This is a HORDES-only event that features the Trollblood, Circle Orboros, Skorne, Legion of Everblight, and Minion armies. This event coincides with the release of HORDES: Exigence and allows players to play multiple games over the course of the day in a casual, free-play environment. Note: Event Organizers can allow WARMACHINE armies in a HORDES: Exigence release event at their discretion, but players should note that the awards for this event are designed for HORDES. Be sure to check with your Event Organizer if you are considering playing WARMACHINE in this HORDES event. PLAYER RESPONSIBILITIES Players participating in a HORDES: Exigence release event must bring their own models, stat cards, dice, measuring devices, markers, tokens, and templates. The Event Organizer (EO) must approve any printed media used to track damage. Players should check with the EO before the event begins if they think any rules questions might arise based on their armies. SPORTSMANSHIP AND RULES DISPUTES The objective of organized play is for everyone to have a good time. Players should remain courteous and patient with their opponents and the EO. Players must accept all rulings made by the EO whether or not they agree. The EO always has the final word on rules questions or debates. We assume all players are good sports who understand fair play. If a dispute arises, call an EO for assistance. Players will remain mature, polite, and fair to their opponents. Failure to do so will result in immediate disqualification. An EO can eject a player for any incident he deems unsporting. This includes but is not limited to offensive or abusive conduct, bullying, cheating, repeated rules arguments, and stalling game play. If you suspect a player is stalling, call the EO to monitor play. ® ®

PLAYER RESPONSIBILITIESPlayers participating in a HORDES: Exigence release event must bring their own models, stat cards, dice, measuring devices, markers, tokens, and templates. The Event Organizer (EO) must approve any printed media used to track damage.

Players should check with the EO before the event begins if they think any rules questions might arise based on their armies.

SPORTSMANSHIP AND RULES DISPUTESThe objective of organized play is for everyone to have a good time.

PAINTING, MODELING, PROXIES, AND CONVERSIONSPrivateer Press encourages players to have a fully painted force on the table. Games with fully painted armies are more interesting to watch and generally enhance the play experience for all. Although this is not required, players should take the opportunity to show off all aspects of the hobby.

Proxies (substitute models) and models that have not been released to the general public are not allowed under any circumstances.

All models must be HORDES models (or WARMACHINE models if approved by the EO) appropriate to the event. Conversions (modifications to Privateer Press models) are acceptable as long as they are clearly based on HORDES or WARMACHINE models. Conversions must clearly represent the model from which they are most obviously drawn. For example, a heavily converted Madrak model is not an acceptable substitute for Borka.

On warrior models, converting and swapping weapons is acceptable as long as the new weapon represents the same type of weapon as the one replaced. For example, swapping a sword for a sword is legal, but swapping a sword for an axe is not. On warjack and warbeast models, weapons can be modified but they cannot be swapped for different weapons.

An EO can make exceptions and approve any reasonable conversion. To avoid confusion and conflict, players must have an unaltered version of the model available in case the EO determines that a questionable model is not acceptable for this event. The EO makes the final decision on any particular model.

EVENT RULESThis event uses a free-play format that awards players Exigence points for accomplishments in games, army construction, and modeling. Score sheets are provided to track points gained by fulfilling certain requirements. There is no limit on the number of games a player can play during the course of the event.

All games should be played using one of the following Steamroller 2014 scenarios: Outflank, Close Quarters, Destruction, or Incursion. You can find these scenarios at: privateerpress.com/organized-play/steamroller-tournaments.

BUILDING YOUR ARMYThe EO will determine the army point level for all games before the event begins, and we recommend that this level remain the same throughout the event. Additionally, we recommend 50 points as the army point level for this event.

DECEPTIONSDeceptions are secret traps or tricks you can set up for your opponent. If your opponent's actions fulfill the conditions during the course of a game, you can reveal your Deception to your opponent and gain an advantage.

