Digital Eye Strain I opened 2 g ifts th is morn i ng , they were my eyes

WHAT IS EYE STRAIN?

Eye strain is a sign of the muscles and nerves of the eyes being overworked, stressed and fatigued. This can affect anyone at any age and is becoming increasingly common in current times due to our increased exposure to electronics for longer periods of time. This exposure isn’t just the television these days, it is computers, laptops, tablets, smartphones, and the list goes on. Because modern times have caused such a change in the strain we put on our eyes, we need to put a real focus on making sure we look after them well.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF COMPUTER EYE STRAIN?

Eye discomfort.

Headaches.

Sore, tired, burning or itchy eyes.

Difficulty focusing.

Watery eyes.

Dry eyes.

Blurred or double vision.

Increased sensitivity to light.

PREVENTION:

Have regular eye tests. This is essential to maintain clear comfortable vision.

Rest your eyes regularly. Look away from the screen often, staring into the distance. This will relax the muscles inside your eye, therefore reducing fatigue.

Use adequate lighting. Eye strain is common in situations of excessive sunlight or room lighting that is too bright.

E Y E E X E R C I S E S

Blink eyes repeatedly and rapidly if they feel dry. Use re-wetting drops if needed.

Make sure your screens and chair are correctly positioned.

Set contrast/brightness on screens to reduce glare.

Do your ergonomic eye exercises regularly.

Wear correct eye protection, not only to protect against dust and debris but tinted safety glasses for those glary sun days outside.

Make your work as stress and strain free as possible, look after your eyes and in turn they will look after you.

The new plug and play lighting control solutions from ESYLUX are turning heads as a radical, yet very simple system to provide intelligent, cost-effective, easy to operate automation.

Designed and produced in Germany to remove installation complexity, simplify installation, and remove any programming needs for the contractor, and with intuitive controls for the building occupant, you’ll be signing the job off much, much faster, and with zero headaches post installation.

The heart of the Esylux Light Control (ELC) system is the SmartDriver, which contains the power supply for all connected lights, enabling them to be linked using Cat5e cable via RJ45 connections. The automated controls simply connect to the SmartDriver on a 2wire BUS, providing intelligent daylight harvesting, presence detection, and scene control, all supplied with pre-programmed default settings, ensuring the system just works from the moment power is connected.

This eliminates time consuming commissioning which can often be the curse of the contractor in estimating the labour required during quoting. Installations in Europe are proving up to 60% faster to complete, making automation more affordable for more building owners.

Control of the system is automatically driven from the PIR sensors, but can be manually overridden in several ways. Using standard 230V push-to-make mechanical switch mechs to control dimming and scene recall, or use the Esylux wall control connected on the BUS for a more stylish finish.

Additional options include Bluetooth variants, which can also be used to change settings and scenes if required using the free Esylux Light Control app, and KNX versions, connectable directly on the KNX BUS, a global first removing the need for gateways.

SmartDrivers can be connected together to create larger groups up to 80 luminaires, and further groups can be added to accommodate up to 800 luminaires in total. Additional devices, to control both light and room climate, such as ventilation, can be connected and controlled without modification. ELC lighting systems include ceiling luminaires, sensors, controllers and cables that deliver fully scalable automated lighting solutions.

Luminaire choices begin with constant colour warm white or cool white options, extending to full tunable white, enabling dynamic colour temperature selection anywhere from 2700K to 6500k. This solution is perfect for multipurpose rooms used for different tasks.

From cool and bright, to warm and dimmed, room use may vary from client meetings to workshops to social staff gatherings. Tunable white will create the right scene for the right task, and if that isn’t enough, this option has Human Centric lighting curves already loaded to replicate natural daylight changes across the course of the day.

ELC lighting systems from Esylux are surprisingly affordable, surprisingly easy to install, and surprisingly simple to operate.

An efficient home ventilation system may well be just a low cost product that keeps moisture build-up at bay. An effective system, however, is an investment that actually delivers on the quality of life promise we now expect, as the minimum, for in-home comfort.

In colder climates, it is just so much more important that ventilation systems not only perform their basic function of extracting moist, stale air, but do it in such a way that complements the costly efforts made to warm the home in the first place. A home is not going to remain comfortable and cosy if the “efficient, low cost” ventilation option just brings in a constant flow of cold air from the outside.

The pioneering SmartVent Balance systems are sensible investments in effective home ventilation designed specifically for new build and low-permeability properties.

