The 40th reunion of the graduation of Kirkland College’s Charter Class coincides with the 35th reunion of the Class of ’77. It’s also the finale of the Hamilton College Bicentennial. Kirkland College’s legacy is prominent and evident. To celebrate, we’ve planned art exhibitions, book signings, a yoga class, musical performances and the chance to reconnect with friends from Kirkland and Hamilton. A hospitality suite located on the first floor of McEwen on the Kirkland Campus will be a central gathering spot throughout the weekend. It offers message boards, coffee/tea/cider, snacks, and a cozy place to catch up with friends. Accommodations: On-campus housing is available for a flat fee of $100 (covering one-three nights) when you register for a reunion package. Sheets, towels, a pillow and a blanket will be provided. On- campus housing is limited, so sign up early. If you prefer off-campus accommodations, Hamilton has reserved blocks of rooms at area hotels. Please contact the hotel directly by May 12. Specify that you are attending Hamilton College Reunions 2012. We encourage you to make your reservations quickly, as accommodations are limited. 5 p.m. Print Exhibition - Opening Reception Stop by List Hall’s second-floor atrium to view a selection of works from 1972 -2012 by Kirkland and Hamilton art students, as well as prints by Amy Buchholz ’80, Jake Muirhead ’86 and professors of art Bruce Muirhead P’ 86 and Bill Salzillo. The reception will include work from the morning’s printmaking class. Includes a performance by student and alumnae members of Special K, an all-female a cappella group founded by members of the class of ’79. Second Floor, List Hall.

10:30 a.m. Bicentennial Meeting of the Alumni Association Gather with us to mark Hamilton’s 200th anniversary at a Bicentennial meeting with President Joan Hinde Stewart, Alumni Association President Julie Ross ’84 and Chairman of the Board of Trustees A.G. Lafley Ralph Oman ’62, P’04 presents the half-century annalist letter, a tradition established in 1865. The Bell Ringer Award will be presented posthumously to Patricia Tolles Smalley P’93, who served as trustee and advocate for Kirkland College. The ceremony features the bicentennial film and feature remarks by Josie Jones ’12, a direct descendant of George Albion Calhoun, Hamilton’s first graduate. A parade led by the Bagpipes of the Mohawk Valley Frasers concludes at Dunham Green with an all-campus cookout. Wellin Hall

1 p.m. A Nature Walk in Root Glen Enjoy the quiet beauty of the glen on a walk led by Ernest Williams, the Christian A. Johnson Excellence in Teaching Professor of Biology. Novice and skilled naturalists are welcome. Meet at the gazebo behind the Anderson-Connell Alumni Center.

2 p.m. A Life in Politics Join U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack ’72, P’00 and Christie Bell Vilsack K’72, P’00, a 2012 candidate for U.S. representative for Iowa’s 4th congressional district, as they share insights gleaned from their years of public service. Tom served two terms as governor of Iowa, and Christie worked to raise awareness of literacy issues. Chapel

9 p.m. World-Class Jazz: The Nicki Parrott Trio Bassist/vocalist Nicki Parrott, returns to Hamilton with her warm tones and endearing personality. Awarded Best Jazz Vocal Album (2007, 2008) by Swing Journal, she performs regularly at the Iridium Jazz Club in New York City, where she was bassist and vocalist for Les Paul for 10 years. Recently, she teamed up with pianist Rossanno Sportiello and drummer Ed Metz to create an intriguing program covering jazz, the Great American Songbook and a touch of classical music. 3 p.m. Fruits of Victory – Multimedia Talk and Book Signing Elaine F. Weiss K’73 delivers an engaging, multimedia talk and book signing on the Woman’s Land Army of America of World War I, which organized and funded agricultural work while the men were called to service. Farmerettes were closely linked to the suffrage movement. Resembling the Kirkland pioneers in spirit and mission, some worked the apple orchards of N.Y. state. Weiss’ presentation includes poetry, song and a lively discussion of groundbreaking advances in women’s work roles and the struggle for equal pay. Kirner-Johnson 109

4 p.m. Kirkland Pioneers: In Their Own Words Join Kirkland alumnae for an impromptu discussion of their time at Kirkland and the paths their lives have taken. The Kirkland Pioneers Project will be on display digitally and physically in List and near Café Opus throughout the weekend. List 106
