Editorial

It's here finally - the second issue of our Class "quarterly" Newsletter. Sorry for the delay, but as a gratis publication, it's compilation is subject to my availability, creativity and the invaluable support of other classmates, with their inspired contributions. As such, I would like to thank Frederick Stokes-Thompson, Annika Stokes-Thompson (assisted by Bob Blunden), Tony Moore and Mrs Lola Brown for the articles they have contributed to this issue. It is truly very much appreciated. I am delighted to report that feedback has indicated that the inaugural issue was well received. Hopefully, all 92 classmates (found so far) have now received the various lists giving them all known student names from 1969.

In keeping with this newsletter's aim, this issue updates classmates on progress on the important project "Finding all 69ers", with names of those recently found, as well as interesting and humorous insights into our unique past dramatic activities at EHS, past historical events, plus a range of statistical analysis of our ever growing "Band of Brothers & Sisters". Please remember that this is the Class's newsletter and a chance for fellow classmates to submit short articles to let others know what you are doing, have achieved or experienced, or even your favourite memories from EHS, if you have any!! The next issue is planned for despatch by the end of Sep 2016. Your assistance with any articles, will help lessen the workload. I hope you enjoy Issue No 2, which I believe is better than No1 and has set the bar at a higher level.

Those Recently Found

By March 2016, a total of 79 classmates had been found, following the 55th Annual EHS School Reunion on 27 Feb 16. We now have located 92 classmates. The following 18 names have either been added to the Class List or had contact details recently updated. They are:

1. Karl Ademek - (Spent two terms in Matric 1969 - Not on Class lists - found by ad in Sunday Mail)2. Clive Arnold - (reported in Supplement)3. Anne Holland - (reported in Supplement)4. Anthea James (nee Featherstone) - (new address found by ad in Sunday Mail)5. Stephen Gray - (found by Murray James)6. Robert Fiddler - (told by couple from 55th Reunion)7. Linda Pearson (nee Wright) - (found by Sue Hall?)8. William Reid - (found by ad in Sunday Mail)9. Pam Lambert (nee Roberts) - (found by Linda (Wright) Pearson)10. John Cooper - (found by Barry Powell)11. Christina Shepherd - (found by Janet Rowe)12. Jean-Pierre Kelly - (found by Clive Arnold)13. Derek Mansell - (reported by Tony Moore)14. Pamela Quinlivan - (known by Anthea James)15. Matthew Duldig - (found by Anthea James)16. Mr Gordon Cawrse - (Leaving Teacher)17. Mr Alan Simmonds.-.(Geog/Hist Teacher)18. John Benzie - (updated by Terry Beaton)

Deceased

Regretfully, it is advised that Robert Fiddler deceased at his home about April of this year. He had retired from teaching in Pt Augusta and had been living nearby in Wilmington. I am grateful to Peter & Helen Chatfield, also past EHS students living in Wilmington, for seeking out Robert and conveying the sad news. Tony Moore has advised

that Derek Mansell died in a car crash in 2007. We now have had eight (8) classmates pass away. All too young. Anthea (Featherstone) James has advised the sad passing of Mr Allan Simmonds, a few years ago from prostate cancer. He was only in his early 70s.

No Longer Missing

For those wishing to help find the MIAs, you can cross off the following names listed as "Missing in Action" on page 2 of the Supplement:

1. James Brown - (7)(entered by error - sorry Jim)2. John R. Cooper (14)3. Brian Duldig (18)4. Robert Fiddler (20)5. Pamela (Quinlivan) Economos (57)6. William Reid (59)7. Pam (Roberts) Lambert (63)8. Linda (Wright) Pearson (71)

Contact Details Updated

On page 6 of Issue No 1 of the Newsletter, you can do the same with the following names from those lost since the 30th reunion:

1. Clive Arnold (1)2. John Cooper (6)3. Stephen Gray (10)4. Jean-Pierre Kerry (16)5. Derek Mansell (18)6. Christina Shepherd (28)

However, this means we still have 32 who have slipped from the radar since 1999. After all the hard work by Bob Blunden and his team, it is amazing that so many have moved in 20 years. However, it would be good to locate the following over this next period:

Rosemary (Camp) Olijnik, Michael Irwin, Chris Geisler, Richard Morriss, Priscilla Hunt, Libby (Streich) Philips, Ann Roselt, Jenny Blake, Graeme Rance, Bernie (Nichels) Waylan, Kym Prendergast, Diane (Soult) Lindsay, Brian Charman, June (Frost) Baker and Debbie (Cook) McCullock.