These systems incorporate MVHR (mechanical ventilation with heat recovery) technology which effectively uses the heat of the stale air being extracted to temper the incoming cold air to ensure that the loss of heat in the home is kept to a minimum. The warm, moist, stale air is extracted from a central point in the home, such as the hallway, through ducting and passed through the heat exchanger before being exhausted to the outside. Incoming fresh air is filtered and then tempered via the integral heat exchanger which recovers an average of 90% of the heat energy from the home that would otherwise be wasted.

With comfort key for occupants the system also features a ‘summer bypass’, for passive cooling when conditions allow and an integral humidity sensor (selected models) for intelligent air quality control. The integral humidity sensor increases airflow in proportion to relative humidity levels, thus saving energy and ensuring that air quality is consistently high.

The compact and lightweight MVHR unit comes with horizontal and vertical duct options making it very simple to install where space availability is at a premium.

An integrated digital controller provides simple and accurate commissioning. If the unit is not immediately accessible, a remotely-wired version of the digital controller can also be positioned anywhere within 15m of the unit.

SmartVent Balance is a European-designed and manufactured counterflow heat recovery system delivering the maximum energy efficiency for ventilation control…specify one today or utilise our free planning service for your next project then stand back and let the quality of the SmartVent Balance range speak for itself.

If you google the word Blockchain, you will get pages and pages of material

and definitions. What we do know or are being told is that this was invented by a person or group of people under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto! In a book called “Blockchain Revolution”, Don and Alex Tapscott define blockchain as “an incorruptible digital ledger of economic transactions that can be programmed to record not just financial transactions but virtually everything of value”.It does take time to digest what they are actually meaning.Let’s take time to dissect their definition.Incorruptible ledger of economic transactions: Essentially, blockchain is like a massive spreadsheet available to all users who can access the chain via the internet simultaneously in their millions and have transactions recorded and settled with peer-to-peer authentication technology. That can be programmed to record not just financial transactions but virtually everything of value: Look at this as a database that records any transactions made by you, but also who has paid who and how much or who has done what or who owns what

property. Now, if you then bring in smart contracting, then the commercial implications of blockchain become more evident.

A smart contract is a series of codes which work on a basic binary approach of if something occurs, then something else will occur and so on. So, you end up with a series of automated transactions all triggered by actions or events that have been encoded. These are computer protocols which then allow a digital facilitation, verification and completion of a contract. The code is the law of this contract. Once an event has taken place, the next step is irreversible. Is this just a pipe dream? Well no as I will demonstrate.TRANSPORT OF GOODS. A TRANSPARENT SUPPLY CHAIN

Smart contracts are already regulating the shipment of goods from supplier to end purchaser. The smart contract will code who gets paid what at each step of the transaction. The consumer, the supplier and the various intermediaries will all be captured under the contract. Starting with the moment the consumer orders the goods through blockchain, through to the Supplier selecting the item in a warehouse say in China, to the items being transported to a port

of export, then on an airplane or ship, to being carried to a port of import, to being loaded in a van and finally delivered or picked up, by the consumer, each step will automatically trigger the other and will be irreversible.

Here is a fact for you to digest. Of the 406 patent applications relating to blockchain, Alibaba filed 43 and the Chinese government, 68. Alibaba uses an e-commerce subsidiary called Lynx International to track information in its cross-border logistics services. Alibaba also uses blockchain technology to monitor quality of food during the supply chain.INSURANCE CLAIMS

Imagine a system where claims are managed automatically without any human intervention. If smart contracts had been in place during the earthquake, then technically the damage assessment could have been loaded into the blockchain, thus triggering an immediate and automated assessment of the claim. Same thing can happen with a medical insurance claim or report of theft of vehicle.LOANS

Applications for loans could be made, assessed and processed automatically without the need for any human intervention.

Theoretically, you could even include Landonline New Zealand and the lawyer in the blockchain and voila, the mortgage is registered. REGISTRY OF TITLES AND SALE AND PURCHASES

Currently in New Zealand, the correct ownership of land is documented via a digital record of ownership. Imagine incorporating the registration and change of ownership via a blockchain process. I am aware of at least one outfit in the USA offering a smart contract approach to buying and selling houses, without dare I say, the intervention of lawyers… Check Propy.com. What has really blown me away, is the fact there are properties listed for sale, all over the world, so its already happening.RENTALS

There is for instance a company called Slock.IT, which allows customers to rent anything by unlocking a smart lock after both parties have agreed on terms of contract and triggered a smart contract contained on the blockchain platform Ethereum. Check their website. It is fascinating. Particularly, the concept of a Universal Sharing Network where machines can sell and rent themselves but also pay each other for services.

