a Pilot for this program is in the works.
Academic Outreach – reaching out to institutions in the province to bring knowledge to that environment, which is a win-win for the Chapter and the institution.

VP Service Delivery, Judy Straight-Griggs, introduced her team.
She provided a review of the 2017-2018 year:
Service Delivery really focusses on the Study Groups and Local Events. They have been working with local organizations more this year, learning better what their needs are.

Some difficulty getting traction going with the change in the PMBOK, and building a sufficient registration. 2 registrants attending the SJ study group via Skype. If we can get the model working well this may allow us to reach out to other parts of the province.
In the Moncton area, specifically, we had a dialogue with Oulton College whose students attended a couple of the sessions.

We are looking at similar numbers this year. Don asked about Lunch & Learns – guiding position in the past is that they were designed to be a break-even. Sébastien replied that this is still the case. Though, any monies earned then go back to operations and other events.

Reg shared his final thoughts as President: Many changes for the year, new PMBOK, new exams, Agile adoption, Lean Project Management. There are many new faces and many new ideas driving and being driven by new communications portfolio and social media use. Our momentum is gathering; our profession is growing and it is safely in your hands. But you need to put your hands on it to make that continue to happen.
Volunteering with PMI-NB is a great opportunity and I encourage you if you are not involved then to join the team! It is a fantastic group of professionals working on things that benefit us all; continuing to grow the profession and giving back to our fellow practitioners. We can learn so much from each other!
Academic out reach, veterans transition program, constitution re-write to align with PMI Global, membership numbers growing, PD Days
The profession, in my mind, is the strongest and most recognized it has ever been. Keep you the great work. The future of the profession, our chapter and PMI is bright.
He thanked everyone for the 2018 Annual General Meeting, brought the meeting to an official close at 6:05pm and introduced the new PMI-NB President; Brendan Bates.
