PLCC Gymnastics, Cheer and Dance – PLCC (formerly Patterson Lakes Community Centre Gymnastics Club) is a not-for-profit community club. We provide a variety of programs for ages 18 months through to adult. The club is affiliated with our national governing body, Gymnastics Australia, and also the Australian All Star Cheerleading Federation (AASCF). PLCC is a professionally run club, operating through the support of a Committee of Management, Head Coach and an Administrative team in a recently renovated facility with brand new equipment.

PLCC encourages families to enjoy and explore a variety of our programs on offer. We understand that athletes can have multiple interests so our classes have been designed with multiple programs in mind. Our programs are always growing with new streams consistently explored to address our community’s needs. Currently we are offering:
GYMNASTICS
GymSkills Levels Program (GSLP) – Recreational Gymnastics
PLCC has a unique recreational gymnastics program that was developed in 2017 by our Head Coach. The program is designed for children aged 5 to 18 years. The GSLP is a progressive level based program designed to advance children of all ages and abilities, in a fun, supportive and rewarding environment. These classes run for 1 hour on most nights of the week.
As there are multiple GSLP classes running at the same time, gymnasts will be placed into groups based off a combination of their ability level and age.
If a child appears to be more advanced, they will be offered a position in an advanced GSLP class or invited to join our competitive Gymstar program. This can occur at any point throughout the year.
Gymstar – Competitive Gymnastics
Our Pre Squad Development Program is designed for our younger athletes who show a level of increased skill development, strength and flexibility. It is also for athletes who show great determination and willingness to advance their personal development. This a transition program to both mentally and physically prepare these athletes to compete in the future. It is a stepping stone into our Gymstar Competitive program.
Note: This class is an invitation only program
Tumble Classes
Ninja Academy
Pre Squad Development Program – Non Competitive Gymnastics
The Gymstar program is a semi competitive program designed for Gymnasts who train limited hours, and prefer a fun and friendly competition environment. Our Gymstar program is performance based by selection only. Selection is undertaken by the Head Coach in collaboration with the Gymstar coaching staff. Gymnasts will be allocated to a class through the assessment of skill and not age. Athletes in this program will compete in three external competitions and one internal competition each year.
Note: This class is an invitation only program
Ninja Academy is program that has been designed for male athletes. It is a combination of Gymnastics fundamentals infused with elements of Parkour and Martial Arts. Within these classes, athletes will have the opportunity to jump, run, climb and develop strength.
Tumble classes train on floor and vaulting apparatus working through beginner to advanced level tumbling skills. These skills include handstands, cartwheels, walkovers, rolls, handsprings and saltos.
CHEERLEADING
Cheerleading
PLCC introduced a new Cheerleading program in 2017 due to the growing interest surrounding this emerging sport. Cheerleading is a dynamic sport that embodies elements of gymnastics, dance, tumbling and acrobatic stunts. Our Cheerleaders work through their stunting and tumbling throughout the year in preparation for their final end-of-year routine performance or competitions.
Our recreational Cheerleading classes invite athletes of all ages and abilities to train together in a fun and inclusive team environment. These classes are designed to help our athletes get fit and make new friends.
The competitive world of Cheerleading divides teams into levels based upon age and abilities. Athletes within this program are expected to fulfil their commitment requirements and train consistently.
DANCE
Lyrical / Contemporary
Hip Hop
Jazz
Technique
Pom (Cheer Dance)
Within this style of dance, Pom poms must be used for 80% of a routine. These routines are choreographed using clean and sharp motions to create strong and aesthetically pleasing visual effects. Dance technical elements are also included within this dance style, such as jumps, turns, lifts and acrobatic tricks.
Hip Hop is a fun, high energy street dance style. Choreography focuses on body isolations, rhythm and musical interpretation. A hip hop routine will usually include either group or individual tricks with an emphasis on execution.
Lyrical routines are choreographed to compliment the lyric and rhythmic value of a piece of music. The movements are expressive, focussing on body placement, uniformity, communication and technical skills.
PLCC have created a Technique Dance Program that is divided into Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels. This class works on technical dance skills and tricks that overflow across all dance styles. These skills include jumps, turns, lifts and acrobatic tumbling tricks.
A jazz routine is dependent on execution, style and highly energetic choreography. They incorporate stylised dance movements with jumps, turns and group work.
Note: PLCC currently combine our Jazz classes into our Pom classes.
• Athletes must participate in their correct age divisions, unless invited to participate in an older age group by the head coach.
• All athletes must participate in the end of year showcase. • All competitive classes are compulsory and athletes must maintain a 90% attendance rate in order to participate in a
competitive program. Failure to meet these expectations may result in withdrawal from a team.

ANNUAL SHOWCASE
PLCC offers a variety of internal club events throughout the year that amplify our sense of community. These events provide us the opportunity to showcase our club spirit and foster athlete friendships and positive memories.
We are proud to receive support from our members / friends and families of the PLCC community who form our Parents and Friends Committee (PFC).
PLCC hosts an annual in-house friendly competition for all of our gymnastics athletes. The focus of this event is participation with all competitors being awarded a participation certificate. Ribbons are also awarded for individual scores on every apparatus. This is a great opportunity for athletes to show off what they have been learning in classes to friends and family.
The club hosts an annual Awards Night at the Patterson Lakes Community Centre. This is a ticketed event with finger food and drink provided on the night. The purpose of this event is to celebrate the success of each year. All perpetual trophies and class certificates will be presented at this event. Attendance is not compulsory but highly recommended in case the athlete receives an award.
Our Dress Rehearsal & Photo Day is compulsory for all PLCC athletes. The purpose of this event is to ensure that all athletes are prepared for the showcase and are confident with their routines. This is a CLOSED REHEARSAL for athletes only. PLCC secures a professional photographer for this event to capture elegant photos of our athletes that are available for purchase.
DRESS REHEARSAL & PHOTO DAY
The PLCC Choreography Talent Show is open to athletes in any of the club’s programs (Gymnastics, Cheerleading and Dance). This event allows our athletes to create their own routines either on their own, in a duo/trio or a small group. Routines can be Gymnastics, Cheer or any dance style. The highest scoring routines for each category are then invited to perform their routine in the end of year Showcase.
At PLCC, we are proud to host a large Annual Showcase to display all of our club’s programs. This event is performed on a theatre stage with costumes that are hired from the club. Each class will learn group floor routines and perform them on stage in front of friends, family and the PLCC community.
PARENTS & FRIENDS COMMITTEE (PFC)
PLCC is honoured to commence a new Parents & Friends Committee in 2018. This will act as a subcommittee who will report to the centre’s committee. They represent the interests of the PLCC Gymnastics Cheer and Dance club. The purpose of this committee is to support the club through assisting with planning, implementing and reflecting on club activities and events. The PFC are a valuable support system to the club and are fundamental to creating a strong sense of community.