The Sunday Mail Article

Due to the initiative of Frederick Stokes-Thompson submitting an article to The Sunday Mail's "We Can Help You" segment", we have found three more classmates directly - (William Reid, Anthea (Featherstone) James and Karl Ademek) and indirectly an additional two (Pamela (Quinlivan) Economos and Brian Duldig). Karl Ademak is a unique coop, as he wasn't even on the original list of student names we started with back in January (2016), compiled by Frederick from EHS records over 20 years ago. The article below appeared on 29 Jun 16, under the heading "Reunions":

"1969 Year 12 Elizabeth High School 50-year reunion. A committee from that year is planning a reunion for 2016 and trying to contact as many 1969 Year 12 students". Frederick Thompson [email protected]

Obviously our 50th Anniversary Reunion will be held in 2019, but cleverly Frederick said 2016, otherwise the paper would not have printed his request so early and we would not have had such a beneficial outcome. Well done Frederick!!

Five Degrees of Separation

They say that there are only "five degrees of separation" between all of us. I recently came across such an case relating to our class. How many of you knew that Geoff Hudson has a twin brother, called Robert. I certainly didn't. It was only when studying photos from the 55th School Reunion, that I noticed a strong resemblance between Geoff and a friend from Army days, that I knew as "Rocky" Hudson. An quick email to Geoff confirmed that "Rocky" was in fact his twin brother.

It seems that whilst Geoff attend EHS, I think Robert attended Elizabeth Tech, as he was trade minded. He later joined the Army as an apprentice (motor mechanic?) and worked his way through the ranks in his trade to Warrant Officer. The Army then recognised his ability with planning & personnel management and granted him a Prescribed Service Commission, as a Captain. This was when Rocky and I first met, whilst attending courses at the RAEME Training Centre at Bandiana, on the outskirts of Wodonga. This

would have been at least six years after I had known Geoff at EHS in 1969. Two very different worlds (EHS & Army) brought together by interesting circumstances.

Recollections of "A Working Girl’s Secret"!!by Frederick Stokes-Thompson

Terry (he who must be obeyed!) Beaton had ‘asked’ that I write a recollection of the 1968 Elizabeth High School’s production of the melodrama "A Working Girl’s Secret". The show was held in Term 2 (1968) and was staged at the Shedley Theatre. If I remember correctly, the show ran for a total of three performances (Friday and Saturday night and a matinee on Saturday afternoon). Far too short in my opinion. Indeed I vividly recall someone calling for a vote at the end of the last show, that we should “take it on the road!”. Which all overwhelmingly agreed. But alas, Mr Bernard held power of veto.

So, what was the show all about? Loosely adapted from Samuel French’s play "Pure as the driven snow or A working girl’s secret", the show sees the heroine, Purity White (Michelle Ratcliffe) working as a maid at an inn owned by the O'Shaunessys (Ann Turner & Tony Porter). Purity (bless her) has fallen in love with the hero, Leander Oakheart (Frederick Thompson - I mean who wouldn't?), who works in the local pickle factory. A devious character by the name of Mortimer Foulways (Kevin Bond) is pursuing Purity, trying to win her hand (always the hand - what's wrong with the rest of her? I ask) by fair means or foul. As normal for the black hearted type, he prefers the foul, using a process of double dealing and double crossing, all with the help of his faithful sidekick Fred Thudde (John McFadyen).

To cut a long story short, the hero sorts out the villains and gets the girl, all whilst being rudely interrupted by singing from the "Sirens of Song", other people who had lines to deliver, an interval and lots of peanut tossing from the audience. You just had to be there - and I hope you were!!. Oh, and Purity's secret is discovered, which

miraculously brings her great wealth and happiness with Leander. (Of which, I didn't see a penny).

Frederick can easily be picked out from this scene photo.