Most of you will have heard of “Bitcoin”, “Blockchain” and “Smart Contracts”. But not many people appreciate that blockchain is already here and is being applied in different economic contexts. My article aims at sharing some of the applications, but with a word of caution while the law tries to keep up.

CLOUD STORAGE

Check out a company called Storj. They offer Distributed Cloud Storage, end to end encrypted powered by blockchain payments. What fascinates me with this company is how the owners are so forward thinking and generous about their IP and thinking. LOYALTY PROGRAMS

Gyft is a company that is looking at using the bitcoin public ledger to allow for the trading of gift cards, and other loyalty schemes. DATA AND NETWORK ACCESS

Check out ShoCard. They use blockchain to validate a person’s identity on a cell phone. In doing so, they claim this eliminates the need for usernames and passwords. ELECTRICITY GRID AND BUILDING MAINTENANCE SYSTEMS

There is R & D being carried out to try and identify how blockchain and smart contracts could be used to optimise the supply and storage of electricity. I have read some white papers where it is suggested smart contracts could result in significant reduction of electricity use by balancing the supply with real demand. Similarly, by using blockchain, it is thought energy use in buildings or factories, whether it be for heating or general power use can be better optimised by a real time

balance of use and supply. From what I can work out, the key here is having sophisticated sensors that supply real time data into the blockchain thus triggering various responses from the heating or power supply components. Jack Ma, the founder of Alibaba, is quoted as saying:” We should be cautious about bitcoin. Its underlying technology, however, is really powerful. I pay more attention to a cashless society and the blockchain technology.” I agree, and would add blockchain is so powerful, that politicians, law makers and lawyers still have the heads buried in the sand. It is happening very quickly. A lot can go wrong. The smart contract will need to cover the management of risk and insurance. Remember, payments will be automatic. But here lies the flip side. By being automatic and irreversible, the coding must be perfect. Mr Smarts does not want a case of Pepsi if he is ordering Coke via the blockchain. If Mr Smart’s account was automatically debited of the value of the crate of Pepsi on the point of ordering, what recourse does he have if Coke turns up. Who is at fault. Is it the supplier? Is it the coder? Can the smart contract be programmed to resolve that event? Similarly, if the Pepsi does not turn up, or does not turn up in the agreed timeframe, or turns up to be subpar standard, what then?

This is where this becomes interesting from a contract law point of view.

There are different ways of looking at this. Do you consider that the coding is nothing more than a means to reflect, verify and implement what has been agreed between two or more parties to an agreement by way of a program? If that is the approach, then the applicable Law will be like any other contract of supply, and you would refer to the natural wording of the base agreement to ascertain terms and conditions such as warranties etc. Or, do you consider that the coding has added to the terms of what may have been initially agreed and thus, the coding forms part of the initial agreement and the two are the contract. In that scenario, you would need to decipher the coding and translate it into some form of natural language. Or, is the smart contract itself a new form of contract, requiring a review of its terms to ensure that it is a valid contract in itself? Then this becomes difficult as the smart contract may involve proprietary platforms with no real focus on contact law implications. Often designed as a service agreement. How do you then work out with certainty the terms and conditions? An added complication arises from country’s law has jurisdiction over the coded component of the contract. The smart contract

itself operates over the internet and is transnational. But then how does a lawyer even begin to ascertain the validity of a contract which is written in code? Lawyers are taught to think natural language. Judges adjudicate in the natural language. Politicians, well let’s not go there.

I anticipate practical difficulties in ascertaining whether a smart contract has actually performed according to the terms of what have may been agreed in natural language. How many lawyers are there, who are fluent in both the natural language and the language of coding? Another legal risk arises from that fact that the very nature of a smart contract is to be automated. How does one intervene to stop the implementation of the smart contract if the coding was wrong?

I have read that because of the risks associated with coding smart contracts, there are steps to develop standard smart contract code audits. You may be interested in knowing that the Parliament of Malta has passed three bills into law to establish a regulatory framework for blockchain technology. Their minister in charge stated in July:” The three bills that will regulate distributed ledger technology (DLT) have been approved by Parliament and enacted into law. UFB Installations in Urban Areas: What Lead-In pipe can an Electrical Contractor use?

