Tool InstallationPressure regulators shall be used tolimit air pressure to the rated pressurewhere the supply pressure exceeds thetool’s rated pressure. Air hoses andlines shall be relieved of compressedair before being disconnected ordisjointed, unless there is automaticvalve closing protection at the joint beingseparated. Synthetic lubricants whichcan cause deterioration of elastomerseals shall not be used in air systems ofair tools.

Tool MaintenanceIt shall be the tool owner’s and/oremployer’s responsibility to assure thattools are maintained in a safe operatingcondition. Tool maintenance and repairshall be performed by authorized,trained, competent personnel. Toolsshall be disconnected from theircompressed air supply before repairsare attempted. Repairs shall beconsistent with the manufacturer’srecommended procedures. Tool, hosesand fittings shall be replaced if unsuit-able for safe operation. It shall be thetool owner’s and/or employer’s respon-sibility to keep required rating markingsand warnings on the tool in legiblecondition.