“What made the show so memorable and worthy, so that it should have been foisted onto the rest of the world?” you ask!!. Well, the following quote by Vic Pellen in the Elizabeth High School Silver Jubilee 1961 – 1986 publication, should provide a hint to the answer: “Kevin Bond was a superb Mortimer Foulways, only just foiled by Fred Thompson as Leander Oakheart (Never, in the author’s opinion, has there been a better casting); and thus Purity White (Michelle Ratcliffe) was saved in the nick of time.” (p. 24). Now, I do not provide this quote because of who is mentioned (ahem!!) but purely because of the sense of obvious admiration and pleasure that an "unbiased" member of the public gained out of seeing the production. I think that we could have also spread that joy amongst the general populous, if given the chance!

Needless to say, I and the cast and crew, had a great time in rehearsals, all thanks to everybody's good naturedness and the sense of comradery between us all, as well as the excellent support and input from Mr Barnard (the school’s drama teacher and Director) and teachers L. Dawson, R North, Leo Davis., W. Holdsworth, Vic Pellen, M. Willmer, L. Moxon, S. Dawson and Peter Gent. A special mention goes out to Mike Speers, who (if I remember correctly) was not a teacher at the school, but a member of Adelaide’s Old Music Hall

establishment and provided a great deal of his time and talents with set design and costuming.

The "Sirens of Song"

The only connection that I can see between the show and the ’69 year, is that a number of the cast and crew (*) went on to the ’69 year. This is also the case for those who in 1968, were part of the two other productions in that year: Shakespeare’s Macbeth – held in the school hall, and Mateo Falcone, which took out the "Best Play Award" at the Concours D’art Dramatique that year. Students involved in the melodrama were:

Student Cast(Elvira O' Shannessy) - Ann Turner, (Seamus O'Shaunessy) - Tony Porter, (Mrs Upson-Vanderbilt) - Susan Wiley*, (Dymhana Upson-V) - Jenny Smith, (Leander Oakheart) - Fred Thompson*, (Purity White) - Michelle Ratcliffe, (Mortimer Foulways) - Kevin Bond, (Fred Thudde) - John McFadyen*, (Andrew Wilfred) - Gordon McPherson*, (Omigene Wilfred) - Jackie Creevy, (Mrs Faith Hogue) - Jenny Nicholls, (Lettice Hart) - Jenny Byrne, (Lavinia

Foulways) - Elizabeth Parker*, (The Sirens of Song) - Jo Amos, Anne Dowey, Carolyn Hayles, Jill Payne, Jan Smedley, Jenny Swincer, and Ann Wolfendale, (Properties & Prompt) - Mary Carabott.

My, what a talented bunch we were!! With all of that and all of the other students who were involved in sports in ’68, no wonder 1969 was such a great year.

Apologies to those whom I omitted… it was either completely unintentional or that I failed to receive my $5.00 per head agent’s fee from them in time.

It’s a pity that there were no theatre productions in 1969, for we were a talented lot. However, I am sure there were a number of dramas and I look forward to hearing about those from other ‘69ers.

A Remarkable Group

In line with Frederick's comment, about the Class of '69 being a remarkable bunch, not only have the majority gone on to raise families and nurture them through their own dramas at high schools, but we have also had at least one receive a national honour - Loretta Marron (OAM - for services to health). As for education, a majority went on to achieve Bachelor degrees. Note: I have just recently heard after 47 years, that only three out of the entire 5D class matriculated in 1969. But we had a good time! Others like myself, tried again in 1970 with mixed success.

A number of '69ers went on to gain Masters - one in the UK (Terry Beaton), but I am unsure whether anyone completed PhDs. (If so, could you please let me know, so we can set the record straight).

Education - At this stage, it is my belief that at least eighteen (18) '69ers chose a career in Education, of which some became School Principals (*). They are: Jenny Blake, Mike Coad, Gordon Copland, Sandy Crawford*, Anthea (Featherstone) James*, Robert Fiddler, Priscilla Hunt*, David McCall, John McFadyen, Gordon McPherson, Mark Ortlieb, Sue Pinnock*, Sean Reilly, Anne (Stokes)-Thompson, Robert Tidd, Christina (Stanojevic) Emblem and Linda (Wright) Pearson.

Sport - You may remember that our Senior Boys' Hockey Team, under the leadership and talent of John Berry and Stewart Ogston, were undefeated in 1969 and ended up as Zone Premiers. The team included the following '69ers': John Berry (Capt), Stewart Ogston (VC), Terry Beaton, Michael Coad, Barry Powell and Jonathon Roberts. At this year's 55th Reunion, John Berry remarked how special this achievement was for him. John didn't give up playing hockey until aged 60. He played Veteran

"Over 40s" Nationals for 4 years, and one year "Over 45s" as playing coach.