With the second phase of the NZ Government’s $2 Billion UFB Roll Out about to extend access of Ultra-fast broadband to an additional 151 towns as well as 43 suburban fringe areas in various larger centers, James Buchanan, Sales Manager for Electrical & Telco Division at Marley NZ provides some key advice for UFB underground Lead-In work.BackgroundChorus carrys out the majority of the backbone fibre work that leads to the boundary of a property. From there it is the responsibility of Local Fibre Companies (LFCs) to deploy the UFB initiative within NZ towns & cities (i.e. Enable Networks and Chorus). With the fibre network backbone complete the focus has come onto getting NZ homes, schools and commercial premises connected to ultrafast broadband. Combined with the current boom in residential construction, Marley has seen a significant increase in the demand for UFB Lead-In pipe around the country.

Frequently Asked Questions,James says “the most common query from electrical contractors at the moment is whether they can install a green chorus pipe into a roadside to home service trench. And if they can, what Lead-In pipe does Chorus specify.” Chorus branded 20mm Lead-In pipe and sweep bends can be installed by electrical contractors.“I understand why there may be some confusion around what pipe an electrical contractor can use for data and comms projects” explains James. “As a result Chorus requested we clarify with our merchant channel that Chorus branded 50mm & 110mm green duct is to be purchased and used only by Chorus Authorised Service

Specified Lead-In pipe and associated pre-form bends

• Use “Chorus” branded pipe, minimum of 20mm size, telecommunication green in colour (see Marley offering below)

• An individual Lead-In pipe is required for each residence (network cable must have its own conduit and not be shared)

• Ensure Lead-In pipe installation is compatible with trench requirements• Inclusion of a draw tape for chorus to install and terminate the required

network cables

For further details regarding installation, trenching, mechanical protection and clearances. Refer Chorus website: “Installing Underground Lead-In Pipes”: https://www.chorus.co.nz/wiring-for-broadband/contractors/installig-underground-telecommunications-lead-ins-for-urban-premises

Providers (Broadspectrum, Downers, UCG and Electronet) within the fibre network. This is to ensure there is no confusion if buried pipe needs to be identified in the future. For other non-Chorus data or comms projects, such as installation of CCTV cameras etc, contractors must use non-branded communication duct that Marley now provides ex-stock.” In terms of connecting fibre from the property boundary to a house, the property owner or developer is responsible to engage an electrical contractor to install the underground Lead-In pipe with draw tape, which the LFC will use to haul through the network cable and complete the connection. Chorus branded 20mm Lead-In pipe and swept bends can be installed from the property boundary (network terminal) to the External Termination Point (ETP) on the house. The ETP is where the internal cabling connects to the outside cable. The following information highlights the Chorus requirements for Lead-In pipe within urban fibre installations. It covers Single Dwelling Units (SDU) and single houses within a Right Of Way (ROW). It does not cover a ROW development or a Multi Dwelling Unit (MDU). Chorus Auditors carry out site inspections to ensure installation of Lead-In pipe complies with their specification and failure to comply may result in refusal to connect to the network, along with cost to rectify the installation. Note: other LFCs may have different Lead-In pipe requirements.

Underground Lead-In RequirementsAn underground Lead-In is required in all property developments and is comprised of a Lead-In pipe (approved conduit/duct), the communication cable, and the ETP.

The below details identify key components of Lead-In pipe installation:

TECHNOLOGY

LET ME TELL YOU A LITTLE SOMETHING ABOUT GAMING IN 2018…It is estimated that 2.3 billion gamers across the globe will spend $201.9 billion (NZ) on games in 2018. This represents an increase of 13.3% from the year before, or $23.7 billion.

In terms of revenue, the gaming industry makes more money than movies in the US. In 2016 gaming earned $30.4 billion, whilst all movies released made $11.6 billion in total box office revenue. Even if you add all the downloads and Blu-Ray sales it doesn’t come close….

WHY THEN DON’T GAMES GET THE SAME RESPECT AS MOVIES? Essentially games nowadays are pretty much interactive movies with story lines yet are still seen as just playtime. Something considered childish – yet watching a movie isn’t. It could be a generational thing, being that most games in the 80’s and 90’s were just that – children’s toys.

Here at Redpaths through we do love our gaming, with the recent Mini Nintendo’s being a huge hit with our customers and staff!

For those of you who don’t know much about gaming – let me take you back….

ROLLING THE DICE 3,000 YEARS AGODice aren’t a modern invention. In fact, they’re probably among the oldest known gaming tools known to man. During an excavation in South-eastern Iran, archaeologists discovered a 3,000-year-old set of dice!

