PLO and Terrorism

PLO started out as a Guerrilla organization. This group was ran by Yasser Arafat. Arafat called for the destruction of “The Zionist

Entity”

Munich Massacre

Occurred during the 1972 Olympics A grouped called Black September broke into where

the Israeli Olympic team was staying and held them hostage.

They requested the release of 234 Palestinians and non-Arabs jailed in Israel.

Aftermath of Munich

11 Israeli athletes were killed. 5 of the 8 Black September members were killed. The 3 remaining members were arrested, but later

released after an Israeli plane was hijacked. Ultimately, Israel went after the terrorists and killed

the other 3 who survived.

Ma'alot Massacre of 1974

3 Palestinian Terrorists entered an elementary school in Ma'alot Israel.

5 people were killed in the city prior to arriving to the school.

115 hostages were taken at the school. Terrorists demanded the release of 23 Palestinians. Student's would be killed if they did not release the

23 men.

Ma'alot Massacre

After 2 days a group stormed the school. The terrorists let off grenades and shot their guns at

the children. Ultimately, 25 hostages were killed. 22 children died and another 68 were injured. 3 terrorists were killed Nothing was resolved other then Israel responding

with attacks on Palestinian communities

Much like the Munich Massacre what was accomplished by this act of terrorism in Ma'alot?

PLO Raid in Tel Aviv-1975

Savoy Hotel in Tel Aviv 8 Palestinians landed by boat on the beaches. Guns were shot and they took over the hotel. It was requested that 20 prisoners to be released. 7 of the 8 Palestinians were killed. 8 hostages were killed The ship was captured and crew became prisoners.

PLO Raid in Tel Aviv-1978

A group of guerillas open fire on the streets. A bus was seized and people who tried to flee were

captured. The bus was ordered to head to Tel-Aviv. Police opened fire on the bus and the guerillas fired

back. The bus exploded killing 37 Israelis and 9

Palestinians while injuring 70 more.

Tel-Aviv Aftermath

Ultimately, Palestinians/PLO were unable to accomplish anything.

The only thing that happened was people died.

Looking at all 4 of these acts of Terrorism do you believe terrorism was able to get Palestine any closer to where they wanted to be? They wanted Israel to leave and the land given back to them.
