The math pages and “Home Link” books on your child’s desk are for you to take home. They can be kept at home for nightly homework.

A little about me…..

Homework

• Should take no longer than 15-30 minutes. • Reading/Spelling, or Math Home Link pages

(most days), math calendar, Show and Tell…

• Homework folders also carry school news. • Students are expected to read or to be read

to for 15 minutes every night. • Please go over the homework with your

child each night and have them correct any mistakes.

Homework Tips• A routine• A quiet area to work with adequate

lighting• A desk, table, or hard surface to write on• Supply of pencils, crayons, and erasers• Place to keep word cards / math tools

Homework Incentive

Starting in October, your child will have the opportunity to earn a

homework pass.

At the end of each month, those students who have completed all homework assignments for the

month will be awarded a homework pass to be used at their leisure.

• Home link book will be sent home tonight for you to keep AT HOME.

• Homework assignments will be on the classroom calendar sent home weekly.

• It is important for you to wait until the assigned night to complete the homework.

• Tear the page out of the book and send it to school the following morning.

• Password – sent home on small card

• Please encourage use of the program. In the past, a lanyard was worn by the “Player of the Day” who earned the most stickers.

Marble JarEarned as a class. If every student is still on green at the end

of the day, the class will earn a marble. When the marble jar is full, the class will

earn a reward such as: extra recess, homework passes, special free time…

Class Mascot – Tom• Our Class Mascot, Tom, will play an important role in our

classroom. He not only will assist Mrs. Stoddart in picking role model students, but he will also help the students improve their writing and speaking skills.

– Every Friday, a child will be chosen to take Tom home for the weekend!

– This student will have the opportunity to care for and share him with their family for the entire weekend. The student will be responsible to record in the notebook provided what they did with Tom for the weekend.

– Family involvement is highly encouraged with this project. The student will come back to school on Monday and share with the class what he/she did with Tom. My goal is the students will be able to write a few sentences on their own about their experiences, and they will be able to speak in front of their peers, with ease.

Lunch Accounts Lunch costs - $2.40 Please send money in an envelope or bag

LABELED with child’s name and “Mrs. Stoddart.”

You can also put money into your child’s account using www.myschoolbucks.com. This avoids delays and confusion.

Students should have learned their lunch codes, and they will be paying for lunch in the cafeteria on their own.

Dismissal

• We are not permitted to change dismissal procedures for any child without a written form.

• Forms are available in the office.

• Phone calls/email are no longer used because messages can become confused and identity cannot be verified.

Pictures

• Please make a note on the information card if you prefer no pictures of your child in the hallway or on my website.

• No names are listed with pictures on website.
