The company was established in 2007 after directors Sean and James saw a gap in the market for a Plumbing and Drainage company who deliver a rapid response whilst providing good communication and feedback.

Day after day we hear how many other companies fail on communication and feedback which we believe is important.

In addition to our core plumbing and drainage services we also specialise in heating and liquid waste removal and provide planned preventive maintenance, reactive maintenance, installation/system upgrades and ongoing building management.

Our method to ensure fast response times and good client communication remain paramount to our team.

An Overview

Page 4: Plumbing, Drainage, Gas & Tanker Services · prevent intensifying any plumbing problems. Clearing blocked drains by Jetting Knowing how much water pressure is required to clear out

The build-up of limescale is very difficult to remove and in some cases, normal drain cleaning methods such as water jetting, will not work. In these instances, more specialist equipment or higher jetting pressures may be required.

We have specialist equipment which has been designed to remove this scale whilst preserving the integrity of the pipes/sewers.

The equipment we use at First Choice Drainage Solutions is considered the very best on the market. We have invested in these machines and have trained all engineers in the safe use of them.

This permits us to carry out drain descaling works on a wide variety of pipework including stacks, and main drains. This work is often carried out as part of routine maintenance on systems which have suffered from blockage caused by hard water scale. Warthog and chain flail spinning jet heads or even mechanical cutters are some of the options available to us to help assist you with this issue. Drain Milling / De-Scaling

We clear blocked drains using traditional rodding techniques as well as using high-pressure jet washers. For more serious issues, we have drainage consultants who can perform a CCTV drain survey. The results of a survey help us to find a resolution for blockages and, if needed, show us where systems require a new drain lining or replacement pipes.

Drain Cleaning & Maintenance

Power jet drain cleaning is the best way to clear pipelines and has the added benefit of removing scale from the drainage walls. As experts in high-pressure drain cleaning, we take care to do the job correctly, to prevent intensifying any plumbing problems.

Clearing blocked drains by Jetting

Knowing how much water pressure is required to clear out a drain is important. We also take into consideration the condition of your piping system and the internal diameter of the clogged pipes flush deposits from your drains in a safe and appropriate manner.

Site Audits

The purpose of a site audit is to provide our clients with a clear understanding of our site fi ndings. The audit also clearly outlines solutions to resolve any known issues. Not only this, but the audit also identifi es how the works can be carried out - including access requirements, disruption to people or property and length of time works will be carried out.

Site Audits include:• Images and descriptions for all drainage and plumbing surveyed for the purpose of works.

• Methods to resolve any issues found.• Access information and plan of action for a full resolution.

Project Notes

As instructed, we attended site to carry out a full CCTV survey and provide an appropriate written report based on our findings along with any recommendations if any. The purpose of the inspection was to check all drainage lines, inspection chambers and map all pipework. The CCTV survey was carried out from inside the building, on the shop floor areas from all inspection chambers and underground pipework connections to the underground drainage systems. Including both foul and stormwater drains and all downpipe connections. Access had to be made to all inspection chambers as all lids were concreted, grouted and sealed shut. All effort was made to access all chambers, but due to the inspection chambers not being lifted from when they were originally installed, the frames and covers were very difficult to open. Because all frame covers are on the shop floor areas and the property is still trading, we had to make sure we never left any trip hazards. This resulted in access not being made to all the chambers and we were unable to have the use of grinders because of causing dust particles and a hot works permit was not permitted. All inspection chambers when exposed were sealed with burns covers and had to be unscrewed in order to gain access to the underground drainage. The CCTV revealed four separate drainage systems, two foul systems and two storm systems. These systems enter sewer drains on Holloway Road and the rear of the building towards the loading bay. The drains located in the food hall have a storm system and a foul system that disperse towards the loading bay. The foul system in this area has two hidden inspection chambers (IC – F2 & IC – F3) that

were inaccessible and will need to be exposed and surveyed when renovation works are carried out. This foul system is connected to the 1st-floor men’s toilets. The storm system in this area is inconclusive due to not being able to access two of the chambers. (IC – RW1 & IC – RW3) The drains were mapped from the survey and drainage layout and measurements. In the clothes department, we found a second foul system underneath the till area which disperses onto Holloway road, this system serves the 2nd-floor women’s toilets and the sink in the cupboard adjacent to the till. Along this line, before entering Holloway road at the boundary of the property there is another hidden inspection chamber, (IC – F5) which is inaccessible. The final system found onsite is a potentially old rainwater system which has a concealed 150mm cast iron pipework that runs underneath the floor through a void with no access on it, this runs through three inspection chambers aligned. The inspection chamber closest to the street was accessed (IC – S) This system needs to be cut open and reconnected to survey and investigated further. The last chamber we found on site was a large square chamber (IC -?) adjacent to the concealed storm system towards the back off the store. Time was spent trying to remove all the grout and concrete around the frame to lift to investigate but was firmly sealed and requires hot works permit to remove and identify and investigate. All images attached below. The CCTV survey shows no signs of any major defects, but the service to the pipework is poor condition. Drains are cast iron and are heavily scaled and showing corrosion. Quotations will be provided for any extra works that need to be carried out.

CCTV Surveys & ReportsWe conduct comprehensive CCTV drain surveys by inserting flexible fibre optic cables into your drainage system. These ca-bles are able to easily manoeuvre around corners and bends. The fibre optic camera, connected wirelessly to a monitor above the ground, allows our drainage consultants to examine a live feed without digging or excavating.

Reporting

Following a CCTV drain survey, clients receive a comprehensive report that includes documented images with still photos and video footage. We can also supply a site plan for insurance purposes.

First Choice Drainage Solutions differentiates small repairs, such as the clearance of blocked drains and pipe patchwork, from long-term restoration methods like the installation of a replacement drain lining.

We also report on the condition of pipework and the drain-age system as a whole and highlight the underlying causes of cracks, leaks and damage. Please see our sample drain survey report for further info...

Drain Lining & RepairsDrain lining is a repair option that is cost-effective, causes minimal disruption, and offers many additional benefits – like an increased water-flow rate and the prevention of tree-root infestation... It is a great way to get your drain fixed if you are experiencing any of the following:

• Leaks, wet patches or dampness• Blockages / Bad odours• Cracks in your property’ brickwork, or on the ground• Subsidence• Issues with tree roots

We use only the best and most advanced technologies to identify your problem and remedy it. Firstly, we clear debris or blockages in your drains and conduct a thorough CCTV survey to diagnose any further issues. Then, we formulate a treatment plan, which may involve an entire line or reline, or a small patch if cracks are small or joints are simply misplaced. Finally, we carry out any required work swiftly and professionally.
