PMA Cuda RT Presentation Evening 14th January 2017NAGS HEAD, MICKLEOVER, DERBY
WWW.PMA-RACING.CO.UK
CEO’s Report2016 was the team’s first proper go at competing together as a group focusing on
the EM series. We said that we didn’t come to take part and proved many of the doubters wrong exceeding all expectations with an excellent 5th team in the East Midlands Regional series, which is fair to say is one of the strongest regions in the country. With 36 athletes ranging from 8-15 we began our journey in April 2016 with “kit night” where we dished out the top of the range team kit to look ‘proper pro’. It’s fair to say that we raised the bar on the circuit in this department.
We continue to encourage all the juniors to train with the single discipline clubs, which proves to be the best training environment and then come together as a unit and support all team mates on. A number of open water/transition specific training was provided successfully.
We were extremely visible both with team kit and atmosphere with everyone providing masses of encouragement and were often the biggest represented team at many events.
Both individual and team performances improved as we went through the season with ever increasing top 10 finishers.
Our own Cuda Foremarke Junior Triathlon was a brilliant event with brilliant marshall support and was the 2nd biggest event in the region and voted the best race of the season by the team.
A massive thanks to all the SP’s (Supportive Parents) who have supported not only their own kids but all the kids from the team.
Finally I would like to thank all the many sponsors (many that remained anonymous) and especially to Cuda Bikes, which ensured that we remained at the leading edge of comfort, style & fashion.
I know that 2017 will exceed 2016 now that we have dipped our toe and we will see us achieving even greater things whilst having fun!
Jim CresswellCEO

2016 Events
1. RAF Scampton Duathlon9TH APRIL (EAST MIDLANDS SERIES EVENT)We had a massive presence with 28 of the team racing on the closed road RAF base. The standard in the East Midlands series is typically very high so to secure individual top 10 placings is a real achievement and everyone did really well despite a few crashes in the wet conditions.
PMA Athletes 28 Top 10 finishers 8 Run RAF Air base (closed road) Bike Closed road PMA Event ranking Equal 7th out of 10
2. Duston Triathlon16TH APRIL (EAST MIDLANDS SERIES EVENT)We always knew that it would be a struggle to get a squad attending the event in Northampton but we managed some reasonable performances on the somewhat short distances in very chilly conditions. It wasn’t the best of races in terms of course lay out but this was the biggest race in the region and unfortunately this was our worst performing team event.
PMA Athletes 6 Top 10 finishers 1 Swim Pool Bike Grass laps Run Run laps PMA Event ranking 10th out of 10
Nottingham Varsity Aquathlon24TH APRILThis race was not part of the EM Series but it was great so see the team dominate the top positions. The Nottingham university campus was great to see with the swim taking place in the 50M pool.

3. Prestwold Duathlon15TH MAY (EM SERIES EVENT)This was the first ‘PMA Massive’ turnout with 29 racing on the closed motor racing circuit at Prestwold for another Duathlon (Run/Bike/Run), what was really windy conditions giving an advantage to the strong bike riders.
4. Clifton 4Life Triathlon22ND MAY (EM SERIES EVENT)With the PMA senior management & mentors racing 70.3 Barcelona, the 27 athletes raced the first of the pool swim events in Nottingham on what looked like glorious sunny conditions. The race was the break through race who made the podium (2nd) for the first time and pretty much continued this way for the rest of the season.
PMA Athletes 27 Top 10 finishers 8 Swim Pool Bike Grass laps Run Grass PMA Event ranking 4th out of 10
Sandwell Triathlon (West Midlands Series)
26TH JUNE 2016 Sandwell in Brum was another target race and was a West Midlands event in a small open water lake. It was a great little race and was where the wetty/no wetty debate started and continued for all the preceding open water events for the season. The bike section was on a smooth main road with a hill and closed for the race.
Despite it being a great race the size of the field was amazingly low and PMA totally dominated the field in both performance and support.
PMA Athletes 16 Top 10 finishers 11 Swim Lake open water Bike Road (closed roads with a hill on each lap) Run Off road out and back of the lake PMA Event ranking Equal 5th
5. Cuda Foremarke Junior Triathlon2ND JULY 2016 Foremarke was our very own promoted race in perfect weather conditions (albeit the grass was rather wet) and nearly the whole team came together to race and support our own event. For many of the athletes this was their best performance of the season.
The event was also the 2nd biggest in the region just a few finishers behind Duston (Northants).
PMA Athletes 38 Top 10 finishers 12 Competitors 388 Swim Pool Bike Mixture of off road grass & tarmac Run Out and back on the grass PMA Event ranking 1st out of 10
Ripon Triathlon10TH JULY 2016 (YORKSHIRE SERIES)Ripon was the weekend trip away camping on-site for 2 nights at the famous race course with a bar on-site and lots of entertainment for everyone. There is an adults race on the Saturday afternoon with the kids race in the morning with a lake swim (in the middle of the race course)
PMA Athletes 10 Top 10 finishers 1 Swim Lake open water Bike Off road around the lake Run Off road out and back of the lake
6. Derby Triathlon11TH JULY 2016 Despite half the team racing in Ripon, Derby proved to be a successful round for the team due to lots of rain with the older kids racing Triathlon and the younger ones racing an Aquathlon. The bike section was the key and more akin to Cyclo Cross which was a definite benefit to Cross specialist Mike who took the win in the Boys TS3.
PMA Athletes 16 Top 10 finishers 10 Swim Pool Bike Cyclo cross (T3 & Youth only) Run Multiple laps on the muddy grass PMA Event ranking Equal 7th out of 10
Future Outlaw (Holme Pierpoint)
23RD JULY 2016Although this wasn’t part of the EM series (partly due to the fact there being only 1 race distance) that meant the event was only open to TS2, TS3 and Youth athletes, everyone really enjoyed the race. This was a side event of the main Outlaw Triathlon so the infrastructure and hype was already in place. The PMA team even gone some TV coverage!
PMA Athletes 12 Top 10 finishers 6 Swim Lake open water Bike Road around the lake Run Road out and back of the lake PMA Event ranking
7. Desford Triathlon7TH AUGUSTGreat weather once again for the leisurely afternoon start greeted the PMA contingent. The race itself is great from a spectator perspective as everything is all in close proximity but the actual course design is pretty boring and this is reflected in the survey results. Top performance of the day went to Megan Neave on a 2nd place in the TS3 Girls.
PMA Athletes 16 Top 10 finishers 11 Swim Pool swim Bike Grass (pretty boring) Run Grass - large laps PMA Event ranking 9th out of 10

8. Absolute Triathlon10TH SEPTEMBER (EAST MIDLANDS SERIES)Based at the new Harvey Haddon sports complex in Notts this always looked like a good race in the 8 lane 50M pool (25M for the race) with a split transition. The bike was on the closed cycle circuit and the run was all within the grounds.
Very positive feedback from the PMA members with a big turn out and some excellent performances.

9. Lincoln Triathlon24TH SEPTEMBER 2016The last race of the season and great weather yet again with a road (multiple lap bike) and grass run. Counting the number of laps is obviously not a strength as we reached our biggest DQ rate to-date with 4 in total.
Despite this and given that this was the furthest race to travel Lincoln proved to be the best result for the team with the most podium finishers of the season which was great to see the improvement throughout the season.