The 1969 Premiership Hockey Team

Both Stephen Gray and Gordon McIntyre were selected in the State U-18 Rugby side. John Benzie and Linden Fairclough were two outstanding Aussie Rules footballers and made the State Combined High Schools Team. Linden went on to play for Central Districts until a serious knee injury put a stop to his football career. Graeme Rance made the State Baseball team in 1969.

Stephen Gray & Gordon McPherson

We have had a number of State and National Champions, and at least one Commonwealth Games Representative (Terry Beaton-Decathlon, Christchurch 1974). Steve Davis has only recently retired after an illustrious career as an International Cricket Umpire and now has a position with the English Cricket Board in London. Brian Duldig has recently been appointed

Community Football Manager for SANFL and William Reid has been an accredited AFL Goal Umpire for 10 years.

Terry (LHS) helping a Jamaican 200m sprinter (with a torn hamstring) from the track at QE2 Stadium, Christchurch.

Mike Bull (Nth Ireland) (RHS) won the Decathlon Gold Medal.

John Benzie and Linden Fairclough

Other Employment - It seems that at least four 69ers went into the Medical Science profession being: Carolyn (Maudslay) Beaton, Frederick Thompson, Jessica (Pellen) Tyndall and Ramona (Wostikow) Peacock.

Five went into Defence, two into the Army (Heino von Minden & Terry Beaton) and two in the RAAF (Stephen Gray & Murray James). It is not known if Glen Campbell followed his father into the RAAF. Peter Clarke joined the Navy then after his tenure, worked with the Police, as also did Mark Tuckwell in both NSW and NT.

At least three went into the IT world - Bob Blunden, Anne (Davey) Palmer and Loretta Marron. Bob utilised his IT with his qualifications in Biochemistry and Haematology to become involved with laboratory data systems. Whilst Jean-Pierre Kelly became a renowned Chef and Tony Moore trod the theatrical floorboards.

Having done Civil Engineering at Duntroon, I do recall Les Hall telling me later that he, John van Dongan, and two others from EHS, completed their degrees at Adelaide Uni and had to seek alternative careers, due to the glut of civil engineers in the mid-1970s. John became a fireman and Les went into agricultural watering systems. William Reid advised that he spent a commendable 40 years with the PMG/Aust Post. Whilst others have had a multi-skilled career, with some caring for ailing husbands over a number of years.

The 30th Reunion (1999)by Annika Stokes-Thompson

As the last year of the last decade of the 20th Century approached, a small group of dedicated and enthusiastic people reflected on the final year of the 1960s. Sean Reilly, Bob Blunden, Frederick Stokes-Thompson, John Eyre and Gordon McPherson hatched the plan for a 30th year reunion of the 1969 Elizabeth High School Matriculation students.

Many long hours were spent searching for people via phone books, internet and word of mouth. Great successes included Geoff Hudson finding Digby Shaw - someone no one had seen since 1969. Maureen London (nee Haynes) was finally found by Bob driving to Jamestown and locating her uncle. All this - only to find out later that he and Maureen shared a common friend! Over the months the list of contacts grew as did the enthusiasm from all for a reunion.

Careful thought and planning went into deciding upon a venue, format and entertainment. An atmosphere of fun and warmth, which put people at ease and encouraged them to talk and reminisce was the aim.

The date was set at Saturday, 2 October 1969 and the venue chosen was the restaurant at Elizabeth Motel, which we were able to have to ourselves. The size was perfect for the thirty (30) '69ers, twenty (20) partners and four (4) staff that attended. It was a seated affair with an evening meal. The room was decorated in the school's colours of maroon and gold and this, together with a slideshow of images from 1969 and music of the era took us back nicely. There were quizzes on the tables to entertain and provide talking points.

In between each of the courses there were presentations, including John Eyre reminding us just what an historic year 1969 had been, and Bob showing how far we had spread around Australia and the world. Don McDonald also gave an entertaining speech on how he became headmaster, after really wanting to go to Brighton High. Messages were read out from people who had been found, but were unable to attend.

