in Your Name I will hope, for Your Name is good.
I will praise You in the presence of Your saints.” Psalm 52:9
WELCOME: We welcome each one who has come today to
worship here in Spirit and in Truth. May God, who sent His
only begotten Son to us in the miracle of Bethlehem, find in
your life the devotion of a true worshipper. Please join us in
the Fellowship Hall following the morning service for
refreshments and fellowship.
Children aged 3-5 meet your teacher in the foyer during the
offering this morning for Children’s Church.
Christmas Program practice will continue for grades PreK-8th
in place of Sunday School. Senior High Catechism will
continue to meet through Sunday, December 17.
ABOUT OUR MESSAGES
This morning, we continue answering the question of the
familiar Christmas carol: What Child is This? Last week, the
fact that the child was “the babe, the son of Mary” pointed to
his truly human nature. But the song also sings of a child
“Whom Angels Greet with Anthems Sweet.” This is no
ordinary child, and another angel song in Revelation 5:11-
12 show that the angels sing for a child big enough to take both
our guilt and our praise.
This evening, we look at the prayer “Thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven.” When we pray for God’s will to be done,
what do we mean? A story from 1 Kings 22 will ask whether
we seek God’s will for what we want to hear or what we need
to hear. There can be a difference between “What We Want
and What God Wills.”
PRAYERS AND PRAISES
Please be in prayer for Megan Boltjes after the loss of her
grandmother, Marlys Bakke, this past week in Yankton. Funeral
services were yesterday. We give our sympathy to Megan and
pray that God’s comfort would be her strength in the midst of loss.
Tomorrow, Sheryl Brondsema will be going to Rochester,
MN for a check-up on her health. Please be praying for safe
travel, for favorable reports from the doctors, and also for a
peace and perseverance regardless of their findings.
Prayer update: Ella Reiser, daughter of Nikki and Aaron
Reiser and granddaughter of Larry and Jan Hansum was
scheduled to have surgery this past week in Omaha; however,
that has now been moved to this coming Thursday, December
14. Please keep this little girl and their entire family in your prayers!
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”
Psalm 46:1 Our hearts are full of gratitude when we think of the
many expressions of comfort shown during these past months, weeks,
and days. Your visits, hugs, cards and encouragement, help with live-
stock, harvest and the farm, prayers (especially prayers) have meant
and continue to mean so much to us and we will always appreciate
them. Thank you to Pastor Drew for faithfully visiting and praying
with and for Darrell. Thank you also to our church Care Groups who
help so willingly at times like these.
~Gretchen Kuipers, Ian and Valarie Kuipers family, Peter Kuipers
We would like to thank the congregation for all your expressions of
sympathy. We appreciated the prayers, cards, memorial gifts, flowers
and hugs after Jennie went to her heavenly home. We will miss her
but praise God for her life. We especially thank Pastor Drew, Kim for
paying organ, and the work group for preparing and serving the
lunch. ~the families of Jennie Bultsma

ABOUT OUR OFFERINGS
This week, our offerings are for the Abbott House in Mitchell,
SD. “For more than 75 years Abbott House has provided girls
ages 7 to 23 with a second chance at youth—a place of hope
and recovery for those who have suffered trauma and abuse.
Without help now, many of these young women perpetuate
the cycle of violence and punish themselves indefinitely for the
tragedy that was placed on their shoulders. It is a place where
girls get another chance to turn the abuse and victimization
of their past into experiences they live with, but that do not
overwhelm their lives. Abbott House strives to provide
premier services for girls and their families.” (from www.abbothouse.org)
Our offerings next week are for Dakota Christian School.
