What is a God Parent? A God parent is one who assists their God Child to grow
in the faith. The God Parent needs to practice their faith, so they can help others
grow in the faith. You cannot give what you do not have. A God parent needs to
be at least 17 years old; they should be attending Mass every weekend and Holy
Days of Obligation; they need to have received Confirmation and are able to re-
ceive Holy Communion —therefore, a God Parent cannot be living together with
their boy friend or girl friend. If they are single they are not to be living together.
If they are married they are to be married in the Catholic Church. The God Parent
cannot be the Father or Mother of the child. If you have difficulty finding some-
one in your family to fulfill all these requirements, please talk to Fr. Dennis Mary.
He will assist you in finding a suitable God Parent. May Jesus bless you , your
family and vocation!

ST. ANN PARISH VISION STATEMENT
That Almighty God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - be glorified through the salvation of all
peoples in the Turtle Mountains. ST. ANN’S PARISH MISSION STATEMENT
As a Eucharistic family united in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary, under the maternal patron-age of Saint Ann, we strive to bring the healing Light of Christ to all in need of His Divine Love. Through our commitment to prayerful worship and works of mercy, we share our
Catholic Faith to inherit the Kingdom of God.
STEWARDSHIP MOMENT
And a voice came from the heavens, saying, “This is my be-loved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:17)
Two thoughts come to mind when reading this. 1st God, Our Father, gave us his only son to us so that we can have eternal life with him in heaven. Our Creator loves us too! 2nd, Jesus was obedient to his Father’s will, even to the point of death. Our own lives are pure gifts from God & meant to serve God and others.
Adoration Chapel News Need hours filled for Sunday 7-8pm. Monday 4 to 5, Thursday 3 to 4pm & 5-6 pm. Please consider filling these hours or 1 that is at your convenience. Thank You!
ANNOUNCEMENTS
“YEAR OF MARY FOR HEALING” : We are looking for lay people, Sisters and Priests to give a 20-30 min. talk once a month on an apparition or devotion of Our Mother Mary in one of the fifteen parishes that are participating in the “Year of Mary for Healing.” It would be fitting, for example, to have a discussion of Our Lady of Lourdes in February, sometime. If you are inter-ested in presenting, talk to Fr. Dennis Mary to schedule this event. EXODUS 90 : Please go to https://exodus90.com and discover a new Lenten journey of pray-er, asceticism and fraternity. Get rid of habits that enslave us, find true freedom in Christ, and strengthen your spiritual life and relationships. It takes 90 days to develop a good habit. Exo-dus 90 starts Jan. 13 thru Apr.12th (Easter Vigil); it will help us this Lent to move in discipline, sacrifice, and to focus most especially on Jesus Our Lord. Please investigate this. FAITH FORMATION is for all folks interested in growing in the faith, Wed. 7 pm in the Queen of Peace. We invite any parishioners who wants to grow in their faith, as well as all parents of CCD children and our Youth Ministry kids. PROLIFE PRAYER WARRIORS ARE GOING ON THE “MARCH FOR LIFE” IN WASHING-TON DC leave Jan.. 21 and return Jan. 25th. Talk with Fr. Dennis Mary if you’re interested in going with us. UNIVERSITY & COLLEGE STUDENTS ARE COMING FOR SPRING BREAK IN MAR. : If you have home projects such minor construction or painting or cleaning to be done. Please let BI or Roddy, our parish maintenance crew, know about future projects for the college kids. QUEST RETREAT : There will be a Quest retreat held on Feb. 28th & 29th, 2020 at St. Ann’s Parish. Quest is a spiritual retreat for students in Grades 7, 8, & 9. The retreatants will gather at 4pm on Feb. 28th and will finish with 5:30 pm Mass on Sat. Feb. 29th. Please contact our Youth ministers Denise Marcellais or Dusty Keplin or go to the Parish Office for an application. Space is limited to 30 children. The FIRST MEETING for Resource to help with Quest will be Sun. Jan. 12th at 2pm in the Youth Center. LENT STARTS IN A MONTH AN A HALF — FEB. 26th : We, as a Church, are planning to meet once a week, during the week not the weekend, for an hour and a half. We will gather to grow in our faith and belief of Jesus present in the Most Holy Eucharist. We will watch a video series for an hour once a week for the seven weeks of Lent, and then we will discuss ques-tions for a half hour afterward. Look for more details to come in the bulletin. ST. ANTHONY’S PARISH COUNCIL MEETING TUE. JAN. 14TH 6 PM. PASTOR’S NOTE : The Catholic church has a foundation on apostolic succession. At the Last Supper Jesus imparted His divine grace upon His Apostles making them priests and bishops. They were conformed to Christ crucified and shared in His ministry through the evan-gelical counsels of poverty, chastity and obedience. In one sense, these three councils are the three nails holding the priest to the cross, as he embraces the cross in his ministry. The Apostles laid hands on their successors and made them priests and bishops—imparting the same grace given to them by Jesus. These men did likewise. This same grace first received and then given has been shared in an unbroken chain through the millennia down to our pre-sent day. The priesthood of Christ, which all Catholic priests share in, is from our divine founder through apostolic succession. The other Protestant Churches do not have apostolic succession. Their ministers are not found in unbroken chain from to present day. This is how we Catholics, have the validity of the Sacraments of the Holy Eucharist and Confession. + Through the intercession of Our Mother Mary’s Immaculate Heart, may the good an gracious Lord bless you and your family in His holy and precious name - Father, Son & Holy Spirit, Fr. Dennis Mary, S.O.L.T.

Who can receive Holy Communion? Holy Communion is reserved for those who are unmarried and have re-ceived their First Holy Communion. It is also received by those married within the Catholic Church or has their marriage blessed (con-validated) by the Catholic Church. If you are a Catholic who is married outside the Catholic Church or is living together please refrain from receiving Holy Communion. Those who are married outside the Church please come forward and talk with the priest to have your marriage blessed in the Church, and have this obstacle removed so you can receive Holy Communion. Couples who use contraception with no desire to stop using contraception are also to refrain from receiving Holy Communion. If you desire to stop using contraception, come to Confession and let the priest help remove this obstacle of receiving Holy Communion. For one to receive Holy Communion we need to attend Mass every weekend and Holy Days of Obligation—we need to be in a state of grace with no mortal sin on our souls. We need to have gone to Confession recently, or at least once a year. Miss-ing Mass is a mortal sin, unless you have a good reason (ie, you were sick, taking care of someone who is sick or extreme weather). If you missed Mass, not for a good reason, go to Confession and confess this sin prior to receiv-
ing Holy Communion.