It was a night filled with fun and laughter ending after midnight. If any had approached attending the reunion with concerns about measuring up or finding things to talk about, these were well allayed. On reflection one of the lasting impressions of the night, was how easy it was to feel 17 again! Will the fiftieth reunion work the same magic? We await with anticipation.

Happy Birthday!!!

Since the inaugural newsletter was despatched, a great number of our classmates have had birthdays. So we would like to wish a "Very Happy Belated Birthday" to:

Out of This World

How many of you realised that on the 17th July 2016, the world celebrated the 47th anniversary of "Man Landing on the Moon" when "The Eagle" touched down and Neil Armstrong stepped onto the lunar surface. The school was given the afternoon off to watch this history making event, telecasted to the world from NASA. Where were you on this significant afternoon in 1969?

Who am I?

I was born in Leeds on 28 Nov 1952 and came out to South Australia about 1958, due to my father's work at Woomera. I was in 1A1 at EHS in 1965. I enjoyed reading, theatre and science.

50th Reunion in 2019

In line with the previous aims of the 30th Reunion, it is proposed to hold the 50th Reunion at a venue where the group can have a dedicated area, to sit comfortably, chat and mingle (as few of us can stand for long periods these days). As for timing - well as usually everybody is committed or busy with family at the beginning and end of each year, it is therefore proposed to hold the reunion mid-year. Which therefore lends itself to us utilizing the ever growing popularity for such functions and for the 50th Reunion to be held as a "Christmas in July" at one of the local Community Clubs or venues; that will cater a traditional festive feast, provide drinks at reasonable prices, has good parking and allows us to set-up with memorabilia to decorate the allocated and closed off area.

An preliminary enquiry at the Paradise Gardens Community Club, indicated that they could do such a function for us and also provide a small group for background music, for a cost of around $45 per head (drinks not included). Naturally prices in three years time will be higher. Feedback from several '69s to the proposal has been most

supportive to the concept. So please set aside July 2019 for the proposed date for the 50th Reunion. Actual final dates will be advised in early 2019.

"Shakespeare's Scottish Play - 1968"by Tony Moore

Ma…. (“Don’t say it, it's bad luck. Call it the Scottish play, oh and the lead character, should only be called the Thane.”).

After the publication of the first newsletter, Terry asked me to write a piece about the school's 1968 production of the Scottish Play. After all I played Banquo, so you’d imagine I would remember. I of course immediately forgot, until I received his e-mail today. So here are the memories I have of the show, vague … very vague!!. I am pretty sure I have a copy of the program somewhere in one of the boxes of theatre memorabilia collected by my mother and I. But only God knows which one, it's in the attic somewhere.

I think that Chris Jeremy and Carolyn Maudslay approached Mrs Brown about putting this on as a student production. That meant that they would direct the play between them, with Mrs Brown as an advisor. This had never happened before and I think may have caused much discussion in the staff room. Mrs Brown seemed confident that we would all behave and cause no problems for her and the school. I guess she was more or less right. I remember a few shenanigans, but nothing that caused any headlines.

So as I said I played Banquo. I don’t remember an audition, but I guess that there was one. Rob Lock was "the Thane" and Gordon MacPherson played Donalbain, with Colin George as "Macduff". Anne Stokes played "Lady M". I don’t really remember any of the rest of the cast., oh except that Peter Clarke played "the Doctor". (Does anyone know what happened to him. He didn’t go on to Matric but joined the Navy and then when he finished his stint there he went to work for the Police as a civilian technician. Married Marianne Van Hoof. But I digress).

We rehearsed in the junior school stage room, which is where we would also perform. Gradually extra bits of staging turned up created I expect by Mr Rabbitt and Mr Chinner in the woodwork shop. I also don’t remember who did the art work and painting and who costumed the show. I

remember wearing (as the ghost of Banquo) a sort of white cloak made of some cheap silk substitute, it gradually got more and more blood-soaked as the dress rehearsals and performances pushed on.

(Here-in lies a tale. I think it was on the second to last performance I had been liberally doused in fake gore by the people doing make -up and I rushed away after the show to get home, can’t remember why. Anyway, I hadn’t cleaned my face properly. I rushed off on my old Lambretta which promptly broke down halfway home. I pushed it up the hill to my place (not a serious hill but I was pushing a scooter.) I got home and realised I couldn’t find my keys. So I knocked on the door. There I was quite exhausted leaning up against the wall with the tracks of fake blood running down my face and my sister opened the door. She saw what appeared to be someone who had had an accident and screamed and fainted.)