Ok maybe that was a little too far back… But anyhow, it shows how we have always been partial to playing games and competing with each other.

In 1972, Atari introduced Pong to the arcades. This was the first truly successful commercial arcade video game.

This spurred along an industry that didn’t exist previously, but no one had any idea as to how big this would become.

THE NATURE OF THE GAMES SPARKED COMPETITION AMONG PLAYERS, WHO COULD RECORD THEIR HIGH SCORES … AND WERE DETERMINED TO MARK THEIR SPACE AT THE TOP OF THE LIST.The video game boom caused by Space Invaders saw a huge number of new companies and consoles pop up, resulting in a period of market saturation. Too many gaming consoles, and too few interesting, engaging new games to play on them, eventually led to the 1983 North American video games crash, which saw huge losses, and truckloads of unpopular, poor-quality titles buried in the desert just to get rid of them. The gaming industry was in need of a change.

Bring on the 80’s as we start getting games like Super Mario Brothers and The Legend of Zelda, and home gaming really takes off. We start to see Pop Culture icons such as Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog branded everywhere, still very much targeted at children. The simple

narrative in the ‘story lines’ plays a big part of this, as its easily understood, good vs evil and not close to the complexity you would get in a movie or novel.

The nostalgia factor and easiness to jump back in has seen a massive resurgence in these games in the last few years. Basically the 80’s kids reliving their childhood! (me)

Fast forward a few more years, computers and consoles have become more powerful and the Internet brings with it the possibility of On-line Gaming.

THE REAL REVOLUTION IN GAMING CAME WHEN LAN NETWORKS, AND LATER THE INTERNET, OPENED UP MULTI-PLAYER GAMING.The release of RuneScape in 2001 was a game changer. MMORPG (massively multi-

Are you a proud Gamer? Or do you think games are ‘just for kids’?

player on-line role-playing games) allows millions of players worldwide to play, interact and compete against fellow fans on the same platform. The games also include chat functions, allowing players to interact and communicate with other players whom they meet in-game. World of Warcraft is another of these games, that was unstoppable at its peak and still has millions of players all over the world. The interaction is more than just gaming. It has been a platform for people to communicate around the globe, and even build friendships where players meet in the real world, get married and some have even gone on to have families.

THE MOVE TOWARD MOBILESince smartphones and app stores hit the market in 2007, gaming has undergone yet another rapid evolution that has changed not only the way people play games, but

also brought gaming into the mainstream pop culture in a way never before seen.

The time-killing nature of mobile gaming is attractive to so many people who basic games such as Angry Birds made Rovio $200 million in 2012 alone, and broke two billion downloads in 2014.

THE MODERN AGE OF GAMINGSince the early 2000s, Internet capabilities have exploded, and computer processor technology has improved at such a fast rate that every new batch of games, graphics and consoles seems to blow the previous generation out of the water.

I can’t write an article in 2018 and not mention that game that’s all over the media. Yes, you know which one I mean – Fortnight Battle Royal.

FORTNITE BATTLE ROYALE: HOW IT WORKS AND WHY IT’S SO POPULARFor those of you living under a rock: Fortnight is a free-to-play fighter game has attracted more than 45 million players around the world. Since launching little more than seven months ago, Fortnite Battle

Royale has become one of the most popular computer games in the world.

The cartoon-style game, which was released last September, is free for people with a PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Apple and Android phones. Fortnite Battle Royale is a massively on-line multi-player computer game that pits 100 players against each other in a virtual world. Players are dropped into random areas of the virtual world where they’re free to scavenge for weapons to defend themselves and players must keep moving to stay in the game

One of the major factors that has made Fortnite Battle Royale so successful is that it’s free to play. Players don’t need to splash any cash to battle against their friends. This makes the game significantly more accessible than other multi-player titles such as Call of Duty or Star Wars: Battlefront II.

Famous YouTubers, such as Jacksepticeye and PewDiePie, also upload video footage from their matches. One of PewDiePie’s videos, for instance, has amassed nearly nine million views in just over two weeks.

Finally, Fortnite Battle Royale’s visual style is far less violent than other multi-player fighting titles. This makes it appealing to both casual and professional video gamers – but also more ‘suitable’ looking to unassuming parents.

OK SO WHY AREN’T GAMES TREATED AS SERIOUSLY AS THE MOVIE INDUSTRY?What video games seem to lack when comparisons are drawn to film is not financial success, or recognition of its IP, stars or characters, or even the strength or depth of the stories. The one key factor that video games seem different to movies in is that elusive “glitz” quality. Red carpets, tuxedos, champagne receptions, and Hollywood superstars are far from the mind when one hears the words “video games.”