After army lists have been determined but before the starting roll and deployment, secretly choose one Deception from the list below and write it down on a piece of paper. Keep this paper face down on the table until you reveal it. The rules for each Deception describe the conditions that allow you to reveal it to your opponent as well as the effect it has. Each Deception can be revealed only once per game by each player. You can choose a different Deception each game. Deceptions do not persist from game to game.

ALARM SYSTEMYou can reveal this Deception when your opponent scores one or more control points. All models in your warcaster’s or warlock’s battlegroup can immediately advance up to 3˝.

DECOYYou can reveal this Deception when a friendly model is hit by an enemy ranged, melee, or magic attack but before the damage roll. The model suffers no damage or effects from the attack.

MIRROR TRAPYou can reveal this Deception when an enemy model spends focus or fury points to cast a spell with a COST of 3 or more. Your warcaster or warlock can cast that spell on your next turn as if it were one of its own spells. If the spell is an upkeep spell, your warcaster or warlock can upkeep it on subsequent turns.

PANIC ATTACKYou can reveal this Deception when a friendly warbeast’s Spirit aspect is crippled by an attack or effect during your opponent’s turn, after the attack or effect is resolved, and if the warbeast is not destroyed or removed from play by the attack or effect. The warbeast immediately advances up to 3˝ directly in a direction of your choice. The warbeast cannot be targeted by free strikes during this movement.

SABOTAGED CORTEXYou can reveal this Deception when a friendly warjack’s Cortex system is crippled by an attack or effect during your opponent’s turn, after the attack or effect is resolved, and if the warjack is not destroyed or removed from play by the attack or effect. All models within 2˝ of this warjack, including the warjack itself, suffer a POW 12 electrical damage roll .

SHIMMERING FOGYou can reveal this Deception when an enemy model declares a charge targeting your warcaster or warlock. Place a 5˝ AOE centered on your warcaster or warlock. The MAT and RAT of enemy models within the AOE are reduced to 0. The AOE remains in place for one round.

MANIPULATIONSManipulations are hidden agendas you are attempting to fulfill. If your actions fulfill the conditions during the course of a game, you can reveal your Manipulation to your opponent and gain an advantage.

After army lists have been determined but before the starting roll and deployment, secretly choose one Manipulation from the list below and write it down on a piece of paper. Keep this paper face down on the table until you reveal it. The rules for each Manipulation describe the conditions that allow you to reveal it to your opponent as well as the effect it has. Each Manipulation can be revealed only once per game by each player. You can choose a different Manipulation each game. Manipulations do not persist from game to game.

ARCANE DISTRACTIONYou can reveal this Manipulation when a friendly warrior model begins its activation within 2˝ of an enemy warcaster or warlock. The enemy model cannot spend focus or fury to cast or upkeep spells for one round.

FLANKING MANEUVERYou can reveal this Manipulation when a friendly model without Ambush begins its activation in your opponent’s deployment zone. Choose a non-warcaster, non-warlock enemy model/unit. Friendly models gain +2 to attack and damage rolls against the enemy model/unit for one round.

PERSONAL CHALLENGEYou can reveal this Manipulation when your warcaster or warlock ends its activation B2B with an enemy warcaster or warlock. Your warcaster or warlock gains Riposte for one round. (When a model with Riposte is missed by an enemy melee attack, immediately after the attack is resolved it can make one normal melee attack against the attacking model.)

SUPERIOR DEFENSESYou can reveal this Manipulation when you begin your turn with 20 or more friendly warrior models within zones or within 4˝ of flags. Your opponent cannot control or dominate for one round.

THIEVES IN THE NIGHTYou can reveal this Manipulation when a friendly warrior unit controls the same zone or flag for two consecutive turns. Before control points are scored, your opponent immediately loses 2 control points, to a minimum of 0.

UNLEASH THE BEASTYou can reveal this Manipulation when a friendly warjack or warbeast destroys four or more enemy models in a single activation. The warjack or warbeast gains +2 ARM and cannot be knocked down or made stationary for one round.