As for performances, well, I remember Ann Stokes looking stunning in a dark wig. Fantastic look for "the Lady". I remember Rob Lock knocking Gordon off the stage during the fight scene one night and Mr Olijnyk doing the lights. I can’t remember what lights he used, but looking into the side room one night, I saw him and a couple of his Physics students, operating lighting using the old potentiometers from the Physics labs. They were overheating and the paint was burning off. It was like a scene from old Hogarth woodprints.

After the last night we had a cast party at Chris Jeremy’s place in Elizabeth Grove. As it was a school production, there was a strict no alcohol rule (we were all underage). As it happened my mother was having a cast party only a couple of streets away. I think it was “Kiss Me Kate”, she had been in. After a while Peter Clarke and I went round to that cast party. We found some Vodka and some orange juice and got truly slammed. I remember waking Derek Mansell up at 1am (he lived very close as well) and him driving me home. Peter and I walked round to Derek’s place keeping each other from falling down and kept dropping cigarettes and having great difficulties picking

them up. Don’t remember what happened to Peter that night. The next morning Mum vacuumed on Sunday morning (unheard of) and paid especial attention to the floor outside my room.

Well, that production of the Scottish Play was not my first foray into theatre, but it may have been my first speaking role of any size. It seems odd that a lifetime commitment to the performing arts had such a doubtful start.

From Editor -To help out Tony, the 1968 EHS Yearbook lists the cast and crew - thirty three (33) '69ers were incredibly involved with production of this Scottish Play. They are:

Unique Event in School's History

It is known that the production of this Elizabethan play, was one of Mrs Brown's cherished moments of her illustrious teaching career. Looking at the names highlights its truly unique nature and one that belongs to our group of students. In the next

issue, by courtesy of Mrs Brown, you will be able to read what a "Special Writer" thought about the production and the performances by various students written in a newspaper article.1967 EHS Play - "Taming of the Shrew"

A number of '69ers were also previously involved in the production of the 'Taming of The Shrew", including Clive Arnold and Sue Wylie, presented at the Shedley Theatre by EHS Leaving students from 21-23 August 1967. It was produced again by Mr L. Barnard. Most of us would have been in Intermediate at the time. A report on this light "Elizabethan" comedy will be presented in a future issue. With the improved reputation of the old school under the new name of "Playford International College" it would be interesting to find out if they have ventured back into the realm of school drama productions again.

Reunions v Master Class List

It is appreciated that reunions are not everybody's "cup of tea". In fact, some '69ers have already expressed that they are not interested in attending or having any interaction with Class activities and that is their choice. However, that doesn't stop them from being a member of the "Class of 1969" and hopefully having their details entered into the Master Class List. So if you find an MIA, please try to at least encourage them to contact me to have their details recorded, so that information can be sent to them, via the Class Newsletter. Who knows in time, they might change their minds.

Facebook Sites

I have been asked to correct my earlier advice about the "Elizabeth High School Scholars - South Australia" Facebook site. Despite its similar name, it is not operated by the "Elizabeth High School Old Scholars Association". In fact, it is not even affiliated with the EHSOSA. Instead it is a personal site instigated by Tracy-Ann Cope, who had done a lot of work in the past to find old scholars of EHS. The other Facebook site that was mentioned "Elizabeth High School 69ers" is specifically for the

Class of '69 and has been instigated for members of our class to exchange information. Both Ramona (Wostikow) Peacock and Bob Blunden, as the sites creators, control who accesses and what is entered onto the site as the administrators.

Should you wish to register your details with the EHSOSA, please contact Moya Robinson as per page 5 of Issue No 1. The Committee of the EHSOSA works hard to raise funds and find sponsorship, so that they can organise and conduct the annual school reunions.

Decimalisation (Metrication)- 1966

Do you remember that when we were doing Matriculation, Australia was only in its third year of complete metrication. A feat that has still not yet been accomplished by the Brits or Americans.

How many still remember the jingle sung by Dollar Bill for the decimalisation of our currency:

"In come the dollars, in come the cents, to replacethe pounds, and the shillings and the pence, be prepared folks when the coins begin to mix, on the fourteenth of February 1966"