There is a sense of a “cool kids vs. nerds” mentality between the two industries, with the Hollywood lifestyle in direct contrast to the much less refined awkward gaming world, despite the profits the industry generates. Perhaps branding is to blame, as gaming tends to appeal to a younger more imaginative audience with WAY more time on their hands!

The next chapter for gaming is still unclear, but whatever happens, it is sure to be entertaining!

One Liners… Q: What do you call a computer

floating in the ocean? A: A Dell Rolling in the Deep.

Q: What is an astronaut's favorite place on a computer? A: The Space bar!

A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing

Never trust a computer you can't throw out a window

Q: Why are PCs like air conditioners? A: They stop working properly if you open Windows!

Q: Why did the computer go to the dentist? A: Because it had Bluetooth.

Q: What did the turkey say to the computer? A: Google, google, google

Q: How do trees use a computer? A: They log in!

Q: What do you call the space in between Pamela Anderson's breasts? A: Silicon Valley.

A language teacher was exlaining to her class that in French, nouns are grammatically designated as masculine or feminine. "House," is feminine:

"la maison." "Pencil, " masculine: 'le crayon."

One puzzled student asked, "What gender is a computer?" The teacher didn't know. So for fun she split the class into two groups by gender and asked them to decide whether "computer" should be a masculine or feminine noun.

Both groups were required to give four reasons for their recommendation.....

The men's group decided that computers should be of the feminine gender ("la computer") because:

No one but their creator understands their internal logic

The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else

Even the smallest mistakes are stored in long-term memory for possible later retrieval

As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself spending half your paycheck on accessories for it.

The women's group, however, concluded that computers should be masculine ("le computer") because:

In order to get their attention, you have to turn them on

They have a lot of data but they are still clueless

They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time they ARE the problem

As soon as you commit to one, you realise that if you'd waited a little longer, you could have gotten a better model.

SHIT How long did it take you to come up with that one?

I could eat a bowl of alphabet soup and shit out a smarter statement than that.

I don't argue with idiots, they will just lower me to their level then beat me with experience.

I'd like to see things from your point of view, but I can't get my head that far up my ass.

It's pointless to make fun of you becasue it will take you the rest of the day to figure it out.

It's scary to think that people like you are allowed to vote.

Think before you talk. Do you even listen to the things that come out of your mouth?

Were you held back a grade? Two?

Wow, you're even dumber than you look.

JONO LESTER - PROFESSIONAL RACING DRIVER

After a rough old start to the season, things are starting to scale rapidly off the back of a winning performance at the second Thailand Super Series event at Buriram.

I came into the round last (yes, dead last) in the points after the mechanical issues we suffered with our rented Lamborghini at round one. Now in my fresh, bright orange Vattana Gallardo, we hit the ground running with pole, an emphatic win in the opening race, and second in Race Two - leaving the track having elevated myself to third in the overall points standings.

Then the floodgates started to open with some amazing opportunities coming my way, led by the announcement that myself and fellow Kiwi Earl Bamber (a two-time Le Mans 24 Hours winner and Porsche Factory Driver) will head the pair of D’station Racing Porsche entries at the famous Suzuka 10 Hour race at the end of August.

That means a return to Japan, and a defection to the team that were my biggest rival in the 2017 SUPER GT Series when I was driving for Gulf Racing.

D’station are the Porsche Factory supported team in Japan, and a good performance at the 10 Hour could be my ticket back into SUPER

GT in 2019. Let’s see what kind of result we can get and where things will lead from there!

I’ll also complete the second half of the Blancpain GT Asia Series with top Ferrari team HubAuto Corsa, paired with my Aussie mate Nick Foster in a 488 GT3.

This is the newer model of the 458 GT3 I raced in the 2015 Australian GT Championship, and the car that’s been at the top of my bucket list since I finished my time with the Trass Family team.

Nick and I pair up at Fuji later in July, before two events in China at Shaghai and the new Ningbo Speedpark in September and October.

With three programmes on the cards now (and more to come) the latter half of 2018 is shaping up nicely.

Thanks to Redpaths for their continued faith and support, for over 10 years now! Gayle, Tony and the team have been in my corner through thick and thin, and I can’t thank them enough.

Follow all the latest updates by signing up to my mailing list at www.jonolester.com, or finding me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn.

Until next time Redpaths team!Jono Lester.

The year is shaping up nicely
